< Proverbs 24 >
1 Be thou not envious of bad men, and do not long to be with them.
Teweegombanga bakozi ba bibi era tobeesemberezanga.
2 For their heart meditateth destruction, and of mischief do their lips speak.
Kubanga emitima gyabwe giteesa kukola bya butemu, era akamwa kaabwe koogera ku kukola bya ffujjo.
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and through understanding is it firmly established;
Amagezi ge gazimba ennyumba, n’okutegeera kwe kugiggumiza.
4 And through knowledge are chambers filled with all manner of precious and pleasant wealth.
Olw’amagezi ebisenge by’ayo bijjula ebintu ebirungi, eby’obugagga ebitalabikalabika eby’omuwendo omungi.
5 A wise man is [always] in power; and a man of knowledge fortifieth [his] strength.
Omuntu ow’amagezi aba n’obuyinza, n’omuntu alina okumanya yeeyongera amaanyi.
6 For by wise counsel canst thou conduct thy war; and there is help in a multitude of counsellors.
Kubanga okulwana olutalo weetaaga okuluŋŋamizibwa, n’okuluwangula, weetaaga abawi b’amagezi bangi.
7 Wisdom is too high for a fool: in the gate can he not open his mouth.
Amagezi gasukkirira nnyo omusirusiru, talina ky’asobola kwogera mu lukuŋŋaana olw’oku wankaaki.
8 Him that deviseth to do evil, men call a master of wicked devices.
Oyo asala enkwe ez’okukola ebibi, aliyitibwa mukujjukujju.
9 The counsel of folly is sin; and an abomination to men is the scorner.
Entegeka ez’obusirusiru muvaamu kwonoona, abantu beetamwa omukudaazi.
10 If thou despond on the day of distress, thy strength is small.
Bw’oyongobera mu kiseera eky’ebizibu, olwo ng’olina amaanyi matono!
11 Deliver those that are taken unto death, and those that are moved away to the slaughter hold back.
Odduukiriranga n’owonya abo abatwalibwa okuttibwa, n’abo abali ku njegoyego z’okuttibwa, obawonye okuttirwa obwemage.
12 If thou shouldst say, Behold, we know not this man: lo, he that weigheth hearts will truly regard it, and he that keepeth thy soul will surely know it; and he will give a recompense to man according to his doing.
Bw’ogambanga nti, “Laba kino twali tetukimanyi,” oyo akebera emitima aba talaba? Oyo akuuma obulamu bwo takimanyi? Talisasula buli muntu ng’omulimu gwe bwe guli?
13 Eat honey, my son, because it is good; and the fine honey, which is sweet to thy palate:
Mwana wange olyanga omubisi gw’enjuki kubanga mulungi, omubisi oguva mu bisenge byagwo guwoomerera.
14 So obtain the knowledge of wisdom for thy soul: when thou hast found her, then shall there be a [happy] future, and thy hope shall not be cut off.
Era manya nti amagezi gawoomera emmeeme yo, bw’onoogafuna onoobeera n’essuubi mu bulamu obw’omu maaso, n’essuubi lyo teririkoma.
15 Lie not in wait, O wicked man! against the dwelling of the righteous; waste not his resting-place;
Toteeganga, ng’omunyazi bw’akola ku nnyumba y’omutuukirivu, tonyaganga maka ge.
16 For though the righteous were to fall seven times, he will rise up again; but the wicked shall stumble into misfortune.
Omuntu omutuukirivu ne bw’agwa emirundi omusanvu, addamu n’ayimuka, naye abakozi b’ebibi basuulibwa mu mitawaana.
17 At the fall of thy enemy do not rejoice; and at his stumbling let not thy heart be glad:
Tosanyukanga ng’omulabe wo agudde, bwe yeesittalanga omutima gwo gulemenga okujaguza.
18 Lest the Lord see it and it be displeasing in his eyes, and he turn away from him his wrath.
Si kulwa nga Mukama akiraba ne kitamusanyusa, n’amusunguwalira.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious of the wicked;
Teweeraliikiriranga olw’abo abakola ebibi, so abakozi b’ebibi tobakwatirwanga buggya.
20 For there will be no [happy] future for the bad man: the lamp of the wicked will be quenched.
Kubanga omuntu omubi talina ssuubi mu maaso, ettabaaza y’abakozi b’ebibi erizikizibwa.
21 My son, fear the Lord and the king: with those that are desirous to change do not mingle thyself;
Mwana wange otyanga Mukama, ne kabaka, era teweetabanga na bajeemu.
22 For suddenly will their calamity arise; and who knoweth the ruin of both of them!
Kubanga obusungu bwabwe bulibuubuukira ku bajeemu era ani amaanyi akabi akalibatuukako?
23 These things also are for the wise. To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.
Bino nabyo era bigambo by’abalina amagezi. Okwekubiira ng’osala emisango si kirungi.
24 Him that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous, will the people denounce, him will nations hold accursed;
Kale oyo agamba azizza omusango nti, “Toliiko ky’ovunaanibwa,” abantu banaamukolimiranga, n’amawanga ganaamwetamwanga.
25 But to those that punish delight shall be given, and upon them shall come the blessing of the good.
Naye abo abasalira omusobya omusango ne gumusinga banaabanga n’essanyu, n’omukisa omulungi gulibatuukako.
26 Men will kiss the lips of him that giveth a proper answer.
Eky’okuddamu eky’amazima, kiri ng’okunywegerwa.
27 Prepare without thy work, and make it fit in the field for thyself: and afterward build thy house.
Malirizanga omulimu gwo ogw’ebweru, oteeketeeke ennimiro zo, n’oluvannyuma olyoke weezimbire ennyumba yo.
28 Be not without cause a witness against thy neighbor; for wouldst thou beguile with thy lips?
Towanga bujulizi bwa bulimba ku muliraanwa wo, so akamwa ko tekalimbanga.
29 Say not, As he hath done to me so will I do to him: I will recompense every man according to his doing.
Toyogeranga nti, “Omuntu oyo ndimukola nga bw’ankoze, era ndimusasuza nga bw’ampisizza.”
30 By the field of a slothful man I once passed along, and by the vineyard of a man void of sense:
Nayita ku nnimiro ey’omugayaavu, ne mpita ne ku nnimiro y’emizabbibu ey’oyo atalina kutegeera.
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, nettles had covered its surface, and its stone-wall was broken down.
Kale laba, ng’ennimiro eyo ebunye amaggwa, wansi wonna nga wabikkiddwa omuddo, n’olukomera lwayo olw’amayinja nga lugudde.
32 And when I had indeed beheld [this] I took it to my heart: I saw it, and received a warning.
Ne neekaliriza ne ntegeera ne nfuna ekyokuyiga mu bye nalaba.
33 “A little [more] sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands in lying down;”
Otulo otutonotono, n’okusumagira akatono, n’okufunya emikono okuwummulako,
34 But then will thy poverty come like a rover; and thy wants as a man armed with a shield.
obwavu bulikutuukako ng’omutemu, era n’obwetaavu ng’omutemu.
