Numbers 31
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
യഹോവ മോശയോട്,
2 Execute the vengeance of the children of Israel on the Midianites, after which thou shalt be gathered unto thy people.
“ഇസ്രായേല്യർക്കുവേണ്ടി മിദ്യാന്യരോടു പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുക. അതിനുശേഷം നീ നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേർക്കപ്പെടും” എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
3 And Moses spoke unto the people, saying, Arm from yourselves some men for the army, and let them go against the Midianites, to execute the vengeance of the Lord on Midian.
അങ്ങനെ മോശ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “മിദ്യാന്യർക്കെതിരായി യുദ്ധംചെയ്യേണ്ടതിനും യഹോവയ്ക്ക് അവരുടെമേലുള്ള പ്രതികാരം നടത്തേണ്ടതിനുമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ സജ്ജരാക്കുക.
4 A thousand each for every tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the army.
ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ആയിരം പുരുഷന്മാരെവീതം യുദ്ധത്തിനയയ്ക്കുക.”
5 And there were levied out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for the army.
അങ്ങനെ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ കുലങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ആയിരംപേർവീതം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു; അങ്ങനെ പന്തീരായിരം പുരുഷന്മാർ യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി.
6 And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the army; them and Phinehas the son of Elazar the priest, to the army, with the holy vessels, and the trumpets for blowing the alarm in his hand.
ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നും ആയിരംപേർ വീതമായിവന്ന അവരെ മോശ പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെ പുത്രൻ ഫീനെഹാസിനൊപ്പം യുദ്ധത്തിനയച്ചു. വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ഉപകരണങ്ങളും മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകുന്നതിനുള്ള കാഹളങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം തന്നോടൊപ്പം എടുത്തിരുന്നു.
7 And they marched out against the Midianites, as the Lord had commanded Moses; and they slew every male.
യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവർ മിദ്യാന്യരുമായി യുദ്ധംചെയ്ത് പുരുഷന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും വധിച്ചു.
8 And the kings of Midian they slew, besides the rest of their men that were slain; namely, Evi and Rekem, and Zur, and Chur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; and Bil'am the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
ആ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരെക്കൂടാതെ ഏവി, രേക്കെം, സൂർ, ഹൂർ, രേബ എന്നീ മിദ്യാനിലെ അഞ്ചു രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും വധിച്ചു. ബെയോരിന്റെ മകനായ ബിലെയാമിനെയും അവർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.
9 And the children of Israel took captives the women of Midian, and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as spoil.
ഇസ്രായേല്യർ മിദ്യാന്യസ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും തടവുകാരാക്കി; അവരുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ മുഴുവൻ എടുക്കുകയും അവരുടെ സമ്പത്ത് എല്ലാം കൊള്ളയിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
10 And all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their castles they burnt with fire.
മിദ്യാന്യർ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന സകലപട്ടണങ്ങളും അവരുടെ പാളയങ്ങളും അവർ തീയിട്ടു ചുട്ടു.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the booty, both of men and of cattle.
ജനങ്ങളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ സകലകൊള്ളവസ്തുക്കളും കവർച്ചയും അവർ എടുത്തു;
12 And they brought unto Moses, and to Elazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, the captives, and the booty, and the spoil, unto the camp, to the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാർ, കൊള്ളവസ്തുക്കൾ, കവർച്ച എന്നിവ മോശയുടെയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിന്റെയും ഇസ്രായേല്യസഭയുടെയും അടുക്കൽ, അവർ പാളയമടിച്ചിരുന്ന യെരീഹോവിനെതിരേ യോർദാൻനദിക്കരികെയുള്ള മോവാബ് സമതലത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
13 And Moses, and Elazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them, to without the camp.
മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഭാനേതാക്കന്മാരെല്ലാവരും പാളയത്തിനുപുറത്ത് അവരെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ പോയി.
14 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains over the thousands, and the captains over the hundreds, who had come from the war-campaign.
എന്നാൽ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു മടങ്ങിവന്ന സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരുമായ സൈന്യാധിപന്മാരോട് മോശ കോപിച്ചു:
15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye allowed all the females to live?
“സകലസ്ത്രീകളെയും നിങ്ങൾ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചുവോ?” മോശ അവരോടു ചോദിച്ചു.
16 Behold, these chiefly were the cause unto the children of Israel, through the counsel of Bil'am, to commit the gross trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor; through which there was the plague among the congregation of the Lord.
“യഹോവയുടെ ജനത്തിന്മേൽ ഒരു ബാധ വരാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം പെയോരിലെ സംഭവത്തിൽ ബിലെയാമിന്റെ ഉപദേശം അനുസരിച്ചതിനാൽ, ഇസ്രായേല്യർ യഹോവയോട് അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീരാൻ കാരണക്കാരായവർ അവരാണ്.
17 And now kill ye every male among the little ones, and every woman that hath known man by lying with him shall ye kill.
