Numbers 35
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying,
परमप्रभु यरीहोमा यर्दन नजिकको मोआबको मैदानमा मोशासँग बोल्नुभयो,
2 Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites from the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and an open space for the cities round about them shall ye give [also] unto the Levites.
“इस्राएलका मानिसहरूलाई तिनीहरूका आ-आफ्नो भूमिको हिस्साबाट लेवीहरूलाई केही दिन आज्ञा दे । तिनीहरूले उनीहरूलाई बस्नको निम्ति सहरहरू र त्यसको वरिपरि खर्क दिनुपर्छ ।
3 And the cities shall serve them to dwell in; and their open spaces shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their requirements.
लेवीहरूले बस्नलाई यी सहरहरू पाउने छन् । तिनीहरूका गाईवस्तुहरू, भेडा-बाख्राहरू र तिनीहरूका सबै जनावरका निम्ति खर्क हुने छ ।
4 And the open spaces of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
तिमीहरूले लेवीहरूलाई दिने सहर वरिपरिका खर्कहरू सहरका पर्खालहरूदेखि बाहिर वरिपरि सबैतिर एक-एक हजार हातसम्म फैलिएको हुने छ ।
5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits, with the city in the midst: this shall be to them the open spaces of the cities.
तिमीहरूले सहरको बाहिरबाट पूर्वपट्टि दुई हजार हात, दक्षिणपट्टि दुई हजार हात, पश्चिमपट्टि दुई हजार हात र उत्तरपट्टि दुई हजार हात नाप्नुपर्छ । यो तिनीहरूका निम्ति खर्कहरू हुने छ । सहरचाहिँ बिचमा हुने छ ।
6 And the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites shall be the six cities of refuge, which ye shall appoint that the manslayer may flee thither; and in addition to them shall ye give forty and two cities.
तिमीहरूले लेवीहरूलाई दिने सहरहरूमध्ये छ वटाले शरण-नगरहरूको काम गर्नुपर्छ । तिमीहरूले दिएका यी ठाउँहरूले कुनै मानिसलाई मार्ने व्यक्ति भाग्न सक्ने ठाउँ हुनुपर्छ । बयालिसवटा सहर पनि दिनू ।
7 All the cities which ye shall [thus] give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities, they with their open spaces.
तिमीहरूले लेवीहरूलाई दिने सहरहरू जम्मा अठचालिसवटा हुने छ । तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई तिनीहरूका खर्कहरूसहित दिनुपर्छ ।
8 And the cities which ye shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the tribe that hath many shall ye give many; but from the one that hath few shall ye give few: every one according to its inheritance which it may inherit shall give of its cities unto the Levites.
इस्राएलका मानिसहरूको ठुलो कुलसँग धैरै भूमि हुने भएकोले धेरै सहरहरू दिनुपर्छ । साना कुलहरूले कम सहरहरू दिनुपर्छ । हरेक कुलले आफूले प्राप्त गरेको हिस्साअनुसार लेवीहरूको निम्ति दिनुपर्छ ।
9 And the Lord spoke unto Moses. saying,
त्यसपछि परमप्रभु मोशासँग बोल्नुभयो,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye have passed over the Jordan into the land of Canaan:
“इस्राएलका मानिसहरूसँग कुरा गर् र तिनीहरूलाई भन्, 'जब तिमीहरू यर्दन तरेर कनानको भूमिमा प्रवेश गर्छौ,
11 Then ye shall appoint unto yourselves proper cities, that they be cities of refuge for you; and thither shall flee the manslayer who killeth any person at unawares.
तिमीहरूले तिमीहरूको निम्ति शरण-नगरको काम गर्ने सहरहरू चुन्नुपर्छ, जसमा कसैलाई अजानमा मारेको व्यक्ति त्यो ठाउँमा भागेर जान सक्छ ।
12 And these cities shall be unto you for a refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he have stood before the congregation for trial.
यी सहरहरू बदला लिने व्यक्तिबाट बाँच्ने तिमीहरूको शरण-नगर हुनुपर्छ, ताकि दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति समुदायको सामु न्यायको लागि खडा हुनअगि नमारियोस् ।
13 And the cities which ye shall give, shall be six cities of refuge unto you;
तिमीहरूले छवटा सहरलाई शरण-नगरको रूपमा छान्नुपर्छ ।
14 Three of these cities shall ye give on this side of the Jordan, and the three other cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan: cities of refuge shall they be.
