Leviticus 5

1 And if any person sin, because he heareth the voice of adjuration, and he is a witness, since he hath either seen or knoweth something; if he do not tell it, and thus bear his iniquity;

«هرگاه کسی از وقوع جرمی اطلاع داشته باشد ولی در مورد آنچه که دیده یا شنیده در دادگاه شهادت ندهد، مجرم است.

2 Or if there be a person who toucheth any unclean thing, whether it be the carcass of an unclean beast, or the carcass of unclean cattle, or the carcass of an unclean creeping thing, and it escape his recollection; but [he becometh aware that] he is unclean, and hath [thus] incurred guilt;

«هرگاه کسی لاشهٔ حیوان حرام گوشتی را لمس کند، حتی اگر ندانسته این کار را کرده باشد، نجس و مجرم است.

3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man, whatsoever uncleanness of the kind it be by which he can be defiled, and it escape his recollection; but he becometh aware of it, and [that] he hath [thus] incurred guilt;

هرگاه کسی نجاست انسان را لمس کند، حتی اگر ندانسته این کار را کرده باشد، وقتی متوجه شد چه کرده است، مجرم می‌باشد.

4 Or if any person swear, by pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good [to himself], in whatsoever it be that a man pronounceth with an oath, and it escape his recollection; but he becometh aware of it that he hath incurred guilt by any one of these:

«اگر کسی نسنجیده قولی دهد و قسم بخورد که آن را بجا آورد ولی بعد پی ببرد که قول بی‌جایی داده است، مجرم می‌باشد.

5 And it shall be, if he have incurred guilt by any one of these [things, ] that he shall confess that concerning which he hath sinned;

در هر یک از این موارد، شخص باید به گناهش اعتراف کند

6 And he shall bring his trespass-offering unto the Lord for his sin which he hath committed, a female from the flocks, a sheep or a goat, for a sin-offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

و برای قربانی گناه خود یک بره یا بز ماده نزد خداوند بیاورد تا کاهن برایش کفاره کند.

7 And if his means be not sufficient for a sheep, then shall he bring as his offering [for the trespass] which he hath committed, two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, unto the Lord; one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering.

«اگر شخص مجرم تنگدست باشد و نتواند بره‌ای بیاورد، می‌تواند دو قمری یا دو جوجه کبوتر برای کفارهٔ گناه خود به خداوند تقدیم کند، یکی برای قربانی گناه و دیگری برای قربانی سوختنی.

8 And he shall bring them unto the priest, and he shall offer that which is for the sin-offering first, and pinch off its head by the back of its neck, but shall not divide it asunder:

کاهن پرنده‌ای را که برای قربانی گناه آورده شده، بگیرد و سرش را ببرد، ولی طوری که از تنش جدا نشود.

9 And he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin-offering upon the wall of the altar: and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar; it is a sin-offering.

سپس قدری از خون آن را بر پهلوی مذبح بپاشد و بقیه را به پای مذبح بریزد. این، قربانی گناه است.

10 And the second shall he prepare as a burnt-offering, according to the prescribed order; and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath committed, and it shall be forgiven unto him.

پرندهٔ دیگر را به عنوان قربانی سوختنی طبق دستورالعملی که قبلا داده شده است قربانی کند. به این ترتیب کاهن برای گناه او کفاره خواهد کرد و گناه او بخشیده خواهد شد.

11 But if his means be not sufficient for two turtle-doves, or two young pigeons, then shall he bring as his offering for that which he hath sinned, the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin-offering; he shall not put upon it any oil, nor shall he put thereupon any frankincense; for it is a sin-offering.

«اگر او فقیرتر از آنست که بتواند دو قمری یا دو جوجه کبوتر برای کفارهٔ گناه خود قربانی کند، می‌تواند یک کیلو آرد مرغوب بیاورد. ولی نباید آن را با روغن زیتون مخلوط کند یا کندر بر آن بگذارد، زیرا این، قربانی گناه است.

12 And he shall bring it to the priest; and the priest shall take from it his handful, as its memorial, and burn it on the altar, upon the fire-offerings of the Lord: it is a sin-offering.

آرد را پیش کاهن بیاورد تا کاهن مشتی از آن را به عنوان نمونه بردارد و روی مذبح بسوزاند، درست مثل قربانیهایی که بر آتش به خداوند تقدیم می‌شود. این، قربانی گناه اوست.

13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin that he hath committed in one of these, and it shall be forgiven unto him; and it shall belong to the priest, as the meat-offering.

به این ترتیب کاهن برای گناه او در هر یک از این موارد، کفاره خواهد کرد و او بخشیده خواهد شد. در این قربانی نیز مثل هدیهٔ آردی، بقیهٔ آرد به کاهن تعلق می‌گیرد.»

14 And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

خداوند این دستورها را به موسی داد:

15 If any person commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, against the holy things of the Lord: then shall he bring as his trespass-offering unto the Lord a ram without blemish out of the flocks, in value of two shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass-offering.

«هرگاه کسی در دادن هدیه‌ای که در نظر خداوند مقدّس است ناخواسته قصور ورزد، باید یک قوچ سالم و بی‌عیب برای قربانی جبران به خداوند تقدیم نماید. قوچی که برای قربانی جبران اهدا می‌شود ارزش آن باید به مثقال نقره برحسب مثقال عبادتگاه برآورده شود.

16 And that, in which he hath sinned against the holy thing, shall he pay, and shall add its fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest; and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass-offering, and it shall be forgiven unto him.

او باید علاوه بر باز پرداخت هدیه، یک پنجم ارزش آن را نیز به آن افزوده، همه را به کاهن بدهد. کاهن با آن قوچ قربانی جبران، برایش کفاره خواهد کرد و او بخشیده خواهد شد.

17 And if any person sin, and commit any one of the prohibitions of the Lord which ought not to be done; and he know not whether he have incurred guilt, and so bear his iniquity:

«اگر کسی مرتکب گناهی شده، یکی از قوانین خداوند را زیر پا بگذارد، ولی نداند که چنین کاری از او سر زده است، باز مجرم است و باید تاوان گناهش را پس بدهد.

18 Then shall he bring a ram without blemish out of the flocks, of the usual value, for a trespass-offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin of ignorance, wherein he hath erred and knoweth it not, and it shall be forgiven unto him.

او باید برای قربانی جبران یک قوچ سالم و بی‌عیب نزد کاهن بیاورد. قیمت قوچ باید مطابق قیمت تعیین شده باشد. کاهن با این قربانی برای او کفاره کند تا گناهش بخشیده شود.

19 It is a trespass-offering: he hath in trespassing trespassed against the Lord.

این قربانی جبران است برای جرمی که او نسبت به خداوند مرتکب شده است.»
