Proverbs 24
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
Не завиди злим људима нити жели да си с њима.
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
Јер о погибли мисли срце њихово и усне њихове говоре о муци.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
Мудрошћу се зида кућа и разумом утврђује се.
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
И знањем се пуне клети сваког блага и драгоцена и мила.
5 A wise man is [always] in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth [his] strength.
Мудар је човек јак, и разуман је човек силан снагом.
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
Јер мудрим саветом ратоваћеш, и избављење је у мноштву саветника.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
Високе су безумноме мудрости; неће отворити уста својих на вратима.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
Ко мисли зло чинити зваће се зликовац.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
Мисао безумникова грех је, и подсмевач је гад људски.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
Ако клонеш у невољи, скратиће ти се сила.
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
Избављај похватане на смрт; и које хоће да погубе, немој се устегнути од њих.
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
Ако ли кажеш: Гле, нисмо знали за то; неће ли разумети Онај који испитује срца, и који чува душу твоју неће ли дознати и платити свакоме по делима његовим?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
Сине мој, једи мед, јер је добар, и саће, јер је слатко грлу твом.
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a [happy] future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
Тако ће бити познање мудрости души твојој, кад је нађеш; и биће плата, и надање твоје неће се затрти.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his resting-place;
Безбожниче, не вребај око стана праведниковог, и не квари му почивање.
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
Јер ако и седам пута падне праведник, опет устане, а безбожници пропадају у злу.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
Кад падне непријатељ твој, немој се радовати, и кад пропадне, нека не игра срце твоје.
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
Јер би видео Господ и не би Му било мило, и обратио би гнев свој од њега на тебе.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
Немој се жестити ради неваљалаца, немој завидети безбожницима.
20 For there will be no [happy] future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
Јер нема плате неваљалцу, жижак ће се безбожницима угасити.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
Бој се Господа, сине мој, и цара, и не мешај се с немирницима.
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
Јер ће се уједанпут подигнути погибао њихова, а ко зна пропаст која иде од обојице?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
И ово је за мудраце: Гледати ко је ко на суду није добро.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
Ко говори безбожнику: Праведан си, њега ће проклињати људи и мрзиће на њ народи.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
А који га карају, они ће бити мили, и доћи ће на њих благослов добрих.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
Ко говори речи истините, у уста љуби.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
Уреди свој посао на пољу, и сврши своје на њиви, потом и кућу своју зидај.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
Не буди сведок на ближњег свог без разлога, и не варај уснама својим.
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
Не говори: Како је он мени учинио тако ћу ја њему учинити; платићу овом човеку по делу његовом.
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
Иђах мимо њиве човека лењог и мимо винограда човека безумног;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stone-wall was broken down.
И гле, беше све зарасло у трње и све покрио чкаљ, и ограда им камена разваљена.
32 And when I had indeed beheld [this] I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
И видевши узех на ум, и гледах и поучих се.
33 “A little [more] sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;”
Док мало проспаваш, док мало продремљеш, док мало склопиш руке да починеш,
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
У том ће доћи сиромаштво твоје као путник, и оскудица твоја као оружан човек.