ഇപ്പോൾ സകല ആൺകുട്ടികളെയും പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ലൈംഗികബന്ധത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള സകലസ്ത്രീകളെയും വധിക്കുക.
18 But all among the women-children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
എന്നാൽ പുരുഷനോടുകൂടെ ഒരിക്കലും കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത സകലപെൺകുട്ടികളെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കായി രക്ഷിക്കുക.
19 But ye, —you must abide without the camp seven days: all ye who have killed any person, and all who have touched any one slain, shall purify yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day; both you and your captives.
“ആരെയെങ്കിലും കൊന്നിട്ടുള്ളവരോ കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട ആരെയെങ്കിലും സ്പർശിച്ചവരോ ആയ നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ഏഴുദിവസത്തേക്കു പാളയത്തിനു വെളിയിൽ പാർക്കണം. മൂന്നും ഏഴും ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ദികളെയും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കണം.
20 And every garment, and whatever is made of skins, and every work of goats' hair, and every vessel made of wood, shall ye purify unto yourselves.
അപ്രകാരംതന്നെ സകലവസ്ത്രങ്ങളും തുകൽ, ആട്ടുരോമം, മരം എന്നിവകൊണ്ടു നിർമിച്ച സകലതും ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കണം.”
21 And Elazar the priest said unto the men of the army who had gone to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded Moses:
ഇതിനുശേഷം പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാർ യുദ്ധത്തിനുപോയ പടയാളികളോടു പറഞ്ഞു, “യഹോവ മോശയ്ക്കു നൽകിയ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിലെ ചട്ടം ഇതാണ്:
22 Nevertheless the gold, and the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
സ്വർണം, വെള്ളി, വെങ്കലം, ഇരുമ്പ്, വെളുത്തീയം, കറുത്തീയം മുതലായ
23 Every thing that cometh into the fire shall ye make go through the fire, and it shall be clean; only it shall be purified with the waters of sprinkling: and whatsoever doth not come into the fire shall ye cause to go through the water.
തീയാൽ നശിക്കാത്ത മറ്റെന്തും തീയിലിട്ട് എടുക്കണം. അപ്പോൾ അവ ശുദ്ധമാകും. എന്നാൽ അവ ശുദ്ധീകരണജലത്താലും ശുദ്ധമാക്കപ്പെടണം. അഗ്നിയെ അതിജീവിക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്ത വസ്തു ഒക്കെയും ആ ജലത്തിലിട്ട് എടുക്കണം.
24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and after that may ye come into the camp.
ഏഴാംദിവസം നിങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം കഴുകണം; അപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ ശുദ്ധരാകും. പിന്നെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു പാളയത്തിലേക്ക് വരാം.”
25 And the Lord said unto Moses, as followeth,
യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു:
26 Take the sum of the booty of the captives, both of man and of cattle, thou, with Elazar the priest, and the chiefs of the families of the congregation:
“നീയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഭയിലെ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുംകൂടി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത സകലമനുഷ്യരെയും മൃഗങ്ങളെയും എണ്ണണം.
27 And thou shalt divide the booty, between those that carried on the war, who went out to the army, and between all the congregation.
യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത പടയാളികൾക്കും സമൂഹത്തിലെ മറ്റുള്ളവർക്കുമായി കൊള്ളമുതൽ തുല്യ രണ്ടോഹരിയായി പങ്കിടണം.
28 And thou shalt levy a tribute unto the Lord from the men of war who went out to the army, one individual from every five hundred, of the persons, and of the beef-cattle, and of the asses, and of the sheep;
യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത പടയാളികളുടേതിൽനിന്ന് യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാരോ കന്നുകാലികളോ കഴുതകളോ ചെമ്മരിയാടോ കോലാടോ ഏതുമാകട്ടെ, അഞ്ഞൂറിലൊന്നുവീതം യഹോവയ്ക്കായി വേർതിരിക്കണം.
29 From their half shall ye take it; and thou shalt give it unto Elazar the priest, for a heave-offering of the Lord.
അതു പടയാളികളുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്ന് പകുതി യഹോവയ്ക്കു വിശിഷ്ടയാഗാർപ്പണമായി പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിനു കൊടുക്കുക.
30 And from the half of the children of Israel, shalt thou take one individual, as it may come, from any fifty, of the persons, of beef-cattle, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of cattle; and thou shalt give the same unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.
ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്നു പകുതി യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാരോ കന്നുകാലികളോ കഴുതകളോ ചെമ്മരിയാടോ കോലാടോ മറ്റ് ഏതുമൃഗമോ ആകട്ടെ അൻപതിന് ഒന്നുവീതം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക. അവയെ യഹോവയുടെ സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന ലേവ്യർക്കു കൊടുക്കുക.”
31 And Moses with Elazar the priest did, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
അങ്ങനെ മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു.
