Nahum 3
1 Woe to the city of blood! it is all full of lies and robbery; never ceaseth the preying;
¡Ay de la ciudad sangrienta! Toda ella está llena de mentiras y robos, sin fin de la rapiña.
2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of wheels, and of prancing horses, and of the skipping chariots.
El ruido del látigo, el ruido del traqueteo de las ruedas, los caballos que brincan y los carros que saltan,
3 Horsemen mount, and there are the flaming sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and heaps of carcasses; and without end are the corpses; they stumble on their corpses;
el jinete que embiste, y la espada reluciente, la lanza que brilla, y una multitud de muertos, y un gran montón de cadáveres, y no hay fin de los cuerpos. Tropiezan con sus cuerpos
4 Because of the multitude of the lewd deeds of the harlot, that is rich in gracefulness, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her lewd deeds, and families through her witchcrafts.
a causa de la multitud de la prostitución de la prostituta seductora, la señora de la brujería, que vende naciones por su prostitución, y familias por su brujería.
5 Behold, I will be against thee, saith the Lord of hosts; and I will lay thy skirts open over thy face, and I will let nations see thy nakedness, and kingdoms thy shame.
He aquí que yo estoy contra ti — dice el Señor de los Ejércitos — y levantaré tus faldas sobre tu rostro. Mostraré a las naciones tu desnudez, y a los reinos tu vergüenza.
6 And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and defile thee, and will render thee a dirt-heap.
Arrojaré sobre ti inmundicias abominables y te envileceré, y te convertiré en un espectáculo.
7 And it shall come to pass, that all they that see thee shall flee from thee, and say, Laid waste is Nineveh: who will condole with her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
Sucederá que todos los que te miren huirán de ti y dirán: “¡Nínive ha sido arrasada! ¿Quién la llorará? ¿Dónde buscaré consoladores para ti?”
8 Art thou better than No-amon, that was situated on the rivers, that had water round about her, the rampart of which was the sea, and the walls of which rose out of the sea?
¿Acaso eres mejor que No-Amón, que estaba situada entre los ríos, que tenía las aguas a su alrededor, cuya muralla era el mar, y su muro era del mar?
9 Ethiopia the numerous, and Egypt that was without end, Put and Lubim were thy helpers.
Cus y Egipto eran su fuerza ilimitada. Put y Libia fueron sus ayudantes.
10 Yet also she was exiled, was carried away into captivity; also her young children were dashed in pieces at the corners of all streets: and for her honorable men they cast lots, and all her great ones were bound with chains.
Sin embargo, fue arrastrada. Fue llevada al cautiverio. Sus hijos pequeños fueron despedazados a la cabeza de todas las calles, y echaron suertes sobre sus hombres honorables, y todos sus grandes hombres fueron encadenados.
11 Thou also shalt be made drunken, thou shalt be hidden from view: thou also shalt seek refuge because of the enemy.
Tú también te embriagarás. Estarás escondido. Tú también buscarás refugio a causa del enemigo.
12 All thy strong-holds shall be like fig-trees with the first ripe figs, which, if they be shaken, will fall into the mouth of the eater.
Todas tus fortalezas serán como las higueras con los primeros higos maduros. Si son sacudidas, caen en la boca del que las come.
13 Behold, thy people are become women in the midst of thee: unto thy enemies are the gates of thy land set wide open; the fire hath devoured thy bars.
He aquí que tus tropas en medio de ti son mujeres. Las puertas de tu tierra están abiertas de par en par a tus enemigos. El fuego ha devorado tus barras.
14 Water for the siege draw for thyself, fortify thy strongholds: go into the clay, and tread the mortar, make strong the brick-kiln.
Saca agua para el asedio. Fortalece sus fortalezas. Entra en la arcilla y pisa la argamasa. Haz fuerte el horno de ladrillos.
15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall devour thee up like the cankerworm: [though] thou make thyself many as the cankerworm; make thyself many as the locusts.
Allí el fuego te devorará. La espada te cortará. Te devorará como al saltamontes. Multiplícate como el saltamontes. Multiplícate como la langosta.
16 [Though] thou hadst multiplied thy merchants more than the stars of heaven: the cankerworm spreadeth itself out, and flieth away.
Haz aumentado tus mercaderes más que las estrellas de los cielos. El saltamontes se despoja y huye.
17 Thy crowned ones are like the locusts, and thy leaders like the swarms of locusts, which camp in the hedges on a cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.
Tus guardias son como las langostas, y tus funcionarios como las nubes de langostas, que se posan en las paredes en un día frío, pero cuando aparece el sol, huyen, y no se sabe dónde están.
18 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; thy valiant men are at rest: scattered are thy people upon the mountains, and there is none that gathereth them.
Tus pastores duermen, rey de Asiria. Tus nobles se acuestan. Tu pueblo está disperso por los montes, y no hay quien lo reúna.
19 There is no healing for thy breach; fatal is thy wound: all that hear the report of thee will clap their hands over thee; for over whom did not thy wickedness pass continually?
No hay quien sane tu herida, pues tu lesión es mortal. Todos los que oyen hablar de ti aplauden sobre ti, pues ¿quién no ha sentido tu infinita crueldad?
