< Lamentations 3 >
1 I am the man who hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
I [am] the man [who] he has seen affliction by [the] rod of fury his.
2 Me hath he driven out, and led into darkness, but not into light.
Me he has driven and he has made walk darkness and not light.
3 Surely against me doth he turn again and again his hand all the day.
Surely on me he returned he turned hand his all the day.
4 He hath caused my flesh and my skin to wear out, he hath broken my bones.
He has made to waste away flesh my and skin my he has broken bones my.
5 He hath built around me, and encompassed me with poison and hardship.
He has built on me and he has surrounded [me] poison and hardship.
6 In dark places hath he set me to dwell, like the dead of olden times.
In dark places he has caused to dwell me like dead people of antiquity.
7 He hath placed a fence round about me, that I cannot get out; he hath made heavy my chain.
He has walled up behind me and not I will go out he has made heavy bronze fetter[s] my.
8 Also when I cry aloud and make entreaty, he shutteth out my prayer.
Also if I will cry out and I may cry for help he has shut out prayer my.
9 He hath fenced up my ways with hewn stone, my paths hath he made crooked.
He has walled up ways my with hewn [stone] paths my he has made crooked.
10 A bear lying in wait is he to me, a lion in secret places.
[is] a bear Lying in wait he to me (a lion *Q(K)*) in hiding places.
11 On my ways hath he placed thorns, and torn me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
Ways my he has caused to deviate and he has torn in pieces me he has made me desolate.
12 He hath bent his bow, and placed me as a mark for the arrow.
He has bent (bow his *L(abh)*) and he has set up me like target for arrow.
13 He hath caused to enter into my reins the children of his quiver.
He has brought in kidneys my [the] sons of quiver his.
14 I am become a laughing-stock to all my people, their [jeering] song all the day.
I have become a laughingstock to all people my taunt song their all the day.
15 He hath sated me with bitter things, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
He has surfeited me with bitter things he has made drink me wormwood.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel-stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
And he has broken with gravel teeth my he has made cower me in ash[es].
17 And my soul hath given up all thoughts of peace: I forget happiness.
And it has excluded from peace self my I have forgotten good.
18 And I said, Lost is my strength, my expectation also from the Lord.
And I said it has perished endurance my and hope my from Yahweh.
19 Remembering my affliction and [the cause of] my complaint, wormwood and poison.
Remember affliction my and homelessness my wormwood and poison.
20 Remembering [this] continually my soul is bowed down deeply within me.
Continually it remembers (so it may bow down *Q(K)*) on me self my.
21 [Yet] this answer will I give to my heart: therefore will I wait [in confidence].
This I bring back to heart my there-fore I will wait.
22 It is through the Lord's kindness that we are not consumed, because his mercies have no end;
[the] covenant loyalti of Yahweh for not we have met our end for not they come to an end compassion his.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
[they are] new To the mornings [is] great faithfulness your.
24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul, therefore will I wait for him.
[is] portion My Yahweh it has said self my there-fore I will wait for him.
25 The Lord is good unto those that hope in him, to the soul that seeketh him.
[is] good Yahweh (to [those who] wait for him *Q(K)*) to anyone [who] it will seek him.
26 It is good that one should wait and this in silence for the salvation of the Lord.
[is] good And waiting and silently for [the] salvation of Yahweh.
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth;
[is] good For man that he will bear a yoke in youth his.
28 That he sit in solitude and be silent; because He hath laid it upon him;
Let him sit alone and let him be silent for he has laid [it] on him.
29 That he put his mouth in the dust; perhaps there still is hope;
Let him put in the dust mouth his perhaps there [is] hope.
30 That he offer his cheek to him that smiteth him; that he be satisfied with reproach.
Let him give to [the] [one who] strikes him a cheek let him be sated with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever;
For not he will reject for ever [the] Lord.
32 But though he have caused grief, yet will he have mercy according to the abundance of his kindnesses.
That except he has caused grief and he will have compassion according to [the] greatness of (covenant loyalti his. *Q(K)*)
33 For he doth not afflict of his own will, and aggrieve the children of men.
For not he has afflicted from heart his and he has grieved ([the] children of *L(abh)*) a man.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
To crush under feet his all [the] prisoners of [the] land.
