1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
2 Execute the vengeance of the children of Israel on the Midianites, after which thou shalt be gathered unto thy people.
»Skaf Israeliterne Hævn over Midjaniterne; saa skal du samles til din Slægt!«
3 And Moses spoke unto the people, saying, Arm from yourselves some men for the army, and let them go against the Midianites, to execute the vengeance of the Lord on Midian.
Da talte Moses til Folket og sagde: »Udrust Mænd af eders Midte til Kamp, for at de kan falde over Midjan og fuldbyrde HERRENS Hævn paa Midjan;
4 A thousand each for every tribe, of all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the army.
1000 Mand af hver af Israels Stammer skal I sende i Kamp!«
5 And there were levied out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for the army.
Af Israels Tusinder udtoges da 1000 af hver Stamme, i alt 12 000 Mand, rustede til Kamp.
6 And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the army; them and Phinehas the son of Elazar the priest, to the army, with the holy vessels, and the trumpets for blowing the alarm in his hand.
Og Moses sendte dem i Kamp, 1000 af hver Stamme, og sammen med dem Pinehas, Præsten Eleazars Søn, der medbragte de hellige Redskaber og Alarmtrompeterne.
7 And they marched out against the Midianites, as the Lord had commanded Moses; and they slew every male.
De drog saa ud i Kamp mod Midjaniterne, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses, og dræbte alle af Mandkøn;
8 And the kings of Midian they slew, besides the rest of their men that were slain; namely, Evi and Rekem, and Zur, and Chur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; and Bil'am the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
og foruden de andre, der blev slaaet ihjel, dræbte de ogsaa Midjans Konger, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur og Reba, Midjans fem Konger; ogsaa Bileam, Beors Søn, dræbte de med Sværdet.
9 And the children of Israel took captives the women of Midian, and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took as spoil.
Og Israeliterne bortførte Midjaniternes Kvinder og Børn som Krigsfanger, og alt deres Kvæg, alle deres Hjorde og alt deres Gods tog de med som Bytte;
10 And all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their castles they burnt with fire.
og alle deres Byer paa de beboede Steder og alle deres Teltlejre stak de Ild paa.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the booty, both of men and of cattle.
Og alt det røvede og hele Byttet, baade Mennesker og Dyr, tog de med sig,
12 And they brought unto Moses, and to Elazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, the captives, and the booty, and the spoil, unto the camp, to the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
og de bragte Fangerne, Byttet og det røvede til Moses og Præsten Eleazar og Israeliternes Menighed i Lejren paa Moabs Sletter ved Jordan over for Jeriko.
13 And Moses, and Elazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them, to without the camp.
Men Moses, Præsten Eleazar og alle Menighedens Øverste gik dem i Møde uden for Lejren,
14 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains over the thousands, and the captains over the hundreds, who had come from the war-campaign.
og Moses blev vred paa Hærens Førere, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, som kom tilbage fra Krigstoget.
15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye allowed all the females to live?
Og Moses sagde til dem: »Har I ladet alle Kvinder i Live?
16 Behold, these chiefly were the cause unto the children of Israel, through the counsel of Bil'am, to commit the gross trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor; through which there was the plague among the congregation of the Lord.
Det var jo dem, der efter Bileams Raad blev Aarsag til, at Israeliterne var troløse mod HERREN i den Sag med Peor, saa at Plagen ramte HERRENS Menighed.
17 And now kill ye every male among the little ones, and every woman that hath known man by lying with him shall ye kill.
Dræb derfor alle Drengebørn og alle Kvinder, der har kendt Mand og haft Samleje med Mænd;
18 But all among the women-children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
men alle Piger, der ikke har haft Samleje med Mænd, skal I lade i Live og beholde,
19 But ye, —you must abide without the camp seven days: all ye who have killed any person, and all who have touched any one slain, shall purify yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day; both you and your captives.
Men selv skal I lejre eder uden for Lejren i syv Dage, enhver, som har dræbt nogen, og enhver, som har rørt ved en dræbt, og rense eder paa den tredje og den syvende Dag, baade I selv og eders Krigsfanger.
20 And every garment, and whatever is made of skins, and every work of goats' hair, and every vessel made of wood, shall ye purify unto yourselves.
Og enhver Klædning, enhver Læderting, alt, hvad der er lavet af Gedehaar, og alle Træredskaber skal I rense!«
21 And Elazar the priest said unto the men of the army who had gone to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded Moses:
Og Præsten Eleazar sagde til Krigerne, der havde været med i Kampen: »Dette er det Lovbud, HERREN har givet Moses:
22 Nevertheless the gold, and the silver, the copper, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
Kun Guld, Sølv, Kobber, Jern, Tin og Bly,
23 Every thing that cometh into the fire shall ye make go through the fire, and it shall be clean; only it shall be purified with the waters of sprinkling: and whatsoever doth not come into the fire shall ye cause to go through the water.
alt, hvad der kan taale Ild, skal I lade gaa gennem Ild, saa bliver det rent; dog maa det renses med Renselsesvand. Men alt, hvad der ikke kan taale Ild, skal I lade gaa gennem Vand.
24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and after that may ye come into the camp.
Og eders klæder skal I tvætte paa den syvende Dag, saa bliver I rene og kan gaa ind i Lejren.«
25 And the Lord said unto Moses, as followeth,
Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
26 Take the sum of the booty of the captives, both of man and of cattle, thou, with Elazar the priest, and the chiefs of the families of the congregation:
»Sammen med Præsten Eleazar og Overhovederne for Menighedens Fædrenehuse skal du opgøre det samlede Bytte, der er taget, baade Mennesker og Dyr.
27 And thou shalt divide the booty, between those that carried on the war, who went out to the army, and between all the congregation.
Derefter skal du dele Byttet i to lige store Dele mellem dem, der har taget Del i Krigen og været i Kamp, og hele den øvrige Menighed.
28 And thou shalt levy a tribute unto the Lord from the men of war who went out to the army, one individual from every five hundred, of the persons, and of the beef-cattle, and of the asses, and of the sheep;
Derpaa skal du udtage en Afgift til HERREN fra Krigerne, der har været i Kamp, et Stykke af hver fem Hundrede, baade af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Smaakvæg;
29 From their half shall ye take it; and thou shalt give it unto Elazar the priest, for a heave-offering of the Lord.
det skal du tage af den Halvdel, som tilfalder dem, og give Præsten Eleazar det som Offerydelse til HERREN.
30 And from the half of the children of Israel, shalt thou take one individual, as it may come, from any fifty, of the persons, of beef-cattle, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of cattle; and thou shalt give the same unto the Levites, who keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.
Men af den Halvdel, der tilfalder de andre Israeliter, skal du tage et Stykke af hver halvtredsindstyve, baade af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Smaakvæg, alt Kvæget, og give det til Leviterne, som tager Vare paa, hvad der er at varetage ved HERRENS Bolig!«
31 And Moses with Elazar the priest did, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Da gjorde Moses og Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
32 And the booty, being the rest of the spoil which the men of the army had taken, was of sheep and goats, six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand,
Og det, de havde taget, det tiloversblevne af Byttet, som Krigsfolket havde gjort, udgjorde 675 000 Stykker Smaakvæg,
33 And of beef-cattle, seventy and two thousand,
72 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
34 And of asses, sixty and one thousand,
61 000 Æsler
35 And of human persons, of women that had not known men by lying with him, in all thirty and two thousand.

