Nahum 2
1 The destroyer is come up against thee to enclose [thee] with works of siege: look out on the way, make thy loins strong, strengthen [thyself] greatly with power.
हे नीनवेह, एक आक्रमण करनेवाला तुम्हारे विरुद्ध में आ रहा है. इसलिये गढ़ों की पहरेदारी करो, सड़कों की रखवाली करो, अपने आपको मजबूत बनाओ, अपने संपूर्ण सैन्य बल को एकत्र कर लो!
2 For the Lord bringeth back again the excellency of Jacob, as also the excellency of Israel; for the plunderers have plundered them, and have wasted branches of their vines.
याहवेह याकोब की शोभा को इस्राएल की शोभा की तरह ज्यों का त्यों कर देंगे, यद्यपि नाश करनेवालों ने उन्हें उजाड़ दिया है और उनकी दाख-लताओं को नाश कर दिया है.
3 The shields of his mighty men are made red, the valiant men are [clothed] in scarlet: with the fire of the steel the chariots [glitter] on the day when he prepareth himself [for battle], and the spears are shaken.
उसके सैनिकों की ढाल का रंग लाल है; उसके योद्धा भड़कीले लाल वस्त्र पहने हुए हैं. जिस दिन उन्हें युद्ध के लिए तैयार किया जाता है, उनके रथों का धातु चमकता है; सनोवर की बर्छियां घुमाई जाती हैं.
4 In the streets the chariots rush madly along, they rattle through the public places: their appearance is like torches, they run along like the lightnings.
गलियों में रथ तेज गति से दौड़ते हैं, और चौराहों में इधर से उधर भागते रहते हैं. वे जलती मशालों की तरह दिखते हैं; वे बिजली की तरह भागते हैं.
5 He will summon his valiant men, they shall stumble in their walk: they hasten to her walls, and the covering for defence is prepared.
नीनवेह अपने चुने हुए सैनिक दलों को आदेश देता है, पर वे अपने रास्ते में लड़खड़ाते हैं. वे शहर की दीवार से टकराते हैं; सुरक्षा की ढाल अपनी जगह में खड़ी की गई है.
6 The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.
नदी के द्वार खोल दिए गए हैं और महल गिरने लगता है.
7 And the queen is carried away into exile stripped of her attire, and her maids moan as with the voice of doves, striking their hand upon their breast.
यह फैसला हो गया है कि नीनवेह बंधुआई में चला जाएगा. उसकी गुलाम महिलायें पंड़की की तरह विलाप करेंगी और अपनी छाती पीटेंगी.
8 And Nineveh was like a pool of water from the days that she existed: yet now they flee. “Stand, stand,” [shall they cry, ] but none shall look back.
नीनवेह पानी के एक पोखरी के समान है, जिसका पानी सूखता जा रहा है. वे चिल्लाकर कहते हैं, “रुक जाओ! रुक जाओ!” किंतु कोई भी मुड़कर देखता तक नहीं.
9 Plunder silver, plunder gold; for without end are the treasures, there is an abundance of all precious vessels.
चांदी को लूटो! सोने को लूटो! इसके सब खजानों से, धन की आपूर्ति असीमित है!
10 She is void, and emptied out, and wasted; and the heart melteth, and the knees totter, and trembling is in all loins, and the faces of them all are covered with blackness.
उसे लूट लिया, छीन लिया और निर्वस्त्र कर दिया गया है! उसमें साहस ही न रहा, उसके घुटनों का बल जाता रहा, शरीर कांप रहे हैं और प्रत्येक के चेहरे का रंग उड़ गया है.
11 Where is [now] the dwelling of the lions, and what was the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion, the lioness, and the lion's whelp walked, and none made them afraid?
कहां है सिंहों का मांद, वह जगह जहां वे जवान सिंहों को भोजन खिलाते थे, जहां सिंह और सिंहनी जाते थे, और उनके बच्चे निडर होकर रहते थे?
12 The lion tore in pieces [prey] enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled with prey his holes, and his dens with what he had torn.
सिंह अपने बच्चों के लिए पर्याप्त शिकार करता था और अपनी साथी सिंहनी के लिए शिकार का गला दबा लेता था, और अपनी मांद को मारे गये पशु से और अपनी गुफा को शिकार से भर लेता था.
13 Behold, I will be against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn into smoke thy chariots, and thy young lions shall the sword devour: and I will cut off from the earth thy preying, and no more shall be heard the voice of thy messengers.
सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह की यह घोषणा है, “मैं तुम्हारे विरुद्ध हूं. मैं तुम्हारे रथों को आग से जला डालूंगा, और तुम्हारे जवान सिंह तलवार से मार डाले जाएंगे. मैं पृथ्वी पर तुम्हारे शिकार करने के लिये कुछ नहीं छोड़ूंगा. तुम्हारे संदेशवाहकों की आवाज फिर कभी सुनाई नहीं देगी.”
