Nahum 1
1 The doom of Nineveh, The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
নীনবী সংক্রান্ত এক ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী। ইল্কোশীয় নহূমের দর্শন সম্বলিত পুস্তক।
2 A God watchful and avenging is the Lord; an avenger is the Lord, and full of fury; the Lord taketh vengeance on his adversaries, and keepeth in mind the deeds of his enemies.
সদাপ্রভু ঈর্ষান্বিত এবং প্রতিফলদাতা ঈশ্বর; সদাপ্রভু প্রতিশোধ নেন এবং তিনি ক্রোধে পরিপূর্ণ। সদাপ্রভু তাঁর শত্রুদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রতিশোধ নেন এবং তাঁর প্রতিপক্ষদের বিরুদ্ধে তাঁর ক্রোধ ঢেলে দেন।
3 The Lord is long-suffering, and great in power, but he will by no means clear the guilty: the Lord—in the whirlwind and in the storm is his way, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধে ধীর কিন্তু পরাক্রমে মহান; সদাপ্রভু দোষীদের অদণ্ডিত অবস্থায় ছেড়ে দেবেন না। ঘূর্ণিঝড় ও ঝটিকাই তাঁর পথ, ও মেঘরাশি তাঁর পদধূলি।
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and all the rivers he drieth up: Bashan then withereth, with Carmel, and the flowers of Lebanon wither.
তিনি র্ভৎসনা করে সমুদ্রকে শুকনো করে দেন; তিনি সব নদনদী জলশূন্য করে দেন। বাশন ও কর্মিল শুকিয়ে যায় এবং লেবাননের ফুলগুলিও ম্লান হয়ে যায়।
5 Mountains quake before him, and the hills melt away; and the earth is lifted up at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.
তাঁর সামনে পর্বতমালা কেঁপে ওঠে এবং পাহাড়গুলি গলে যায়। তাঁর উপস্থিতিতে পৃথিবী কম্পিত হয়, জগৎ এবং সব জগৎবাসীও হয়।
6 Before his indignation who can stand? and who can subsist before the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken down by him.
তাঁর ঘৃণামিশ্রিত ক্রোধের প্রতিরোধ কে করতে পারে? তাঁর প্রচণ্ড ক্রোধ কে সহ্য করতে পারে? তাঁর ক্রোধ আগুনের মতো ঢালা হয়েছে; তাঁর সামনে পাষাণপাথরগুলি চূর্ণবিচূর্ণ হয়েছে।
7 The Lord is good, a strong-hold on the day of distress; and he knoweth those that trust in him.
সদাপ্রভু মঙ্গলময়, সংকটকালে এক আশ্রয়স্থল। যারা তাঁতে নির্ভরশীল হয় তিনি তাদের যত্ন নেন,
8 But with an overflowing flood will he utterly destroy the place of [Nineveh], and his enemies will he pursue with darkness.
কিন্তু এক অপ্রতিরোধ্য বন্যা পাঠিয়ে তিনি নীনবীকে ধ্বংস করে দেবেন; তাঁর শত্রুদের পশ্চাদ্ধাবন করে তিনি অন্ধকারের রাজ্যে নিয়ে যাবেন।
9 What will you devise against the Lord? he is bringing about an utter destruction, the distress shall not rise up twice.
সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে তারা যে চক্রান্তই করুক না কেন তিনি তা নষ্ট করে দেবেন; দ্বিতীয়বার আর বিপত্তি আসবে না।
10 For they, like thorns interwoven, and as men made drunken in their drinking bout, shall be entirely consumed as dry stubble.
তারা কাঁটাঝোপে আটকে যাবে এবং মদের নেশায় মাতাল হবে; শুকনো নাড়ার মতো তারা ক্ষয়ে যাবে।
11 There is gone forth out of thee he that devised evil against the Lord, the counsellor of infamous things.
হে নীনবী, এমন একজন তোমার মধ্যে থেকে বেরিয়ে এসেছে যে সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে অনিষ্টের চক্রান্ত করে এবং দুষ্ট পরিকল্পনা উদ্ভাবন করে।
12 Thus hath said the Lord, Though they be complete, and ever so many, nevertheless shall they be cut down, and it shall be over [with them]: and if even I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.
সদাপ্রভু একথাই বলেন: “যদিও তারা বন্ধুত্ব করেছে ও সংখ্যায় তারা অনেক, তাও তারা ধ্বংস হয়ে মারা যাবে। হে যিহূদা, আমি যদিও তোমাকে দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত করেছিলাম, আমি আর তোমাকে নিগৃহীত করব না।
13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and thy bonds will I tear asunder.
এখন আমি তোমার ঘাড় থেকে তাদের জোয়াল ভেঙে ফেলব ও তোমার শিকল ছিন্ন করব।”
14 But against thee hath the Lord decreed, that no heir of thy name shall be any more: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven and the molten image; I will prepare thy grave [there]; for thou art made vile.
হে নীনবী, তোমার বিষয়ে সদাপ্রভু এক আদেশ দিয়েছেন: “তোমার নাম ধারণ করার জন্য তোমার আর কোনও বংশধর থাকবে না। তোমার দেবতাদের মন্দিরে রাখা প্রতিমা ও মূর্তিগুলি আমি ধ্বংস করে দেব। আমি তোমার কবর প্রস্তুত করব, কারণ তুমি নীচ।”
15 Behold, upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace, Celebrate thy feasts, O Judah, fulfill thy vows; for never more shall the wicked pass again through thee, he is utterly cut off.
দেখো, সেই পর্বতের উপর, তারই পা পড়েছে, যে সুসমাচার প্রচার করে, যে শান্তি ঘোষণা করে! হে যিহূদা, তোমার উৎসবগুলি পালন করো, তোমার প্রতিজ্ঞা পূরণ করো। দুষ্টেরা আর কখনও তোমাকে আক্রমণ করবে না; তারা সম্পূর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস হবে।
