Numbers 36
1 And there came near the chiefs of the divisions of the family of the children of Gil'ad, the son of Machir, the son of Menasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph; and they spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the chiefs of the divisions of the children of Israel;
Les Chefs des maisons patriarcales de la famille des fils de Galaad, fils de Machir, fils de Manassé, d’entre les familles des fils de Joseph, s’étant approchés, parlèrent devant Moïse et devant les princes, chefs de maisons patriarcales des enfants d’Israël.
2 And they said, the Lord hath commanded my Lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel; and my Lord hath been commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
Ils dirent: « Yahweh a ordonné à mon seigneur de donner par le sort le pays en héritage aux enfants d’Israël; mon seigneur a aussi reçu de Yahweh l’ordre de donner l’héritage de Salphaad, notre frère, à ses filles.
3 And if they become the wives of any of the sons of the [other] tribes of the children of Israel: then will their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and be added to the inheritance of the tribe whereamong they may be married; and from the lot of our inheritance will it be taken away.
Si elles se marient à l’un des fils d’une autre tribu des enfants d’Israël, leur héritage sera retranché de l’héritage de nos pères et il s’ajoutera à celui de la tribu dont elles feront partie, et il sera retranché du lot de notre héritage.
4 And whenever the jubilee shall be to the children of Israel: then will their inheritance be added unto the inheritance of the tribe whereamong they may be married; and from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers will their inheritance be taken away.
Et quand viendra le jubilé pour les enfants d’Israël, leur héritage sera ajouté à celui de la tribu dont elles feront partie, et leur héritage sera retranché de l’héritage de la tribu de nos pères. »
5 And Moses commanded the children of Israel by the order of the Lord, saying, the tribe of the sons of Joseph have spoken well.
Moïse donna ce commandement aux enfants d’Israël, sur l’ordre de Yahweh; il dit: « La tribu des fils de Joseph a bien parlé.
6 This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, To those who are pleasing in their eyes may they become wives; however only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they become wives.
Voici ce qu’ordonne Yahweh au sujet des filles de Salphaad: elles se marieront à qui elles voudront, pourvu qu’elles se marient dans une famille de la tribu de leur père;
7 And the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not pass from tribe to tribe; but the children of Israel shall adhere every one to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
ainsi l’héritage des enfants d’Israël ne passera pas d’une tribu à une autre tribu, et les enfants d’Israël s’attacheront chacun à l’héritage de la tribu de ses pères.
8 And every daughter that inheriteth any possession out of any tribe of the children of Israel, shall become the wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father; in order that the children of Israel may inherit every one the inheritance of his fathers.
Toute fille possédant un héritage dans quelque tribu des enfants d’Israël se mariera avec un homme d’une famille de la tribu de son père, afin que les enfants d’Israël conservent chacun l’héritage de ses pères.
9 And no inheritance shall pass from one tribe to another tribe; but the tribes of the children of Israel shall adhere, every one, to his own inheritance.
Aucun héritage ne passera d’une tribu à une autre tribu, mais les tribus des enfants d’Israël s’attacheront chacune à son héritage. »
10 Even as the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad;
Comme Yahweh l’avait ordonné à Moïse, ainsi firent les filles de Salphaad.
11 And Machlah, Tirzah, and Choglah, and Milcah, and No'ah, the daughters of Zelophehad became the wives of the sons of their uncles.
Maala, Thersa, Hégla, Melcha et Noa, filles de Salphaad, se marièrent avec des fils de leurs oncles;
12 [To persons] of the families of the sons of Menasseh the son of Joseph did they become wives, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
elles se marièrent dans les familles des fils de Manassé, fils de Joseph, et ainsi leur héritage resta dans la tribu de la famille de leur père.
13 These are the commandments and the ordinances, which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel, in the plain of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
Telles sont les ordonnances et les lois que Yahweh donna par Moïse aux enfants d’Israël, dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.