36 And the half, the portion of those who had gone out in the army, was, in the number of sheep and goats, three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred.
Den Halvdel, der tilfaldt dem, der havde været i Kamp, udgjorde altsaa et Tal af 337 500 Stykker Smaakvæg,
37 And the tribute unto the Lord of the flocks was six hundred and seventy and five.
hvoraf Afgiften til HERREN udgjorde 675 Stykker Smaakvæg,
38 And the beef-cattle were thirty and six thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was seventy and two.
36 000 Stykker Hornkvæg, hvoraf 72 i Afgift til HERREN,
39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was sixty and one.
30 500 Æsler, hvoraf til i Afgift til HERREN,
40 And the human persons were sixteen thousand; and the tribute thereof unto the Lord was thirty and two persons.
og 16 000 Mennesker, hvoraf 32 i Afgift til HERREN.
41 And Moses gave the tribute, the Lord's heave-offering, unto Elazar the priest, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Og Moses overgav Afgiften, HERRENS Offerydelse, til Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
42 And from the half of the children of Israel, which Moses divided off from the men that had gone forth in the army, —
Og af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israeliter, og som Moses havde taget som deres del fra de Mænd, der havde været i Kamp —
43 (Now the half of the congregation was, of sheep and goats three hundred thousand and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred.

44 And beef-cattle, thirty and six thousand,
36 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
45 And asses thirty thousand five hundred,

46 And human persons sixteen thousand; )

47 And Moses took from this half of the children of Israel, as it came, one from every fifty, of man and of cattle, and gave the same unto the Levites, who kept the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord; as the Lord had commanded Moses.
af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israeliter, udtog Moses et Stykke for hver halvtredsindstyve, baade af Mennesker og Kvæg, og gav dem til Leviterne, som tog Vare paa, hvad der var at varetage ved HERRENS Bolig, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
48 And there came near unto Moses the officers who had been over the thousands of the army, the captains of the thousands, and the captains of the hundreds.
Da traadte Førerne for Hærens Afdelinger, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, hen til Moses
49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war who have been under our command, and there lacketh not one man of us.
og sagde til ham: »Dine Trælle har holdt Mandtal over de Krigere, der stod under os; og der manglede ikke en eneste af os;
50 We have therefore brought an oblation unto the Lord, each what he hath gotten of vessels of gold, chains, and bracelets, finger-rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.
derfor frembærer nu enhver af os som Offergave til HERREN, hvad han har taget af Guldsmykker, Armbaand, Spange, Fingerringe, Ørenringe og Halssmykker, for at skaffe os Soning for HERRENS Aasyn.«
51 And Moses with Elazar the priest took the gold from them, all kinds of wrought articles.
Moses og Præsten Eleazar modtog Guldet af dem, alskens med Kunst virkede Smykker;
52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the Lord, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from the captains of the thousands, and from the captains of the hundreds.
og alt Offerydelsesguldet, som de ydede HERREN, udgjorde 16 750 Sekel, hvilket Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne bragte som Gave.
53 The men of the army had taken spoil, every man for himself.

54 And Moses and Elazar the priest took the gold from the captains of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, as a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.
Saa modtog Moses og Præsten Eleazar Guldet af Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne og bragte det ind i Aabenbaringsteltet, for at det skulde bringe Israeliterne i Minde for HERRENS Aasyn.
