Nehemiah 12
1 And these are the priests and the Levites that came up with Zerubbabel the son of Shealthiel, and Jeshua': Serayah, Jeremiah, 'Ezra,
Voici les prêtres et les Lévites qui revinrent avec Zorobabel, fils de Chealtiêl, et Yêchoua: Seraïa, Jérémie, Ezra;
2 Amaryah, Malluch, Chattush,
Amaria, Mallouc, Hattouch;
3 Shechanyah, Rechum, Meremoth,
Chekhania, Rehoum, Merêmot;
4 'Iddo, Ginnethoy, Abiyah,
Iddo, Ghinnetoï, Abia;
5 Miyamin, Ma'adyah, Bilgah,
Miyamin, Maadia, Bilga;
6 Shema'yah, and Joyarib, Jed'ayah,
Chemaïa, Yoyarib, Yedaïa;
7 Sallu, 'Amok, Chilkiyah, Jed'ayah. These were the chiefs of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua'.
Sallou, Amok, Hilkia, Yedaïa. Voilà quels étaient les chefs des prêtres et de leurs frères au temps de Yêchoua.
8 And the Levites: Jeshua', Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebyah, Judah, and Matthaniah, who was over the songs of thanksgiving, he and his brethren;
Les Lévites étaient: Yêchoua, Binnoui, Kadmiêl, Chèrèbia, Juda, Mattania, préposé aux cantiques, lui et ses frères;
9 And Bakbukyah and 'Unni, their brethren, were opposite to them in the watches.
Bakboukia et Ounni, leurs frères, les assistaient selon l’ordre des sections.
10 And Jeshua' begat Joyakim, and Joyakim begat Elyashib, and Elyashib begat Joyada'.
Yêchoua engendra Joïakim, Joïakim engendra Elyachib, Elyachib engendra Joïada;
11 And Joyada' begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua'.
Joïada engendra Jonathan, Jonathan engendra Yaddoua.
12 And in the days of Joyakim were priests, as chiefs of the divisions: Of Serayah, Merayah; of Jeremiah, Chananyah;
Voici les prêtres qui furent, au temps de Joïakim, chefs des familles: pour Seraïa, Meraïa; pour Jérémie, Hanania;
13 Of 'Ezra, Meshullam; of Amaryah, Jehochanan;
pour Ezra, Mechoullam; pour Amaria, Johanan;
14 Of Mellchu, Jonathan; of Shebanyah, Joseph;
pour Melikhou, Jonathan; pour Chebania, Joseph;
15 Of Charim, 'Adna; of Merayoth, Chelkai;
pour Harim, Adna; pour Meraïot, Helkaï;
16 Of 'Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;
pour Iddo, Zacharie; pour Ghinnetôn, Mechoullam;
17 Of Abiyah, Zichri; of Minyamin, of Mo'adyah, Piltai;
pour Abia, Zikhri; pour Miniamin, pour Moadia, Piltaï;
18 Of Bilgah, Shammua'; of Shem'ayah, Jehonathan;
pour Bilga, Chammoua; pour Chemaïa, Jonathan;
19 And of Joyarib, Matthenai; of Jeda'yah, 'Uzzi;
pour Yoyarib, Mattenaï; pour Yedaïa, Ouzzi;
20 Of Sallai, Kallai; of 'Amok, 'Eber;
pour Sallaï, Kaliaï, pour Amok, Eber;
21 Of Chilkiyah, Chashabyah; of Jeda'yah, Nethanel.
pour Hilkia, Hachabia; pour Yedaïa, Nethanel.
22 Of the Levites in the days of Elyashib, Yoyada', and Yochanan, and Jaddua', are written down the chiefs of the divisions: also those of the priests to the reign of Darius the Persian.
En ce qui concerne les Lévites, leurs chefs de famille furent inscrits au temps d’Elyachib, de Joïada, de Johanan et de Yaddoua; de même pour les prêtres, jusqu’au règne de Darius le Perse.
23 The sons of Levi, the chiefs of the divisions were written down in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Jochanan the son of Elyashib.
Fils de Lévi, chefs des familles, inscrits dans le livre des chroniques jusqu’aux jours de Johanan, fils d’Elyachib;
24 And the chiefs of the Levites were: Chashabyah, Sherebyah, and Jeshua' the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren opposite to them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the command of David the man of God, section by section.
ces chefs de Lévites étaient: Hachabia, Chèrèbia, Yêchoua, fils de Kadmiel, qu’assistaient leurs frères dans la récitation des louanges et actions de grâces, suivant le règlement de David, homme de Dieu, section par section;
25 Matthanyah, and Bakbukyah, 'Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, 'Akkub, were watching gatekeepers on the watch at the thresholds of the gates.
Mattania, Bakboukia, Obadia, Mechoullam, Talmôn, Akkoub, surveillants, portiers préposés à la garde des magasins près des portes.
26 These were in the days of Joyakim, the son of Jeshua', the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of 'Ezra the priest, the expounder.
Voilà ceux qui fonctionnaient au temps de Joïakim, fils de Yêchoua, fils de Joçadak, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et du prêtre Ezra, le scribe.
27 And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to celebrate the dedication with joy, with thanksgivings, and with singing, cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.
Lors de l’inauguration du mur de Jérusalem, on se mit en quête des Lévites dans tous leurs lieux d’habitation pour les amener à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer l’inauguration en une fête joyeuse, avec des actions de grâces et des chants, des cymbales, des lyres et des harpes.
