Nehemiah 3
1 Then rose up Elyashib the high priest with his brethren the priests, and they built the sheep-gate; they sanctified it, and set up its doors: even as far as the tower of Meah did they sanctify it, as far as the tower of Chananel.
Elyachib, le grand-prêtre, et ses frères, les prêtres, se mirent à l’œuvre et bâtirent la porte des brebis; ils en firent la consécration et en posèrent les battants; de là ils bâtirent jusqu’à la tour des cent, qu’ils consacrèrent, et jusqu’à la tour de Hananel.
2 And by his side built the men of Jericho. And by his [other] side built Zaccur the son of Imri.
A côté bâtirent les gens de Jéricho, et à côté Zaccour, fils d’Imri.
3 But the fish-gate did the sons of Hassenaah build: they also laid its beams, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.
Les enfants de Senaa bâtirent la porte des poissons; ils en firent la charpente, en posèrent les battants, les verrous et les traverses.
4 And alongside of them repaired Meremoth the son of Uriyah, the son of Kakkoz. And alongside of them repaired Meshullam the son of Berechyah, the son of Meshezabel. And alongside of them repaired Zadok the son of Ba'ana.
A côté Merêmot, fils d’Ouria, fils de Hakoç, travailla aux réparations; à côté travailla Mechoullam, fils de Bérékhia, fils de Mechèzabel; à côté travailla Çadok, fils de Baana.
5 And alongside of them repaired the Teko'ites; but their principal men put not their necks to the work of their Lord.
A côté travaillèrent les gens de Tekoa, mais leurs notables ne se plièrent point au service de leur seigneur.
6 Moreover the old gate repaired Yoyada' the son of Passeach, and Meshullam the son of Bessodeyah: they laid its beams, and set up its doors, and its locks, and its bars.
Joïada, fils de Passêah, et Mechoullam, fils de Besodia, réparèrent la vieille porte; ils en firent la charpente, en posèrent les battants, les verrous et les traverses.
7 And alongside of them repaired Melatyah the Gib'onite, and Jadon the Meronothite, men of Gib'on and of Mizpah, unto the seat of the governor on this side of the river.
A côté travaillèrent Melatia de Gabaon et Yadôn de Mèrôn, des gens de Gabaon et de Miçpa, qui relevaient du siège du gouverneur de ce côté du fleuve.
8 Alongside of him repaired 'Uzziel the son of Charhayah, of the goldsmiths. And alongside of him repaired Chananyah the son of one of the apothecaries, and they fortified Jerusalem as far as the broad wall.
A côté travailla Ouzziel, fils de Harhaïa, de la corporation des orfèvres; à côté travailla Hanania, de la corporation des parfumeurs; ils renforcèrent Jérusalem jusqu’au rempart large.
9 And alongside of them repaired Rephayah the son of Chur, the chief of the half of the district of Jerusalem.
A côté travailla Refaïa, fils de Heur, chef de la moitié du district de Jérusalem.
10 And alongside of them repaired Jedayah the son of Charumaph, and this opposite to his house. And alongside of him repaired Chattush the son of Chashabneyah.
A côté travailla Yedaïa, fils de Haroumaf, vis-à-vis de sa maison; à côté travailla Hattouch, fils de Hachabneya.
11 Another division did Malkiyah the son of Charim, and Chashub the son of Pachathmoab, repair, as also the tower of the ovens.
Une seconde portion du mur fut réparée par Malkia, fils de Harim, et Hachoub, fils de Pahat-Moab, ainsi que la tour des fours.
12 And alongside of him repaired Shallum the son of Hallochesh, the chief of the other half of the district of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.
A côté, travailla Challoum, fils de Halohêch, chef de la moitié du district de Jérusalem, assisté de ses filles.
13 The gate of the valley repaired Chanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoach: they built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and a thousand cubits of the wall as far as the dung-gate.
La porte de la vallée fut réparée par Hanoun et les habitants de Zanoah: ils la bâtirent et en posèrent les battants, les verrous et les traverses; en outre, ils restaurèrent le mur sur une longueur de mille coudées jusqu’à la porte des ordures.
14 And the dung-gate repaired Malkiyah the son of Rechah, the chief of the district of Beth-hakkerem: he built it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars.
La porte des ordures fut réparée par Malkia, fils de Rêkhab, chef du district de Beth-Hakérém; celui-ci la rebâtit et en posa les battants, les verrous et les traverses.
15 And the gate of the fountain repaired Shallum the son of Col-chozeh, the chief of the district of Mizpah: he built it and covered it, and set up its doors, its locks, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Shelach by the king's garden, and as far as the stairs that lead down from the city of David.
La porte de la source fut réparée par Challoun, fils de Kol-Hozé, chef du district de Miçpa: celui-ci la bâtit, la surmonta d’un toit, en posa les battants, les verrous et les traverses; de plus, il refit le mur de l’étang de Chélah dans la direction du jardin royal et jusqu’aux marches qui conduisent au bas de la ville de David.
16 Next to him repaired Nehemiah the son of 'Azbuk, the chief of the half district of Beth-zur, as far as the place opposite to the sepulchres of David, and as far as the pool that was [newly] made, and as far as the house of the mighty men.
