Lamentations 5
1 Remember, O Lord, what hath occurred to us, look down, and behold our disgrace.
Lembra-te, SENHOR, do que tem nos acontecido; presta atenção e olha nossa humilhação.
2 Our inheritance is turned over to strangers, our houses to aliens.
Nossa herança passou a ser de estrangeiros, nossas casas de forasteiros.
3 Orphans are we become, and [we are] without a father, our mothers are like widows.
Órfãos somos sem pai, nossas mães são como viúvas.
4 Our water have we drunk for money: our wood cometh to us for a purchase price.
Bebemos nossa água por dinheiro; nossa lenha temos que pagar.
5 Up to our necks are we pursued: we are fatigued, and no rest is allowed us.
Perseguição sofremos sobre nossos pescoços; estamos cansados, mas não temos descanso.
6 To Egypt do we stretch out our hand, to Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
Nós nos rendemos aos egípcios e aos assírios para nos saciarmos de pão.
7 Our fathers have sinned, and are no more; but we have indeed to bear their iniquities.
Nossos pais pecaram, e não existem mais; porém nós levamos seus castigos.
8 Servants rule over us: no one delivereth us out of their hand.
Servos passaram a nos dominar; ninguém há que [nos] livre de suas mãos.
9 At the peril of our life must we bring home our bread, because of the sword of the wilderness.
Com risco de vida trazemos nosso pão, por causa da espada do deserto.
10 Our skin gloweth like an oven, because of the heat of famine.
Nossa pele se tornou negra como um forno, por causa do ardor da fome.
11 Women have they ravished in Zion, virgins, in the cities of Judah.
Abusaram das mulheres em Sião, das virgens nas cidades de Judá.
12 Princes were hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honored.
Os príncipes foram enforcados por sua mãos; não respeitaram as faces dos velhos.
13 Young men they bore to the mill, and boys stumbled under the wood.
Levaram os rapazes para moer, e os moços caíram debaixo da lenha [que carregavam].
14 The elders have ceased from the gate, young men, from their singing.
Os anciãos deixaram de [se sentarem] junto as portas, os rapazes de suas canções.
15 Ceased hath the joy of our heart: our dance is changed into mourning.
Acabou a alegria de nosso coração; nossa dança se tornou em luto.
16 Fallen is the crown of our head: woe to us, for we have sinned.
Caiu a coroa de nossa cabeça; ai agora de nós, porque pecamos.
17 Because of this is our heart made sick; for these things are our eyes dimmed;
Por isso nosso coração ficou fraco, por isso nossos olhos escureceram;
18 Because of the mount of Zion which is wasted, foxes walk about on it.
Por causa do monte de Sião, que está desolado; raposas andam nele.
19 O thou, Lord, wilt truly abide for ever, thy throne existeth throughout all generations.
Tu, SENHOR, permanecerás para sempre; [e] teu trono de geração após geração.
20 Wherefore wilt thou forget us for ever! wilt thou forsake us for so long a time?
Por que te esquecerias de nós para sempre e nos abandonarias por tanto tempo?
21 Cause us to return, O Lord, unto thee, and we will return: renew our days as of old.
Converte-nos, SENHOR, a ti, e seremos convertidos; renova o nossos dias como antes;
22 For wouldst thou entirely reject us, be wroth with us to the uttermost?
A não ser que tenhas nos rejeitado totalmente, e estejas enfurecido contra nós ao extremo.
