Leviticus 11
1 And the Lord spoke unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
૧યહોવાહે મૂસા તથા હારુનને કહ્યું,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye may eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
૨“ઇઝરાયલી લોકોને કહે, ‘પૃથ્વી પરનાં સર્વ પશુઓમાંથી જે પશુઓ તમારે ખાવા માટે ઉપયોગમાં લેવા તે આ છે.
3 Whatsoever divideth the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that may ye eat.
૩જે પશુઓની ખરી ફાટવાળી હોય અને જે વાગોળતું હોય તે પશુ તું ખાઈ શકે.
4 But these shall ye not eat, of those that chew the cud, or of those that divide the hoof: the camel; because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
૪તોપણ, કેટલાક પશુઓની માત્ર ખરી ફાટવાળી હોય અથવા જે માત્ર વાગોળતાં હોય તે પશુઓ તમારે ખાવાં જોઈએ નહિ, જેમ કે ઊંટ, કેમ કે તે વાગોળે છે પણ તેની ખરી ફાટેલી નથી. તેથી ઊંટ તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
5 And the cony; because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
૫સાફાન સસલું પણ: કેમ કે તે વાગોળે છે પણ તેની ખરી ફાટેલી નથી, તે પણ તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
6 And the hare; because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
૬અને સસલું: કેમ કે તે વાગોળે છે, પણ તેની ખરી ફાટેલી નથી, તે તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
7 And the swine; because he divideth the hoof, and is cloven-footed, but he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean unto you.
૭અને ડુક્કર: જોકે તેની ખરી ફાટેલી છે, પણ તે વાગોળતું નથી, તેથી તે તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch; they are unclean unto you.
૮તમારે તેઓમાંના કોઈનું માંસ ખાવું નહિ કે તેઓના મૃતદેહનો સ્પર્શ કરવો નહિ. તેઓ તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
9 These may ye eat, of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them may ye eat.
૯જળચરોમાંથી તમે આટલાં ખાઈ શકો: પાણીમાં જે બધાંને પંખ તથા ભિંગડાં હોય તેઓને તમારે ખાવા, પછી તે સમુદ્રોમાંનાં હોય કે નદીઓમાંનાં હોય.
10 But all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of whatever moveth in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, shall be an abomination unto you:
૧૦પણ સમુદ્રોમાંનાં કે નદીઓમાંનાં જે બધાં જળચરો પાણીમાં તરે છે તેમાંના તથા સર્વ જળચરોમાંનાં જે સર્વને પંખ તથા ભિંગડાં હોતા નથી, તેઓ તમને નિષેધાત્મક છે.
11 And an abomination shall they remain unto you; of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcasses ye shall have in abomination.
૧૧કારણ કે તેઓ ઘૃણાપાત્ર છે માટે, તમારે તેઓનું માંસ ખાવું જોઈએ નહિ; તેમના મૃત દેહ પણ ઘૃણાપાત્ર છે.
12 Whatsoever hath not fins and scales in the waters, shall be an abomination unto you.
૧૨પાણીમાંનાં જેઓને પંખ કે ભિંગડાં નથી હોતા તેઓ તમને નિષેધાત્મક છે.
13 And these shall ye have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: The eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey,
૧૩પક્ષીઓમાંથી તમારે આને નિષેધાત્મક ગણવા અને તમારે જે ન ખાવા જોઈએ તે આ છે: ગરુડ, ગીધ,
14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
૧૪સમડી, દરેક પ્રકારના બાજ,
15 Every raven after his kind:
૧૫દરેક પ્રકારના કાગડા,
16 And the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind;
૧૬શાહમૃગ, ચીબરી, સીગલ અને કોઈ પણ પ્રકારનો શકરો.
17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
૧૭ચીબરી, કરઢોક, ઘુવડ,
18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier-eagle,
૧૮રાજહંસ, ઢીંચ, ગીધ,
19 And the stork, the heron after his kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
૧૯બગલો, દરેક પ્રકારના હંસ, લક્કડખોદ તથા વાગોળ એમને પણ તમારે નિષેધાત્મક ગણવા.
20 All flying insects that walk upon four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.
૨૦સર્વ પાંખવાળાં જંતુઓ જેઓ પગ વડે ચાલતા હોય, તેઓ તારે માટે અમંગળ છે.
21 Yet these may ye eat, among all the flying insects that walk on four feet, which have spring-legs above their feet, to leap therewith upon the earth.
