Nehemiah 7
1 And it came to pass, when the wall was built, that I set up the doors; and then were appointed the gatekeepers and the singers and the [other] Levites [to their office].
När nu muren var uppbyggd, satte jag in dörrarna; och dörrvaktare, sångare och leviter blevo anställda.
2 And I gave my brother Chanani, and Chananyah the commander of the fortress, charge over Jerusalem; for he was esteemed a faithful man, and one that feared God these many days.
Och till befälhavare över Jerusalem satte jag min broder Hanani jämte Hananja, hövitsman i borgen, ty denne hölls för en pålitlig man och var gudfruktig mer än många andra.
3 And I said unto them, The gates of Jerusalem must not be opened until the sun be hot; and while ye stand by, let them shut the doors, and do ye bar them; and station watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one opposite to his house.
Och jag sade till dem: "Jerusalems portar må icke öppnas, förrän solen är högt uppe; och medan vakten ännu står kvar, skall man stänga dörrarna och sätta bommarna för. Och I skolen ställa ut vakter av Jerusalems invånare, var och en på hans post, så att envar får stå framför sitt eget hus."
4 But the city was roomy in space and large: while the people therein were few, and the houses were not yet built.
Och staden var vidsträckt och stor, men där fanns icke mycket folk, och husen voro icke uppbyggda.
5 Then did my God put it into my heart, and I assembled together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might give in their genealogy; and I found a register of the genealogy of those who were come up at the first, and I found written therein:
Och min Gud ingav mig i hjärtat att jag skulle församla ädlingarna, föreståndarna och folket för att upptecknas i släktregister. Då fann jag släktförteckningen över dem som först hade dragit upp, och jag fann däri så skrivet:
6 These arc the children of the province, that came up out of the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried into exile, and who returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his own city;
"Dessa voro de män från hövdingdömet, som drogo upp ur den landsflykt och fångenskap till vilken de hade blivit bortförda av Nebukadnessar, konungen i Babel, och som vände tillbaka till Jerusalem och till Juda, var och en till sin stad,
7 Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua', Nehemiah, 'Azaryah, Ra'amyah, Nachamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Misspereth, Bigvai, Nechum, Ba'anah. The number of the men of the people of Israel was:

60 All the temple-servants, and the children of Solomon' servants, were three hundred ninety and two.

61 And these were they who came up from Thel-melach, Thelcharsha, Kerub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not tell their family division and their descent, whether they were of Israel.

62 The children of Delayah, the children of Tobiyah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.

63 And of the priests: The children of Chobayah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gil'adite, and was called after their name.
Och av prästerna: Habajas barn, Hackos' barn, Barsillais barn, hans som tog en av gileaditen Barsillais döttrar till hustru och blev uppkallad efter deras namn.
64 These sought for their family register, but it was not found: wherefore they were excluded, as unfit, from the priesthood.
Dessa sökte efter sina släktregister, men man kunde icke finna dem; därför blevo de såsom ovärdiga uteslutna från prästadömet.
65 And the Thirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with the Urim and Thummim.
Och ståthållaren tillsade dem att de icke skulle få äta av det högheliga, förrän en präst uppstode med urim och tummim.
66 The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and sixty:

67 Besides these were their man-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred and forty and five singing men and singing women.
förutom deras tjänare och tjänarinnor, som voro sju tusen tre hundra trettiosju. Och till dem hörde två hundra fyrtiofem sångare och sångerskor.
68 Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
69 [Their] camels, four hundred thirty and five: [their] asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
Och de hade fyra hundra trettiofem kameler och sex tusen sju hundra tjugu åsnor.
70 And a portion of the chiefs of the divisions gave unto the work. The Thirshatha gave to the treasure, of gold one thousand drachms, fifty bowls, five hundred and thirty coats for the priests.
Och somliga bland huvudmännen för familjerna gåvo skänker till arbetet. Ståthållaren gav till kassan i guld ett tusen dariker, därtill femtio skålar och fem hundra trettio prästerliga livklädnader.
71 And some of the chiefs of the divisions gave to the treasury of the work, of gold twenty thousand drachms, and of silver two thousand and two hundred manehs.
Och somliga bland huvudmännen för familjerna gåvo till arbetskassan i guld tjugu tusen dariker och i silver två tusen två hundra minor.
72 And what the rest of the people gave was, of gold twenty thousand drachms, and of silver two thousand manehs, and priests coats sixty and seven.
Och det övriga folkets gåvor utgjorde i guld tjugu tusen dariker och i silver två tusen minor, så ock sextiosju prästerliga livklädnader.
73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the gatekeepers, and the singers, and some of the people, and the temple-servants, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities: and so came round the seventh month, while the children of Israel were in their cities.
Och prästerna, leviterna, dörrvaktarna, sångarna, en del av meniga folket samt tempelträlarna, korteligen hela Israel, bosatte sig i sina städer."
