Numbers 31
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:
2 Execute the vengeance of the children of Israel on the Midianites, after which thou shalt be gathered unto thy people.
"Kräv ut hämnd för Israels barn midjaniterna; sedan skall du samlas till dina fäder.
3 And Moses spoke unto the people, saying, Arm from yourselves some men for the army, and let them go against the Midianites, to execute the vengeance of the Lord on Midian.
Då talade Mose till folket och sade: "Låten en del av edra män väpna sig till strid; dessa skola tåga mot Midjan och utföra HERRENS hämnd på Midjan.
4 A thousand each for every tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the army.
Tusen man ur var och en särskild av Israels alla stammar skolen I sända ut i striden."
5 And there were levied out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for the army.
Så avlämnades då ur Israels ätter tusen man av var stam: tolv tusen man, väpnade till strid.
6 And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the army; them and Phinehas the son of Elazar the priest, to the army, with the holy vessels, and the trumpets for blowing the alarm in his hand.
Och Mose sände dessa, tusen man av var stam, ut i striden; han sände med dem Pinehas, prästen Eleasars son, ut i striden, och denne tog med sig de heliga redskapen och larmtrumpeterna.
7 And they marched out against the Midianites, as the Lord had commanded Moses; and they slew every male.
Och de gingo till strids emot Midjan, såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose, och dräpte allt mankön.
8 And the kings of Midian they slew, besides the rest of their men that were slain; namely, Evi and Rekem, and Zur, and Chur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; and Bil'am the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
Och jämte andra som då blevo slagna av dem dräptes ock de midjanitiska konungarna Evi, Rekem, Sur, Hur och Reba, fem midjanitiska konungar; Bileam, Beors son, dräpte de ock med svärd.
9 And the children of Israel took captives the women of Midian, and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as spoil.
Och Israels barn förde Midjans kvinnor och barn bort såsom fångar; och alla deras dragare och all deras boskap och allt deras övriga gods togo de såsom byte.
10 And all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their castles they burnt with fire.
Och alla deras städer, i de trakter där de bodde, och alla deras tältläger brände de upp i eld.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the booty, both of men and of cattle.
Och de togo med sig allt bytet, och allt vad de hade rövat, både människor och boskap.
12 And they brought unto Moses, and to Elazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, the captives, and the booty, and the spoil, unto the camp, to the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
Och de förde fångarna och det rövade och bytet fram till Mose och prästen Eleasar och Israels barns menighet i lägret på Moabs hedar, som ligga vid Jordan mitt emot Jeriko.
13 And Moses, and Elazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them, to without the camp.
Och Mose och prästen Eleasar och alla menighetens hövdingar gingo dem till mötes utanför lägret.
14 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains over the thousands, and the captains over the hundreds, who had come from the war-campaign.
Men Mose förtörnades på krigsbefälet, över- och underhövitsmännen, när de kommo tillbaka från sitt krigståg.
15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye allowed all the females to live?
Mose sade till dem: "Haven I då låtit alla kvinnorna leva?
16 Behold, these chiefly were the cause unto the children of Israel, through the counsel of Bil'am, to commit the gross trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor; through which there was the plague among the congregation of the Lord.
Det var ju de som, på Bileams inrådan, förledde Israels barn till att begå otrohet mot HERREN i saken med Peor, och som därigenom vållade att en hemsökelse kom över HERRENS menighet.
17 And now kill ye every male among the little ones, and every woman that hath known man by lying with him shall ye kill.
Så dräpen nu alla gossebarn, och dräpen alla kvinnor som hava haft med män, med mankön, att skaffa.
18 But all among the women-children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Men alla flickebarn som icke hava haft med mankön att skaffa, dem mån I låta leva för eder räkning.
19 But ye, —you must abide without the camp seven days: all ye who have killed any person, and all who have touched any one slain, shall purify yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day; both you and your captives.
Själva skolen I nu lägra eder utanför lägret, i sju dagar. Var och en av eder som har dräpt någon människa, och var och en som har kommit vid någon slagen skall rena sig på tredje dagen och på sjunde dagen -- såväl I själva som edra fångar.
20 And every garment, and whatever is made of skins, and every work of goats' hair, and every vessel made of wood, shall ye purify unto yourselves.
Alla kläder och allt som är förfärdigat av skinn och allt som är gjort av gethår och alla redskap av trä skolen I ock rena åt eder."
21 And Elazar the priest said unto the men of the army who had gone to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded Moses:
Och prästen Eleasar sade till stridsmännen som hade deltagit i kriget: Detta är den lagstadga som HERREN har givit Mose:
22 Nevertheless the gold, and the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
Guld och silver, koppar, järn, tenn och bly,
23 Every thing that cometh into the fire shall ye make go through the fire, and it shall be clean; only it shall be purified with the waters of sprinkling: and whatsoever doth not come into the fire shall ye cause to go through the water.
allt sådant som tål eld, skolen I låta gå genom eld, så bliver det rent; dock bör det tillika renas med stänkelsevatten. Men allt som icke tål eld skolen I låta gå genom vatten.
24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and after that may ye come into the camp.
Och I skolen två edra kläder på sjunde dagen, så bliven I rena; därefter fån I gå in i lägret.
25 And the Lord said unto Moses, as followeth,
Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:
26 Take the sum of the booty of the captives, both of man and of cattle, thou, with Elazar the priest, and the chiefs of the families of the congregation:
Över det tagna rovet, både människor och boskap, skall du göra en beräkning, du tillsammans med prästen Eleasar och huvudmännen för menighetens familjer;
27 And thou shalt divide the booty, between those that carried on the war, who went out to the army, and between all the congregation.
sedan skall du dela rovet i två delar, mellan de krigare som hava varit med i striden och hela den övriga menigheten.
