Numbers 36

1 And there came near the chiefs of the divisions of the family of the children of Gil'ad, the son of Machir, the son of Menasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph; and they spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the chiefs of the divisions of the children of Israel;

Les chefs de famille des fils de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, des familles des fils de Joseph, s'approchèrent et parlèrent devant Moïse et devant les princes, les chefs de famille des enfants d'Israël.

2 And they said, the Lord hath commanded my Lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel; and my Lord hath been commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.

Ils dirent: « Yahvé a ordonné à mon seigneur de donner le pays en héritage par tirage au sort aux enfants d'Israël. Mon seigneur a reçu l'ordre de Yahvé de donner l'héritage de Zelophehad, notre frère, à ses filles.

3 And if they become the wives of any of the sons of the [other] tribes of the children of Israel: then will their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and be added to the inheritance of the tribe whereamong they may be married; and from the lot of our inheritance will it be taken away.

Si elles se marient à l'un des fils des autres tribus des enfants d'Israël, leur héritage sera retranché de l'héritage de nos pères et ajouté à l'héritage de la tribu à laquelle elles appartiendront. Il sera ainsi retranché du lot de notre héritage.

4 And whenever the jubilee shall be to the children of Israel: then will their inheritance be added unto the inheritance of the tribe whereamong they may be married; and from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers will their inheritance be taken away.

Quand viendra le jubilé des enfants d'Israël, leur héritage sera ajouté à l'héritage de la tribu à laquelle ils appartiendront. Ainsi leur héritage sera retranché de l'héritage de la tribu de nos pères. »

5 And Moses commanded the children of Israel by the order of the Lord, saying, the tribe of the sons of Joseph have spoken well.

Moïse donna aux enfants d'Israël un ordre conforme à la parole de Yahvé, en disant: « La tribu des fils de Joseph dit ce qui est juste.

6 This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, To those who are pleasing in their eyes may they become wives; however only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they become wives.

Voici ce que l'Éternel ordonne pour les filles de Zelophehad: Qu'elles se marient à qui bon leur semble, mais elles se marieront dans la famille de la tribu de leur père.

7 And the inheritance of the children of Israel shall not pass from tribe to tribe; but the children of Israel shall adhere every one to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

Ainsi, aucun héritage des enfants d'Israël ne passera d'une tribu à l'autre, car les enfants d'Israël conserveront tous l'héritage de la tribu de leurs pères.

8 And every daughter that inheriteth any possession out of any tribe of the children of Israel, shall become the wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father; in order that the children of Israel may inherit every one the inheritance of his fathers.

Toute fille qui possédera un héritage dans une tribu des enfants d'Israël sera la femme d'un membre de la famille de la tribu de son père, afin que les enfants d'Israël possèdent chacun l'héritage de leurs pères.

9 And no inheritance shall pass from one tribe to another tribe; but the tribes of the children of Israel shall adhere, every one, to his own inheritance.

Ainsi, aucun héritage ne passera d'une tribu à une autre tribu, car les tribus des enfants d'Israël garderont chacune leur héritage.'"

10 Even as the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad;

Les filles de Tselophehad firent ce que l'Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse:

11 And Machlah, Tirzah, and Choglah, and Milcah, and No'ah, the daughters of Zelophehad became the wives of the sons of their uncles.

car Mahla, Tirza, Hogla, Milca et Noé, filles de Tselophehad, furent mariées aux fils des frères de leur père.

12 [To persons] of the families of the sons of Menasseh the son of Joseph did they become wives, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

Elles furent mariées dans les familles des fils de Manassé, fils de Joseph. Leur héritage resta dans la tribu de la famille de leur père.

13 These are the commandments and the ordinances, which the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel, in the plain of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho.

Tels sont les commandements et les ordonnances que Yahvé a prescrits par Moïse aux enfants d'Israël dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, à Jéricho.
