Numbers 18
1 And the Lord said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy father's house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
Et le Seigneur dit à Aaron: Toi et tes fils, et la maison de ton père avec toi, vous porterez l’iniquité du sanctuaire: et toi et tes fils vous porterez ensemble les péchés de votre sacerdoce;
2 And also thy brethren, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined with thee, and minister unto thee; while thou and thy sons with thee shall be before the tabernacle of the testimony.
Mais prends aussi avec toi tes frères de la tribu de Lévi, et le sceptre de ton père, et qu’ils t’assistent et te servent; mais toi et tes fils, vous servirez dans le tabernacle du témoignage.
3 And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tabernacle: only unto the vessels of the sanctuary and unto the altar shall they not come near, that they may not die, either they or you.
Les Lévites veilleront à tes commandements et à toutes les œuvres du tabernacle; en sorte seulement qu’ils n’approchent point des vases du sanctuaire, et de l’autel, de peur qu’eux aussi ne meurent et que vous ne périssiez en même temps.
4 And they shall be joined unto thee, and keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, respecting all the service of the tabernacle: and a stranger shall not come nigh unto you.
Mais qu’ils soient avec toi, et qu’ils veillent à la garde du tabernacle et à toutes ses cérémonies. Un étranger ne se mêlera point avec vous.
5 And ye shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar; that there be not any more wrath upon the children of Israel.
Veillez à la garde du sanctuaire et au ministère de l’autel. afin qu’il ne s’élève point d’indignation contre les enfants d’Israël.
6 And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from the midst of the children of Israel; unto you are they given as a gift for the Lord, to perform the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
C’est moi qui vous ai donné vos frères les Lévites, pris du milieu des enfants d’Israël, et qui les ai offerts en don au Seigneur pour qu’ils servent dans le ministère de son tabernacle.
7 And thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priesthood concerning every matter of the altar, and for that within the vail, where ye shall serve: as a service of gift do I give you your priesthood; and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
Mais toi et tes fils, conservez votre sacerdoce; et tout ce qui appartient au service de l’autel, et qui est au dedans du voile sera fait par le ministère des prêtres. Si quelque étranger en approche, il sera mis à mort.
8 And the Lord spoke unto Aaron, And I, behold, I give thee the charge of my heave-offerings; of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel, unto thee have I given them as an official portion, and to thy sons, as a fixed right for ever.
Le Seigneur parla encore à Aaron: Voilà que je t’ai donné la garde de mes prémices. Tout ce qui est consacré par les enfants d’Israël, je te l’ai accordé à toi et à tes fils pour les fonctions sacerdotales; ce sera une loi perpétuelle.
9 This shall belong to thee of the most holy things, from the fire-[offerings]: every oblation of theirs, namely, every meat-offering of theirs, and every sin-offering of theirs, and every, trespass-offering of theirs, which they shall render unto me, shall, as most holy things, belong to thee and to thy sons.
Voici donc ce que tu prendras des choses qui sont sanctifiées et qui ont été offertes au Seigneur. Toute oblation et sacrifice et tout ce qui m’est rendu pour le péché et pour le délit, et devient une des choses très saintes, sera pour toi et pour tes fils.
10 In a most holy place shalt thou eat it: every male shall eat it; holy shall it be unto thee.
C’est dans le sanctuaire que que tu le mangeras; les mâles seulement en mangeront, parce que cela a été consacré pour toi.
11 And this shall be thine, as the heave-offering of their gift, of all the wave-offerings of the children of Israel; unto thee have I given them, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, as a fixed portion for ever: every one that is clean in thy house may eat thereof.
Quant aux prémices que les enfants d’Israël voueront, ou offriront spontanément, je te les ai données, à toi, à tes fils et à tes filles, par un droit perpétuel. Celui qui est pur dans ta maison en mangera.
12 All the best of oil, and all the best of wine, and of corn, the first-fruits thereof which they shall offer unto the Lord, to thee have I given them.
Toute moelle d’huile, de vin, de blé, tout ce qu’ils offrent de prémices au Seigneur, je te l’ai donné.
13 The first ripe fruit of whatsoever is in their land, which they may bring unto the Lord, shall be thine: every one that is clean in thy house may eat thereof.
Tous les premiers des fruits que produit le sol, et qui sont présentés au Seigneur, seront à ton usage: celui qui est pur dans ta maison en mangera.
14 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine.
Tout ce que les enfants d’Israël rendront en vertu d’un vœu, sera pour toi.
15 Whatever openeth the womb of all flesh, which they bring unto the Lord, be it of men or of cattle, shall be thine: nevertheless thou shalt redeem the first-born of man, and the firstling of the unclean cattle shalt thou redeem.
Tout ce qui sort le premier d’un sein de toute chair, qu’ils offrent au Seigneur, qu’il soit d’entre les hommes, ou d’entre les bêtes, sera à toi de plein droit: en sorte seulement que pour le premier-né d’un homme tu reçoives le prix, et que tu fasses racheter tout animal qui est impur,
16 And those that are to be redeemed from a month old shalt thou redeem, according to the usual estimation of five shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gerahs.