32 And the booty, being the rest of the spoil which the men of the army had taken, was of sheep and goats, six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand,
പടയാളികൾ എടുത്ത കവർച്ചയ്ക്കുപുറമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കൊള്ളമുതൽ 6,75,000 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
33 And of beef-cattle, seventy and two thousand,
72,000 കന്നുകാലി,
34 And of asses, sixty and one thousand,
61,000 കഴുത,
35 And of human persons, of women that had not known men by lying with him, in all thirty and two thousand.
പുരുഷനുമായി ഒരിക്കലും കിടക്കപങ്കിട്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്തവരായ 32,000 സ്ത്രീകൾ ഇവയായിരുന്നു.
36 And the half, the portion of those who had gone out in the army, was, in the number of sheep and goats, three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred.
യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തവർക്കുള്ള ഓഹരി—കൊള്ളമുതലിന്റെ പകുതി—ഇവയായിരുന്നു: 3,37,500 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
37 And the tribute unto the Lord of the flocks was six hundred and seventy and five.
അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 675 ആയിരുന്നു;
38 And the beef-cattle were thirty and six thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was seventy and two.
36,000 കന്നുകാലി, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 72 ആയിരുന്നു;
39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was sixty and one.
30,500 കഴുത, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 61 ആയിരുന്നു;
40 And the human persons were sixteen thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was thirty and two persons.
16,000 ജനങ്ങൾ, അതിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കുള്ള വിഹിതം 32 ആയിരുന്നു.
41 And Moses gave the tribute, the Lord's heave-offering, unto Elazar the priest, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
യഹോവ മോശയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശ ആ വിഹിതം യഹോവയുടെ ഭാഗമായി പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരിനു കൊടുത്തു.
42 And from the half of the children of Israel, which Moses divided off from the men that had gone forth in the army, —
പോരാളികൾക്കുള്ളതിൽനിന്ന് മോശ വേർതിരിച്ച, പകുതി കൊള്ളമുതലിൽ, ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓഹരി
43 (Now the half of the congregation was, of sheep and goats three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred.
3,37,500 ചെമ്മരിയാട്,
44 And beef-cattle, thirty and six thousand,
36,000 കന്നുകാലി,
45 And asses thirty thousand five hundred,
30,500 കഴുത,
46 And human persons sixteen thousand; )
16,000 ജനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയായിരുന്നു.
47 And Moses took from this half of the children of Israel, as it came, one from every fifty, of man and of cattle, and gave the same unto the Levites, who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
യഹോവ തന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചതുപോലെ മോശ ഇസ്രായേല്യരുടെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്നു പകുതി യുദ്ധത്തടവുകാർ, മൃഗങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയിൽ അൻപതിന് ഒന്നുവീതം സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചിരുന്ന ലേവ്യർക്കു കൊടുത്തു.
48 And there came near unto Moses the officers who had been over the thousands of the army, the captains of the thousands, and the captains of the hundreds.
ഇതിനുശേഷം സൈന്യവിഭാഗങ്ങളുടെമേൽ നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരുമായ സൈന്യാധിപന്മാർ മോശയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന്
49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war who have been under our command, and there lacketh not one man of us.
അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “അങ്ങയുടെ ആജ്ഞാനുസരണം അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസന്മാർ പടയാളികളെ എണ്ണി. ഒരുവൻപോലും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടില്ല.
50 We have therefore brought an oblation unto the Lord, each what he hath gotten of vessels of gold, chains, and bracelets, finger-rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം ചെയ്യാൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും ലഭിച്ച സ്വർണ ഉരുപ്പടികളായ തോൾവള, കൈവള, മോതിരം, കുണുക്ക്, മാല എന്നിവ യഹോവയ്ക്ക് ഒരു കാഴ്ചയായിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.”
51 And Moses with Elazar the priest took the gold from them, all kinds of wrought articles.
മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും അവരിൽനിന്ന് കൈപ്പണിയായി നിർമിച്ച ആ സ്വർണ ഉരുപ്പടികൾ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the Lord, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of the thousands, and from the captains of the hundreds.
സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരിലും ശതാധിപന്മാരിലുംനിന്ന് അവർ യഹോവയ്ക്കു കാഴ്ചയായി അർപ്പിച്ച സ്വർണം ആകെ 16,750 ശേക്കേൽ ആയിരുന്നു.
53 The men of the army had taken spoil, every man for himself.
ഓരോ പടയാളിയും തനിക്കുവേണ്ടി കൊള്ളമുതൽ എടുത്തിരുന്നു.
54 And Moses and Elazar the priest took the gold from the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, as a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.
മോശയും പുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരിൽനിന്നും ശതാധിപന്മാരിൽനിന്നും സ്വർണം സ്വീകരിച്ച് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ ഇസ്രായേല്യർക്ക് ഒരു സ്മാരകമായി സമാഗമകൂടാരത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