૨૧તોપણ પગે ચાલનાર પાંખવાળાં જંતુઓ, જેઓને પગ ઉપરાંત જમીન ઉપર કૂદવાને પગ હોય છે, તેઓમાંથી આ તમે ખાઈ શકો છો.
22 These of them may ye eat: The locust after its kind, and the sol'am after its kind, and the chargol after its kind, and the chagab after its kind.
૨૨અને તમે કોઈ પણ પ્રકારના તીડ, બોડમથો તીડ, તમરી અથવા તીતીઘોડો ખાઈ શકો.
23 But all flying insects, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you;
૨૩પણ સર્વ પાંખવાળાં જંતુઓ જેઓને ચાર પગ હોય તેઓ તમને અમંગળ છે.
24 And through these shall ye be rendered unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcass of them shall be unclean until the evening;
૨૪તેઓના શબને પણ જો કોઈ સ્પર્શ કરે તો તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
25 And whosoever beareth aught of their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
૨૫અને જે કોઈ તેઓના મૃતદેહને ઉપાડી લે તેણે પોતાના વસ્ત્રો ધોઈ નાખવા અને તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
26 Every species of beast, which divideth the hoof and is not cloven-footed nor cheweth the cud, is unclean unto you: every one that toucheth the same shall be unclean.
૨૬જે પશુઓની ખરી ફાટેલી હોય પણ તેના બરાબર બે સરખા ભાગ થતા ન હોય અથવા જે પશુઓ વાગોળતાં ના હોય, તે તમને અશુદ્ધ છે. જે કોઈ તેમનો સ્પર્શ કરે તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
27 And all that walk upon their paws, among all manner of beasts that walk on four feet, are unclean unto you; whosoever toucheth their carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
૨૭ચાર પગવાળાં જાનવરોમાંનું જે જે પંજા વડે ચાલતું હોય તે તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે. જે કોઈ તેઓના મૃતદેહનો સ્પર્શ કરે તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
28 And he that beareth their carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening: unclean shall they be unto you.
૨૮અને જે કોઈ તેમના મૃતદેહને ઉપાડે, તો તેણે પોતાના વસ્ત્રો ધોઈ નાખવાં અને તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય. આ પશુઓ તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
29 And these shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth: The weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after its kind,
૨૯જમીન પર પેટે ચાલનારા પ્રાણીઓમાંથી આ તમારા માટે અશુદ્ધ છે: નોળિયો, ઉંદર, દરેક પ્રકારની ગરોળી,
30 And the hedgehog, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.
૩૦ચંદન ઘો, પાટલા ઘો, ગરોળી, સરડો તથા કાચીંડો.
31 These shall be unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they are dead, shall be unclean until the evening.
૩૧સર્વ પેટે ચાલનારાં સર્પટિયાંઓમાં આટલાં તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે. જે કોઈ તેઓના મૃતદેહનો સ્પર્શ કરે તો તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
32 And every thing upon which any part of them, when they are dead, doth fall, shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, every vessel wherewith any work can be done, must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening, when it shall be clean.
૩૨અને જો તેઓમાંથી કોઈ પણ મરી જાય અને કોઈપણ વસ્તુ ઉપર તેમનું શબ પડે તો તે વસ્તુ અશુદ્ધ ગણાય, તે કોઈ પણ લાકડાની, વસ્ત્રોની, ચામડાની અથવા તાટની બનેલી હોય, કોઈપણ કામમાં વપરાતું વાસણ હોય, તો તેને પાણીમાં નાખવું; તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય. પછી તે શુદ્ધ ગણાશે.
33 And every earthen vessel whereinto any part of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean; and itself shall ye break.
૩૩જો આમાંનું કોઈ પણ સર્પટિયું કોઈપણ માટીનાં વાસણમાં પડે, તો તેમાં જે કંઈ ભરેલું હોય તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય અને તેને તમારે ભાંગી નાંખવું.
34 All kinds of food which may be eaten, on which water cometh, shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk, shall be rendered unclean in every vessel.
૩૪જે કોઈએ ખાવાનાં પદાર્થ પર એવાં માટલામાંથી પાણી રેડ્યું હોય તો તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય. અશુદ્ધ થયેલાં વાસણોમાં કોઈ પણ પીણું હોય તો તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
35 And every thing whereupon any part of their carcass falleth, shall be unclean; an oven, or ranges for pots, shall be broken down, they are unclean; and unclean shall they be unto you.
