Numbers 8
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Hierauf gebot der HERR dem Mose folgendes:
2 Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, then shall the seven lamps give light toward the body of the candlestick.
»Gib dem Aaron folgende Weisung: Wenn du die Lampen aufsetzt, so sollen die sieben Lampen ihr Licht nach der Vorderseite des Leuchters hin werfen.«
3 And Aaron did so; toward the body of the candlestick did he light its lamps; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Da machte Aaron es so: an der Vorderseite des Leuchters setzte er dessen Lampen auf, wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.
4 And this was the workmanship of the candlestick: It was of beaten gold, from the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, it was beaten work; according unto the pattern which the Lord had shown Moses, so made he the candlestick.
Der Leuchter war aber aus Gold in getriebener Arbeit hergestellt: sowohl sein Schaft als auch seine Blüten – alles war getriebene Arbeit; nach dem Muster, das der HERR dem Mose gezeigt hatte, so hatte er den Leuchter anfertigen lassen.
5 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Weiter gebot der HERR dem Mose folgendes:
6 Take the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
»Sondere die Leviten aus der Mitte der Israeliten aus und reinige sie;
7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle upon them water of purification, after they have let the razor pass over all their flesh, and then let them wash their clothes, and so shall they be clean.
und zwar sollst du behufs ihrer Reinigung so mit ihnen verfahren: Besprenge sie mit Entsündigungswasser; dann sollen sie ein Schermesser über ihren ganzen Leib gehen lassen und ihre Kleider waschen und so sich reinigen.
8 And they shall take a young bullock with his meat-offering, fine flour mingled with oil; and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin-offering.
Hierauf sollen sie einen jungen Stier nehmen nebst dem zugehörigen Speisopfer, nämlich Feinmehl, das mit Öl gemengt ist; und einen zweiten jungen Stier sollst du zum Sündopfer nehmen.
9 And thou shalt bring near the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt assemble together the whole congregation of the children of Israel.
Dann sollst du die Leviten vor das Offenbarungszelt treten lassen und die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten dort versammeln.
10 And when thou hast brought near the Levites before the Lord, then shall the children of Israel lay their hands upon the Levites:
Hierauf laß die Leviten vor den HERRN treten, und die Israeliten sollen ihre Hände fest auf die Leviten legen;
11 And Aaron shall make with the Levites a waving before the Lord from the children of Israel, that they may be ready to execute the service of the Lord.
dann soll Aaron die Leviten vor dem HERRN als ein von seiten der Israeliten dargebrachtes Webeopfer weben, damit sie den Dienst des HERRN zu verrichten geeignet werden.
12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt prepare the one as a sin-offering, and the other as a burnt-offering, unto the Lord, to make an atonement for the Levites.
Nachdem dann die Leviten ihre Hände fest auf den Kopf der Stiere gelegt haben, sollst du den einen Stier zum Sündopfer, den andern zum Brandopfer für den HERRN herrichten, um den Leviten Sühne zu erwirken.
13 And thou shalt place the Levites before Aaron and before his sons, and make with them a waving before the Lord.
Dann laß die Leviten vor Aaron und seine Söhne treten und webe sie als Webeopfer für den HERRN:
14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
auf diese Weise sollst du die Leviten aus der Mitte der Israeliten aussondern, damit die Leviten mir gehören.
15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: after thou shalt have cleansed them, and made with them a waving.
Darnach sollen die Leviten hineingehen, um den Dienst am Offenbarungszelt zu verrichten. So sollst du sie reinigen und als Webeopfer weben;
16 For they are wholly given unto me from the midst of the children of Israel: instead of every one that openeth the womb, of every first-born of the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
denn sie sind mir aus der Mitte der Israeliten ganz zu eigen gegeben: als Ersatz für alle Erstgeburten, für alle Kinder, die unter den Israeliten zuerst zur Welt kommen, habe ich sie für mich genommen.
17 For mine are all the first-born of the children of Israel, both of man and beast: on the day that I smote every first-born in the land of Egypt did I sanctify them unto myself.
Denn mir gehört alles Erstgeborene in Israel, von den Menschen wie vom Vieh; an dem Tage, als ich alle Erstgeburten im Lande Ägypten sterben ließ, habe ich sie mir geheiligt.
18 And I have taken the Levites, instead of all the first-born among the children of Israel.
So habe ich denn die Leviten als Ersatz für alle Erstgeborenen unter den Israeliten genommen
19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from the midst of the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
und habe die Leviten dem Aaron und seinen Söhnen aus der Mitte der Israeliten zu eigen gegeben, damit sie den von den Israeliten zu leistenden Dienst am Offenbarungszelt verrichten und den Israeliten als Deckung dienen, auf daß kein Unglücksschlag die Israeliten trifft, wenn sie selbst sich dem Heiligtum nähern würden.«
20 And so did Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, to the Levites: according unto all that the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
Hierauf verfuhren Mose und Aaron und die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten mit den Leviten genau so, wie der HERR dem Mose bezüglich der Leviten geboten hatte: genau so verfuhren die Israeliten mit ihnen.
21 And the Levites purified themselves, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron made with them a waving before the Lord: and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
Die Leviten ließen sich nämlich entsündigen und wuschen ihre Kleider; Aaron webte sie dann als Webeopfer vor dem HERRN, und Aaron vollzog zu ihrer Reinigung die Sühnehandlungen für sie.
22 And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
Danach gingen die Leviten hinein, um ihren Dienst am Offenbarungszelt unter der Aufsicht Aarons und seiner Söhne zu verrichten; wie der HERR dem Mose in betreff der Leviten geboten hatte, so verfuhren sie mit ihnen.
23 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Hierauf sagte der HERR weiter zu Mose:
24 This shall be the rule for the Levites: From twenty and five years old and upward shall he go into the ranks to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation;
»Folgende Vorschriften sollen in betreff der Leviten gelten: Im Alter von fünfundzwanzig Jahren und darüber soll der Levit im Dienst zur Besorgung der Verrichtungen am Offenbarungszelt tätig sein;
25 And from the age of fifty years shall he go out of the ranks of the service, and he shall serve no more;
aber von fünfzig Jahren an soll er von den Dienstleistungen befreit sein und nicht mehr dienen.
26 But he shall wait on his brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, but the service shall he not perform; thus shalt thou do unto the Levites in the discharge of their office.
Er mag alsdann seinen Brüdern im Offenbarungszelt behilflich sein, wenn sie ihren Dienst verrichten, aber regelmäßigen Dienst soll er nicht mehr leisten. So sollst du es mit den Leviten bezüglich ihrer Amtsgeschäfte halten.«