A la suite, travailla Néhémie, fils d’Azbouk, chef de la moitié du district de Beth-Çour, jusqu’en face des tombeaux de David et jusqu’à l’étang nouvellement creusé et la maison des héros.
17 Next to him repaired the Levites: Rechum the son of Bani. Alongside of him repaired Chashabyah, the chief of the half district of Ke'ilah, for his district.
A la suite, travaillèrent les Lévites dirigés par Rehoum, fils de Bâni; à côté travailla Hachabia, chef de la moitié du district de Keïla, pour son district.
18 Next to him repaired their brethren: Bavai the son of Chenadad, the chief of the [other] half district of Ke'ilah.
A la suite, travaillèrent leurs frères dirigés par Bawaï, fils de Hênadad, chef de l’autre moitié du district de Keïla.
19 And there repaired alongside of him 'Ezer the son of Joshua, the chief of Mizpah, another division, opposite to the ascent to the armory at the angle.
A côté de lui Ezer, fils de Yêchoua, chef de Miçpa, répara une deuxième portion de mur vis-à-vis de Ia montée de l’arsenal, dans l’angle.
20 Next to him did Baruch the son of Zaccai' earnestly repair another division, from the angle as far as the door of the house of Elyashib the high priest.
A sa suite, Baruch, fils de Zabbaï, travailla avec ardeur à une deuxième portion, depuis l’angle jusqu’à l’entrée de la maison d’Elyachib, le grand-prêtre.
21 Next to him repaired Meremoth the son of Uriyah the son of Hakkoz another division, from the door of the house of Elyashib even as far as the end of the house of Elyashib.
A sa suite, Merêmot, fils d’Ouria, fils de Hakoç, travailla à une deuxième portion, depuis l’entrée de la maison d’Elyachib jusqu’à l’extrémité de la maison d’Elyachib.
22 And next to him repaired the priests, the men of the plain [of Jordan].
A sa suite, travaillèrent les prêtres, les gens du cercle.
23 Next to him repaired Benjamin and Chashub opposite to their house. Next to him repaired 'Azaryah the son of Ma'aseyah the son of 'Ananyah alongside of his house.
A la suite, travaillèrent Benjamin et Hachoub vis-à-vis de leur maison; à leur suite, travailla Maria, fils de Maassèya, fils d’Anania, auprès de sa maison.
24 Next to him repaired Binnui the son of Chenadad another division, from the house of 'Azaryah as far as the angle, and as far as the corner.
A sa suite, travailla Binnoui, fils de Hênadad, à une deuxième portion, depuis la maison d’Azaria jusqu’à l’angle et jusqu’à l’encoignure.
25 Palal the son of Uzai [repaired] from opposite to the angle, and the tower which standeth out from the king's upper house, that was by the court of the prison. Next to him Pedayah the son of Par'osh.
Palal, fils d’Ouzaï, travailla vis-à-vis de l’encoignure et de la tour supérieure, qui fait saillie sur la maison du roi et confine à la cour de la prison; à sa suite, travailla Pedaïa, fils de Paroch.
26 And the temple-servants dwelt on the hill fort, [and they built] as far as opposite to the water-gate toward the east, and the tower that standeth out.
Les serviteurs du temple étaient établis sur la colline fortifiée, jusqu’en face de la porte de l’eau à l’est et la tour en saillie.
27 Next to them repaired the Teko'ites another division from opposite the great tower that standeth out, and as far as the wall of the hill fort.
A la suite, les gens de Tekoa réparèrent une seconde portion, en face de la grande tour en saillie et jusqu’au mur de la colline fortifiée.
28 From above the horse-gate repaired the priests, every one opposite to his house.
Au-dessus de la porte des chevaux, travaillèrent les prêtres, chacun en face de sa maison.
29 Next to this repaired Zadok the son of Immer opposite to his house. And next to him repaired Shema'yah the son of Schechanyah, the keeper of the east gate.
A la suite, travailla Çadok, fils d’Immêr, en face de sa maison; à la suite, travailla Chemaïa, fils de Chekhania, gardien de la porte orientale.
30 Next to him repaired Chananyah the son of Shelemyah, and Chanun the sixth son of Zalaph another division. Next to him repaired Meshullam the son of Berechyah opposite to his chamber.
A la suite, Hanania, fils de Chélémia, et Hanoun, le sixième fils de Çalaf, réparèrent une deuxième portion; à la suite, travailla Mechoullam, fils de Bérékhia, en face de sa chambre.
31 Next to him repaired Malkiyah the goldsmith's son as far as the house of the temple-servants, and of the merchants, opposite to the mustering-gate, and to the upper chamber of the corner.
A la suite, Malkia, de la corporation des orfèvres, travailla jusqu’à la maison des serviteurs du temple et des marchands, en face de la porte du recensement et jusqu’au donjon de l’angle.
32 And between the upper chamber of the corner and the sheep-gate repaired the goldsmiths and the merchants.
Et entre le donjon de l’angle et la porte des brebis, les réparations furent faites par les orfèvres et les marchands.