28 And there gathered themselves together the sons of the singers, both out of the district round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophah;
Les membres des chœurs de chanteurs s’assemblèrent tant du district qui avoisine Jérusalem que des villages de Netofa,
29 Also from Beth-hagilgal, and out of the fields of Geba' and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves villages round about Jerusalem.
de Beth-Ghilgal et des campagnes de Ghéba et d’Azmaveth, car les chanteurs s’étaient bâti des villages autour de Jérusalem.
30 And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and then they purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.
Les prêtres et les Lévites se purifièrent, puis ils purifièrent le peuple, ainsi que les portes et les murs.
31 Then brought I up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and stationed two great companies for thanksgiving, and trains to walk on the right hand upon the wall by the dung-gate;
Je fis monter les chefs de Juda sur la muraille et j’y plaçai deux grands chœurs avec des cortèges, dont l’un s’avança à droite sur la muraille vers la porte des ordures;
32 And after them walked Hosha'yah, and half of the princes of Judah,
à sa suite marchaient Hochaïa et la moitié des chefs de Juda,
33 And 'Azaryah, 'Ezra, and Meshullam,
Azaria, Ezra, Mechoullam,
34 Judah, and Benjamin, and Shema'yah, and Jeremiah;
Juda, Benjamin, Chemaïa et Jérémie.
35 And of the sons of priests' with trumpets, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shema'yah, the son of Matthanyah, the son of Michayah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Assaph;
Puis une partie des prêtres avec des trompettes: Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Chemaïa, fils de Mattania, fils de Mikhaïa, fils de Zaccour, fils d’Assaph;
36 And his brethren, Shema'yah, and 'Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Ma'ai, Nethanel, and Judah, Chanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and 'Ezra the expounder walked before them.
ses frères: Chemaïa, Azarel, Milalaï, Ghilalaï, Maaï, Nethanel, Juda, Hanâni, munis des instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. A leur tête marchait Ezra le scribe.
37 And over the fountain-gate, and straight before them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall, above the house of David, even as far as the water-gate, eastward.
Ils arrivèrent à la porte de la source et gravirent droit devant eux, par les degrés de la ville de David, la montée du mur s’élevant au-dessus du palais du roi et jusqu’à la porte de l’eau à l’est.
38 And the other company for thanksgiving that walked in the opposite direction to them, —this one did I follow, and the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the ovens even as far as the broad wall;
Le deuxième chœur, qui se dirigeait à l’opposite, et que je suivais avec la moitié du peuple, s’avança sur le mur au-dessus de la tour des fours, et jusqu’au rempart large;
39 And above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish-gate, and the tower of Chananel, and the tower of Meah, even as far as the sheep-gate; and they halted at the prison-gate.
puis au-dessus de la porte d’Ephraïm, de la porte vieille, de la porte des poissons, de la tour de Hananel, de la tour des cent jusqu’à la porte des brebis; on s’arrêta à la porte de la prison.
40 So did the two companies for thanksgiving place themselves in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me.
Les deux chœurs prirent place près de la maison de Dieu, moi présent et accompagné de la moitié des chefs,
41 And the priests, Elyakim, Ma'asseyah, Minyamin, Michayah, Elyo'enai, Zechariah, and Chananiah, with trumpets;
ainsi que des prêtres Elyakim, Maassèya, Miniamim, Mikhaïa, Elyoènaï, Zacharie, Hanania, munis de trompettes,
42 And Ma'asseyah, and Shema'yah, and El'azar, and 'Uzzi, and Jehochanan, and Malkiyah, and 'Elam, and 'Ezer. And the singers sang aloud, with Yisrachyah as their overseer.
et de Maassèya, Chemaïa, Eléazar, Ouzzi, Johanan, Malkia, Elam et Ezer. Les chanteurs se firent entendre, ayant Israhia pour chef.
43 And they sacrificed on that day great sacrifices, and rejoiced; for God had caused them to rejoice with great joy; and also the women and the children rejoiced: so that the [shout of] joy of Jerusalem was heard even at a great distance off.
Ils immolèrent en ce jour de nombreux sacrifices et se livrèrent à des réjouissances, car Dieu leur avait donné une grande joie; les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent également, et les démonstrations de joie de Jérusalem furent entendues au loin.
44 And there were appointed at that day certain men as superintendents over the chambers for the treasuries, for the heave-offerings, for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions according to the law for the priests and the Levites; for Judah had joy on the priests and on the Levites that stood there,
En ce même temps, des hommes furent préposés aux salles servant de dépôt pour les prélèvements, les prémices et les dîmes, et où affluèrent, des banlieues des villes, les parts attribuées par la Thora aux prêtres et aux Lévites; car Juda était ravi des prêtres et des Lévites, qui étaient à leur poste,
45 And kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and as singers and gatekeepers, according to the command of David, [and] of Solomon his son.
veillant aux observances de leur Dieu et au maintien de la pureté; quant aux chanteurs et aux portiers, ils fonctionnaient selon les prescriptions de David et de son fils Salomon.
46 For in the days of David and Assaph of old there were chiefs of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.
En effet, dès les jours de David et d’Assaph, dans les temps antiques, il y avait des chefs de chanteurs et des chants de louanges et d’actions de grâces à Dieu.
47 And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the gatekeeper, what was required for every day on its day; and they sanctified things for the Levites: and the Levites sanctified [the portion due] for the children of Aaron.
Et au temps de Zorobabel comme au temps de Néhémie, tous les Israélites donnaient les parts des chanteurs et des portiers, suivant les besoins de chaque jour, et consacraient aux Lévites leur dû et les Lévites consacraient leur dû aux fils d’Aaron.