Dont le rachat sera après un mois, de cinq sicles d’argent, au poids du sanctuaire. Le sicle a vingt oboles.
17 But the firstling of an ox, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: their blood shalt thou sprinkle upon the altar, and their fat shalt thou burn as a fire-offering, for a sweet savor unto the Lord.
Mais le premier-né d’un bœuf, d’une brebis et d’une chèvre, tu ne le feras pas racheter, parce que nés animaux sont consacrés au Seigneur; tu répandras seulement leur sang sur l’autel, et tu brûleras les graisses en très suave odeur pour le Seigneur.
18 And their flesh shall be thine: as the breast that is waved and as the right shoulder shall it be thine.
Mais leur chair sera à ton usage, comme la poitrine consacrée et l’épaule droite seront à toi.
19 All the heave-offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel set apart unto the Lord, I have given to thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, as a fixed portion for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the Lord for thee and for thy seed with thee.
Je t’ai donné, à toi et à tes fils et à tes filles par un droit perpétuel toutes les prémices du sanctuaire qu’offrent les enfants d’Israël au Seigneur. C’est un pacte de sel à perpétuité devant le Seigneur pour toi et pour tes fils.
20 And the Lord said unto Aaron, In their land shalt thou have no inheritance, and any portion shalt thou not have among them: I am thy portion and thy inheritance among the children of Israel.
Le Seigneur dit encore à Aaron: Vous ne posséderez rien dans la terre des enfants d’Israël, et vous n’aurez aucune part parmi eux: c’est moi qui suis ta part et ton héritage au milieu des enfants d’Israël.
21 And to the children of Levi, behold, I have given every tithe in Israel, for an inheritance, in lieu of their service which they render, the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Mais aux enfants de Lévi, j’ai donné toutes les dîmes d’Israël en possession, à cause du ministère qu’ils remplissent pour moi dans le tabernacle d’alliance,
22 And the children of Israel shall not henceforth come nigh unto the tabernacle of the congregation, to bear sin, to die thereby.
Afin que les enfants d’Israël n’approchent plus du tabernacle, et ne commettent point de péché qui porte à la mort,
23 But they of the tribe of Levi themselves shall perform the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: a statute for ever shall it be throughout your generations; and among the children of Israel shall they not possess any inheritance.
Les seuls enfants de Lévi me servant dans le tabernacle, et portant les péchés du peuple. Ce sera une loi perpétuelle en vos générations. Ils ne posséderont rien autre chose,
24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave-offering unto the Lord, have I given to the Levites for an inheritance: therefore have I said unto them, Among the children of Israel shall they obtain no inheritance.
Contents de l’oblation des dîmes que j’ai mises à part pour leur usage, et pour tout ce qui leur est nécessaire.
25 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,
Le Seigneur parla aussi à Moïse, disant:
26 And unto the Levites shalt thou speak, and say unto them, When ye take from the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance: then shall ye separate therefrom a heave-offering of the Lord, the tenth part of the tithe.
Ordonne aux Lévites et déclare-leur: Lorsque vous aurez reçu des enfants d’Israël les dîmes que je vous ai données, offrez-en les prémices au Seigneur, c’est-à-dire, la dixième partie de la dîme,
27 And your heave-offering shall be reckoned unto you, like the corn of the threshing-floor, and as the fulness of the wine-press.
Afin qu’elle vous soit comptée comme une oblation des prémices, tant des aires, que des pressoirs;
28 Thus shall ye also offer a heave-offering unto the Lord from all your tithes, which ye may receive from the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the heave-offering of the Lord to Aaron the priest.
Et offrez au Seigneur, puis donnez à Aaron, le prêtre, de toutes les choses dont vous recevez les prémices.
29 From all your gifts shall ye set apart every heave-offering of the Lord, from every best part thereof, its hallowed portion therefrom.
Tout ce que vous offrirez des dîmes, et que vous mettrez à part comme offrandes au Seigneur, sera le meilleur et le mieux choisi.
30 And thou shalt say unto them, When ye have separated the best thereof from it: then shall [the remainder] be counted unto the Levites as the produce of the threshing-floor, and as the produce of the wine-press.
Tu leur diras encore: Si vous offrez des dîmes les plus belles et les meilleures choses, cela vous sera compté, comme si vous aviez donné les prémices d’une aire et d’un pressoir;
31 And ye may eat it in every place, ye and your households; for it is your reward in lieu of your service at the tabernacle of the congregation.
Or, vous mangerez ces dîmes dans toutes vos demeures, tant vous que vos familles, parce que c’est le prix du ministère que vous remplissez dans le tabernacle de témoignage.
32 And ye shall not bear any sin by reason of it, when ye have separated its best part from it: and the holy things of the children of Israel shall ye not profane, lest ye die.
Et vous ne pécherez point en réservant pour vous ce qu’il y a d’excellent et de gras, afin que vous ne souilliez pas les oblations des enfants d’Israël, et que vous ne mouriez point.
