Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
Aquele que ama a correção ama o conhecimento; mas aquele que odeia a repreensão é um bruto.
2 The good obtaineth favor of the Lord; but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
O homem de bem ganha o favor do SENHOR; mas ao homem de pensamentos perversos, ele o condenará.
3 A man cannot be firmly established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous will not be moved.
O homem não prevalecerá pela perversidade; mas a raiz dos justos não será removida.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but as rottenness in his bones is one that bringeth shame [on him].
A mulher virtuosa é a coroa de seu marido; mas a causadora de vergonha é como uma podridão em seus ossos.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are justice: the best counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Os pensamentos dos justos são de bom juízo; [mas] os conselhos dos perversos são enganosos.
6 The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.
As palavras dos perversos são para espreitar [o derramamento de] sangue [de inocentes]; mas a boca dos corretos os livrará.
7 The wicked are suddenly overthrown, and are no more; but the house of the righteous will endure.
Os perversos serão transtornados, e não existirão [mais]; porém a casa dos justos permanecerá.
8 In accordance with his intelligence is a man praised; but he that is perverse of heart will come to be despised.
Cada um será elogiado conforme seu entendimento; mas o perverso de coração será desprezado.
9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed who hath a servant, than he that aimeth after honor, and lacketh bread.
Melhor é o que estima pouco a si mesmo mas tem quem o sirva, do que aquele que elogia e si mesmo, mas nem sequer tem pão.
10 A righteous man careth for the life of his beast; but the mercies of the wicked are cruelty.
O justo dá atenção à vida de seus animais; mas [até] as misericórdias dos perversos são cruéis.
11 He that tilleth his ground will be satisfied with bread; but he that runneth after idle persons is void of sense.
Aquele que lavra sua terra se saciará de pão; mas o que segue [coisas] inúteis tem falta de juízo.
12 The wicked is covetous for the net of evil men; but [God] giveth root to the righteous.
O perverso deseja armadilhas malignas; porém a raiz dos justos produzirá [seu fruto].
13 In the transgression of his lips is the snare of the wicked; but the righteous cometh out of distress.
O perverso é capturado pela transgressão de seus lábios, mas o justo sairá da angústia.
14 From the fruit of his mouth will a man be satisfied with what is good; and the recompense of a man's hands will be brought back unto him.
Cada um se sacia do bem pelo fruto de sua [própria] boca; e a recompensa das mãos do homem lhe será entregue de volta.
15 The way of a fool is straight in his own eyes; but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
O caminho do tolo é correto aos seus [próprios] olhos; mas aquele que ouve o [bom] conselho é sábio.
16 The wrath of the fool is known on the very day; but he that concealeth the disgrace is prudent.
A ira do tolo é conhecida no mesmo dia, mas o prudente ignora o insulto.
17 He that uttereth truth announceth righteousness; but a false witness, deceit.
Aquele que fala a verdade conta a justiça; porém a testemunha falsa [conta] o engano.
18 There is some one that useth words [which are] like the thrusts of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is healing.
Há [alguns] que falam [palavras] como que golpes de espada; porém a língua do sábios é [como] um remédio.
19 The lip of truth will stand firm for ever; but only for a moment the tongue of falsehood.
O lábio da verdade ficará para sempre, mas a língua da falsidade [dura] por [apenas] um momento.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those that contrive evil; but for the counsellors of peace there is joy.
[Há] engano no coração dos que tramam o mal; mas os que aconselham a paz [têm] alegria.
21 No wrong can come unawares to the righteous; but the wicked are full of evil.
Nenhuma adversidade sobrevirá ao justos; mas os perversos se encherão de mal.
22 An abomination of the Lord are lips of falsehood; but they that deal in faithfulness [obtain] his favor.
Os lábios mentirosos são abomináveis ao SENHOR, mas dos que falam a verdade são seu prazer.
23 A prudent man concealeth [his] knowledge; but the heart of fools proclaimeth [their] folly.
O homem prudente é discreto em conhecimento; mas o coração dos tolos proclama a loucura.
24 The hand of the diligent will bear rule; but the indolent must become tributary.
A mão dos que trabalham com empenho dominará, e os preguiçosos se tornarão escravos.
25 If there be care in the heart of man, let him suppress it; and a good word will change it into joy.
A ansiedade no coração do homem o abate; [mas] uma boa palavra o alegra.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor; but the way of the wicked leadeth them astray.
O justo age cuidadosamente para com seu próximo, mas o caminho dos perversos os faz errar.
27 The indolent roasteth not that which he hath caught in hunting; but the most precious wealth of man is diligence.
O preguiçoso não assa aquilo que caçou, mas a riqueza de quem trabalha com empenho [lhe é] preciosa.
28 On the path of righteousness there is life; and on her pathway there is immortality,
Na vereda da justiça está a vida; e [no] caminho de seu percurso não há morte.