૩૫જે કોઈ વસ્તુ પર તેઓનો મૃતદેહ પડે તો તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય. તે ભઠ્ઠી કે ખાવા બનાવવાનું વાસણ હોય તો તેને ભાંગી નાખવું. તે અશુદ્ધ છે અને તે તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
36 Nevertheless, a fountain, or pit, receptacles for water, shall be clean; but he that toucheth their carcass shall be unclean.
૩૬જો તેઓ પાણીના ટાંકામાં, ઝરણાંમાં કે જ્યાં પીવાના પાણીનો સંગ્રહ થાય છે તેમાં પડે તો તે પાણી શુદ્ધ ગણાય. પણ જો કોઈ પાણીની અંદરના શબનો સ્પર્શ કરે તો તે અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
37 And if any part of their carcass fall upon any sowing-seed which hath been sown, it shall be clean.
૩૭જો તેઓના શબનો કોઈ ભાગ કોઈપણ વાવવાના બિયારણ પર પડે તો તે બિયારણ શુદ્ધ છે.
38 But if any water be put upon the seed, and any part of their carcass fall thereon, it shall be unclean unto you.
૩૮પણ જો તે બિયારણ પર પાણી છાટેલું હોય અને તેમના શબનો કોઈ ભાગ તેના પર પડે, તો તે તમારે માટે અશુદ્ધ છે.
39 And if any cattle die, which is allowed to you as food: he that toucheth its carcass shall be unclean until the evening.
૩૯જે પશુઓ ખાવાની તમને છૂટ આપવામાં આવી છે એવું પશુ જો મરી જાય, તો તેના મૃતદેહનો જે કોઈ સ્પર્શ કરે તો તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
40 And he that eateth of its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening; he also that beareth its carcass shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening.
૪૦અને જે કોઈ એ મૃતદેહમાંથી તેનું માંસ ખાય તો તે પોતાના વસ્ત્રોને ધોઈ નાખે અને તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય. અને જે કોઈ તેના મૃતદેહને ઊંચકે તો તે પોતાના વસ્ત્રો ધોઈ નાખે અને તે સાંજ સુધી અશુદ્ધ ગણાય.
41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth is an abomination, it shall not be eaten.
૪૧જમીન પર પેટે ચાલતાં તમામ સર્પટિયાં નિષેધાત્મક છે; તે ખાવાં નહિ.
42 Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon four feet, down to whatsoever hath many feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, shall ye not eat; for they are an abomination.
૪૨સર્વ પેટે ચાલનારાં અને ચાર પગે ચાલનારાં અથવા વધારે પગોવાળાં, જમીન પર પેટે ચાલનારાં સર્વ પણ તમારે ખાવા નહિ, કારણ કે તે નિષેધાત્મક છે.
43 Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth; and ye shall not make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby.
૪૩કોઈ પણ પેટે ચાલનારાં સર્પટિયાંઓથી તમે પોતાને અશુદ્ધ ન કરો; તેઓથી પોતાને અશુદ્ધ કરીને અભડાઓ નહિ.
44 For I am the Lord your God; ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
૪૪કેમ કે હું યહોવાહ તમારો ઈશ્વર છું. એ માટે તમે પોતાને શુદ્ધ કરો અને તમે પવિત્ર થાઓ કેમ કે હું પવિત્ર છું. જમીન પર પેટે ચાલનારાં કોઈ પણ સર્પટિયાંથી પોતાને અશુદ્ધ ન કરો.
45 For I am the Lord that have brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God; ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
૪૫કેમ કે હું યહોવાહ છું, તમારો ઈશ્વર થવા માટે જે તમને મિસર દેશમાંથી બહાર કાઢી લાવ્યો. માટે તમે પવિત્ર થાઓ, કેમ કે હું પવિત્ર છું.
46 This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
૪૬આ પશુઓ, પક્ષીઓ, દરેક જીવજંતુઓ જે પાણીમાં તરે છે અને દરેક જે પેટે ચાલે છે, તેઓ સંબંધી આ નિયમ છે.
47 To distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
૪૭એ માટે કે શુદ્ધ તથા અશુદ્ધની વચ્ચે અને ખાવાનાં તથા નહિ ખાવાનાં વચ્ચે ભેદ રખાય.’”