तिमीहरूले यर्दनपारि तिनवटा सहर र कनानको भूमिमा तिनवटा सहर दिनुपर्छ । ती शरण-नगर हुने छन् ।
15 For the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them, shall these six cities be for a refuge: that every one may flee thither that killeth any person at unawares.
यी छवटा सहरले इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका निम्ति, परदेशीहरूका निम्ति र तिमीहरूमाझ बसोबास गर्ने जो कोहीको निम्ति एउटा शरणको काम गर्नेछ, जसमा कसैलाई अजानमा मार्ने व्यक्ति भागेर जान सक्छ ।
16 And if he have smitten him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
तर यदि दोष लगाइएको मानिसले पीडितलाई फलामको हतियारले प्रहार गरेको छ भने, र यदि त्यसले आक्रमण गरेको व्यक्ति मर्यो भने, दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति हत्यारा नै हो । त्यसलाई मार्नुपर्छ ।
17 And if he have smitten him with a stone which one can take in the hand, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
यदि दोष लगाइएको मानिसले कसैलाई आफ्नो हातमा भएको ढुङ्गाले कसैलाई मर्ने गरी प्रहार गरेको छ भने, र यदि त्यो व्यक्ति मर्यो भने, त्यो दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति हत्यारा नै हो । त्यसलाई मार्नुपर्छ ।
18 Or if he have smitten him with an article of wood, which one can take in the hand, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
यदि दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिले कसैलाई काठको हतियारले प्रहार गरेको छ भने, र यदि त्यो व्यक्ति मर्यो भने, दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति हत्यारा नै हो । त्यसलाई मार्नुपर्छ ।
19 The avenger of the blood himself shall slay the murderer; when he meeteth him, shall he slay him.
रगतको बदला लिने व्यक्तिले हत्यारालाई मार्न सक्छ । त्यसले त्यसलाई भेट्दा, रगतको बदला लिने व्यक्तिले त्यसलाई मार्नुपर्छ ।
20 And if he push against him out of hatred, or he have hurled at him [any thing] by lying in wait, that he die;
यदि त्यसले ढुकेर बसी कसैलाई प्रहार गर्छ वा घृणा गरेर केही कुराले आक्रमण गर्छ भने र आक्रमण गरिएको व्यक्ति मर्छ भने,
21 Or if in enmity he have smitten him with his hand, that he died, he that smote him shall surely be put to death; [for] he is a murderer: the avenger of the blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth with him.
वा यदि त्यसले घृणा गरेको व्यक्तिलाई आफ्नै हातले प्रहार गर्छ अनि त्यो आक्रमणमा परेको व्यक्ति मर्छ भने, त्यसलाई प्रहार गरेको दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिलाई मार्नुपर्छ । त्यो हत्यारा हो । रगतको बदला लिने व्यक्तिले त्यसलाई भेट्दा मार्न सक्छ ।
22 But if he have pushed against him accidentally without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without lying in wait,
तर यदि दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिले पूर्वघृणाविना अचानक कुनै कुरा फ्याँक्दा ढुकेर नबसी नै आक्रमणमा परेको व्यक्तिलाई लाग्यो भने,
23 Or with any stone wherewith a man may die, without seeing him, and he have let it fall upon him that he died; whereas he was not his enemy, and did not seek his harm:
वा यदि त्यसले आक्रमणमा परेका व्यक्तिलाई नदेखी ढुङ्गा फ्याँक्दा लाग्छ र मर्छ, अनि आक्रमणमा परेको व्यक्ति दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिको शत्रु होइन भने; त्यसले त्यसलाई चोट पुर्याउन खोजिरहेको थिएन । तर आक्रमणमा परेको व्यक्ति मर्छ भने यसो गर्नुपर्छ ।
24 Then shall the congregation judge between the slayer and the avenger of the blood according to these institutions;
त्यस अवस्थामा समुदायले दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति र रगतको बदला लिनेबिच यी नियमहरूको आधारमा न्याय गर्नुपर्छ ।
25 And the congregation shall deliver the manslayer out of the hand of the avenger of the blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he had fled; and he shall abide in it until the death of the high-priest, who hath been anointed with the holy oil.