35 To pervert the justice [due to man] before the face of the Most High.
To turn aside [the] justice of a man before [the] presence of [the] Most High.
36 To subvert a man in his contest—should the Lord not see this?
To subvert anyone in case at law his [the] Lord not he has seen.
37 Who is he that saith aught, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord hath not ordained it?
Who? this has he spoken and it was [the] Lord not he commanded [it].
38 Do not out of the mouth of the Most High come both the evil things and the good?
From [the] mouth of [the] Most High not does it goes forth? the troubles and the good.
39 Wherefore should a living man complain? let every man complain because of his sins.
Why? will he complain a person living a man on (sins his. *Q(K)*)
40 Let us search through and investigate our ways, and let us return to the Lord.
Let us examine ways our and let us examine and let us return to Yahweh.
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
Let us lift up heart our to palms to God in the heavens.
42 We have indeed transgressed and rebelled: thou hast truly not pardoned.
We we have transgressed and we have rebelled you not you have forgiven.
43 Thou hast covered [us] with thy anger, and made pursuit after us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
You have covered yourself with anger and you have pursued us you have killed not you have spared.
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that no prayer should pass through.
You have covered with cloud yourself from passing through prayer of.
45 As something loathsome and rejected hast thou rendered us in the midst of the people.
Scouring and refuse you have made us in [the] midst of the peoples.
46 Wide have all our enemies opened against us their mouth.
They have opened on us mouth their all enemies our.
47 Terror and a snare are come upon us, [with] desolation and breaches.
Terror and a pit it has happened to us devastation and brokenness.
48 With streams of water runneth my eye down, because of the breach of the daughter of my people.
Streams of water it goes down eye my on [the] brokenness of [the] daughter of people my.
49 My eye trickleth down, and resteth not, without any intermission,
Eye my it has poured itself and not it will cease from not stop.
50 Till the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
Until he will look down and he will see Yahweh from heaven.
51 My eye affecteth my soul because of all the daughters of my city.
Eye my it has dealt severely to self my from all [the] daughters of city my.
52 Those who are my enemies, without a cause, have chased me about like a bird.
Certainly they hunted me like bird enemies my without cause.
53 They have shut up in the dungeon my life, and have cast stones upon me.
They destroyed in the pit life my and they threw down a stone on me.
54 Waters streamed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
They overflowed waters over head my I said I have been cut off.
55 I called on thy name, O Lord, out of the dungeon of the lowest depth.
I called name your O Yahweh from a pit of lowest parts.
56 Thou didst hear my voice: hide not thy ear to give me enlargement at my cry.
Voice my you heard may not you hide ear your to relief my to cry for help my.
57 Thou wast ever near on the day that I called on thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
You drew near on [the] day [when] I called on you you said may not you fear.
58 Thou didst plead, O Lord, the causes of my soul: thou didst [before this] redeem my life.
You have conducted O Lord [the] cases of self my you have redeemed life my.
59 Thou hast [now] seen, O Lord, the wrong I suffer: judge thou my cause.
You have seen O Yahweh oppression my judge! judgment my.
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their plans against me.
You have seen all vengeance their all plans their to me.
61 Thou hast heard their reviling, O Lord, all their plans against me,
You have heard reproach their O Yahweh all plans their on me.
62 The speeches of these that rise up against me, and their device against me all the day.
[the] lips of [those who] rise against Me and muttering their on me all the day.
63 Oh look upon their sitting down, and their rising up: I am their [jeering] song.
Sitting their and rising their look at! I [am] mocking song their.
64 Render unto them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.
You will repay to them recompense O Yahweh according to [the] work of hands their.
65 Give them confusion of heart, thy curse he upon them.
You will give to them shamelessness of heart curse your [may it belong] to them.
66 Pursue them in anger and destroy from under the heavens of the Lord.
You will pursue [them] in anger and you will destroy them from under [the] heavens of Yahweh.