28 And thou shalt levy a tribute unto the Lord from the men of war who went out to the army, one individual from every five hundred, of the persons, and of the beef-cattle, and of the asses, and of the sheep;
Och du skall låta det krigsfolk som har varit med i striden giva var femhundrade av människor, fäkreatur, åsnor och får såsom skatt åt HERREN.
29 From their half shall ye take it; and thou shalt give it unto Elazar the priest, for a heave-offering of the Lord.
Så mycket skall tagas av den hälft som tillfaller dem, och du skall giva detta åt prästen Eleasar såsom en gärd åt HERREN.
30 And from the half of the children of Israel, shalt thou take one individual, as it may come, from any fifty, of the persons, of beef-cattle, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of cattle; and thou shalt give the same unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.
Men ur den hälft som tillfaller de övriga israeliterna skall du uttaga var femtionde av människor, sammalunda av fäkreatur, åsnor och får, korteligen, av all boskap, och detta skall du giva åt leviterna, som det åligger att iakttaga vad som är att iakttaga vid HERRENS tabernakel.
31 And Moses with Elazar the priest did, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Och Mose och prästen Eleasar gjorde såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
32 And the booty, being the rest of the spoil which the men of the army had taken, was of sheep and goats, six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand,
Och rovet, nämligen återstoden av det byte som krigsfolket hade tagit utgjorde: av får sex hundra sjuttiofem tusen,
33 And of beef-cattle, seventy and two thousand,
av fäkreatur sjuttiotvå tusen,
34 And of asses, sixty and one thousand,
av åsnor sextioett tusen,
35 And of human persons, of women that had not known men by lying with him, in all thirty and two thousand.
och av människor, sådana kvinnor som icke hade haft med mankön att skaffa, tillsammans trettiotvå tusen personer.
36 And the half, the portion of those who had gone out in the army, was, in the number of sheep and goats, three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred.
Och hälften därav, eller den del om tillföll dem som hade varit med striden, utgjorde: av får ett antal av tre hundra trettiosju tusen fem hundra,
37 And the tribute unto the Lord of the flocks was six hundred and seventy and five.
varav skatten åt HERREN utgjorde sex hundra sjuttiofem får;
38 And the beef-cattle were thirty and six thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was seventy and two.
av fäkreatur trettiosex tusen, varav skatten åt HERREN sjuttiotvå;
39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was sixty and one.
av åsnor trettio tusen fem hundra, varav skatten åt HERREN sextioen;
40 And the human persons were sixteen thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was thirty and two persons.
av människor sexton tusen, varav skatten åt HERREN trettiotvå personer.
41 And Moses gave the tribute, the Lord's heave-offering, unto Elazar the priest, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Och skatten, den för HERREN bestämda gärden, gav Mose åt prästen Eleasar, såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
42 And from the half of the children of Israel, which Moses divided off from the men that had gone forth in the army, —
Och den hälft, som tillföll de övriga israeliterna, och som Mose hade avskilt från krigsfolkets,
43 (Now the half of the congregation was, of sheep and goats three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred.
denna hälft, den som tillföll menigheten, utgjorde: av får tre hundra trettiosju tusen fem hundra,
44 And beef-cattle, thirty and six thousand,
av fäkreatur trettiosex tusen,
45 And asses thirty thousand five hundred,
av åsnor trettio tusen fem hundra
46 And human persons sixteen thousand; )
och av människor sexton tusen.
47 And Moses took from this half of the children of Israel, as it came, one from every fifty, of man and of cattle, and gave the same unto the Levites, who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Och ur denna hälft, som tillföll de övriga israeliterna, uttog Mose var femtionde, både av människor och av boskap, och gav detta åt leviterna, som det ålåg att iakttaga vad som var att iakttaga vid HERRENS tabernakel, allt såsom HERREN hade bjudit Mose.
48 And there came near unto Moses the officers who had been over the thousands of the army, the captains of the thousands, and the captains of the hundreds.
Och befälhavarna över härens avdelningar, över- och underhövitsmännen, trädde fram till Mose.
49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war who have been under our command, and there lacketh not one man of us.
Och de sade till Mose: "Dina tjänare hava räknat antalet av de krigsmän som vi hava haft under vårt befäl, och icke en enda fattas bland oss.
50 We have therefore brought an oblation unto the Lord, each what he hath gotten of vessels of gold, chains, and bracelets, finger-rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.
Därför hava vi nu såsom en offergåva åt HERREN burit fram var och en del som han har kommit över av gyllene klenoder, armband av olika slag, ringar, örhängen och halssmycken, detta för att bringa försoning för oss inför HERRENS ansikte."
51 And Moses with Elazar the priest took the gold from them, all kinds of wrought articles.
Och Mose och prästen Eleasar togo emot guldet av dem, alla slags klenoder.
52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the Lord, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of the thousands, and from the captains of the hundreds.
Och guldet som gavs såsom gärd åt HERREN av över- och underhövitsmännen utgjorde sammanlagt sexton tusen sju hundra femtio siklar.
53 The men of the army had taken spoil, every man for himself.
Manskapet hade tagit byte var och en för sig.
54 And Moses and Elazar the priest took the gold from the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, as a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.
Och Mose och prästen Eleasar togo emot guldet av över- och underhövitsmännen och buro in det i uppenbarelsetältet, för att det skulle bringa Israels barn i åminnelse inför HERRENS ansikte.