समुदायले दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिलाई रगतको बदला लिने व्यक्तिको शक्तिबाट छुटकारा दिनुपर्छ । समुदायले त्यो दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति पहिले भागेर गएको शरण-नगरमा नै त्यसलाई फर्काउनुपर्छ । त्यो त्यस बेलाको प्रधान पुजारीको मृत्यु नभएसम्म त्यहीँ नै बस्नुपर्छ, जसलाई पवित्र तेलले अभिषेक गरिएको थियो ।
26 But if the manslayer should at any time pass the boundary of the city of his refuge, whither he may have fled;
तर यदि दोष लगाइएको व्यक्ति कुनै बखत त्यो भागेर गएको सहरको सिमानाबाहिर जान्छ,
27 And the avenger of the blood should find him beyond the boundary of the city of his refuge, and the avenger of the blood should kill the manslayer: he shall not be guilty of blood;
र यदि रगतको बदला लिनेले त्यसलाई शरण-नगरको सिमानाबाहिर फेला पार्छ, र यदि त्यसले त्यो दोष लगाइएको व्यक्तिलाई मार्छ भने, रगतको बदला लिने व्यक्ति हत्याको दोषी हुने छैन ।
28 Because in the city of his refuge shall be remain until the death of the high-priest; but after the death of the high-priest the manslayer may return unto the land of his possession.
किनभने त्यो दोष लागेको व्यक्ति प्रधान पुजारीको मृत्यु नभएसम्म त्यसको शरण-नगरभित्र नै बस्नु पर्थ्यो । प्रधान पुजारीको मृत्युपछि त्यो दोष लागेको व्यक्ति आफ्नो सम्पत्ति भएको ठाउँमा फर्केर जान सक्छ ।
29 And these things shall be unto you for a statute of justice throughout your generations, in all your dwellings.
यी नियमहरू तिमीहरू बसोबास गर्ने सबै ठाउँमा तिमीहरूका मानिसहरूका पुस्तौँ-पुस्तासम्मको विधिविधान हुनुपर्छ ।
30 Whoever it be that killeth a person, according to the testimony of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
कुनै मानिसलाई मार्ने हत्यारालाई साक्षीहरूले दिएको प्रमाणअनुसार मार्नुपर्छ । तर एक जना मात्र साक्षीको प्रमाणमा कुनै पनि व्यक्तिलाई मार्नु हुदैन ।
31 Moreover ye shall take no redemption money for the person of a murderer, who is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.
साथै हत्याराको दोषीको निम्ति तिमीहरूले कुनै किसिको छुटकाराको मूल्य स्वीकार गर्नुहुँदैन । त्यसलाई अवश्य नै मार्नुपर्छ ।
32 And ye shall take no redemption money for him that hath fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
शरण-नगरमा भागेर गएको व्यक्तिको निम्ति तिमीहरूले छुटकाराको मूल्य स्वीकार गर्नुहुँदैन । यसरी प्रधान पुजारीको मृत्यु नभएसम्म तिमीहरूले त्यसलाई आफ्नो जायदाद भएको ठाउँमा बसोबास गर्न दिनुहुँदैन ।
33 And ye shall not defile the land wherein ye are; for the blood it is which defileth the land: and no atonement can be made unto the land for the blood which hath been shed therein, except through the blood of him that hath shed it.
तिमीहरू बसोबास गरेको भूमिलाई यसरी दूषित नपार, किनभने हत्याराबाटको रगतले भूमिलाई दूषित पार्छ । भूमिमा रगत बगाएपछि यसको निम्ति रगत बगाउने व्यक्तिको रगतले बाहेक कुनै किसिमको प्रायश्चित्त गर्न सकिँदैन ।
34 And ye shall not render unclean the land which ye inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the Lord dwell in the midst of the children of Israel.
त्यसैले तिमीहरू बसोबास गर्ने भूमिलाई तिमीहरूले अशुद्ध पार्नुहुँदैन, किनभने म यसमा बास गर्छु । म परमप्रभु इस्राएलका मानिसहरूमाझ बास गर्छु ।
