Judges 8
1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, What is this thing that thou hast done unto us, not to call for us, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they quarrelled with him vehemently.
एफ्राइमका मानिसहरूले गिदोनलाई भने, “तपाईंले हामीलाई यो के गर्नुभयो? तपाईं मिद्दानीहरूका विरुद्धमा युद्ध गर्न जानुहुँदा तपाईंले हामीलाई बोलाउनुभएन ।” तब उनीहरूले तिनीसँग ठुलो बहस भयो ।
2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abi'ezer?
तिनले उनीहरूलाई भने, “तिमीहरूले गरेका तुलनामा मैले के नै गरेको छु र? के अबीएजेरको सबै दाखको फसलभन्दा एफ्राइमको बोटमा टिप्न छुटेका दाख नै असल छैनन् र?
3 Into your hand God delivered the princes of Midian, 'Oreb and Zeeb: and what have I been able to do in comparison with you? Then was their anger abated from him, when he had spoken this speech.
परमेश्वरले तिमीहरूलाई मिद्दानी शासकहरू, ओरेब र जएबमाथि विजय दिनुभएको छ! तिमीहरूका तुलनामा मैले के प्राप्त गरेको छु र?” जब तिनले यसो भने तब तिनीप्रतिको उनीहरूको रिस मर्यो ।
4 And Gid'on came to the Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, and in pursuit.
गिदोन यर्दनमा आए, र तिनी र तिनीसँग भएका तिन सय जना मानिसले त्यो तरे । तिनीहरू थाकेका थिए, तापनि तिनीहरूले खेद्ने काम गरिरहे ।
5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, a few loaves of bread unto the people that are in my train; for they are faint, and I am pursuing after Zebach and Zalmunna,' the kings of Midian.
तिनले सुक्कोतका मानिसहरूलाई भने, “कृपया मेरो पछि आएका मानिसहरूलाई केही रोटी दिनुहोस्, किनकि तिनीहरू थाकेका छन्, र मचाहिं मिद्दानी राजा जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई खेद्दैछु ।”
6 And the princes of Succoth said, Is the sole of the foot of Zebach and Zalmunna' now already in thy hand, that we should give unto thy army bread?
तब अधिकारीहरूले भने, “के जेबह र सल्मुन्ना अब तिम्रा हातमा छन् र? हामीले तिम्रो सेनालाई रोटी किन दिनुपर्यो?”
7 And Gid'on said, Therefore when the Lord hath delivered Zebach and Zalmunna' into my hand, then will I thresh your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
गिदोनले भने, “परमप्रभुले हामीलाई जेबह र सल्मुन्नामाथि विजय दिनुभएपछि, मरुभूमिका काँढाहरू र घोच्ने झाडीले म तिमीहरूका छाला काढ्नेछु ।”
8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spoke unto them in the same manner: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered.
त्यहाँबाट तिनी पनीएलमा गए र त्यहाँका मानिसहरूसँग पनि त्यही कुरा भने, तर पनीएलका मानिसहरूले तिनलाई सुक्कोतका मानिसहरूले झैं बोलेर जवाफ दिए ।
9 And he said also unto the men of Penuel thus, When I return again in peace, I will break down this tower.
तिनले पनीएलका मानिसहरूसँग पनि बोले र यसो भने, “जब म फेरि सकुशल आउनेछु, तब म यो किल्ला भत्काइदिनेछु ।”
10 Now Zebach and Zalmunna' were in Karkor, and their camps with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that had been left of all the camp of the children of the east; but those who had fallen were one hundred and twenty thousand men that drew the sword.
यति बेला जेबह र सल्मुन्ना आफ्ना पन्ध्र हजार मानिससहित कर्कोरमा थिए । पूर्वका मानिसहरूका सबै सेनाहरूमा यति नै बाँकी थिए, कनभने त्यहाँ तरवार चलाउने एक लाख बिस हजार मानिसहरू मारिएका थिए ।
11 And Gid'on went up by the way of those that dwelt in tents, to the east of Nobach and Yogbehah, and smote the camp; but the camp thought itself secure.
नोबह र योगबहाभन्दा उता पालमा बस्नेहरूका हिंड्ने बाटोमा गिदोन अगि बढे । तिनले शत्रुको सेनालाई परास्त गरे, किनकि आक्रमण हुन्छ भनेर तिनीहरूले सोचेका थिएनन् ।
12 And Zebach and Zalmunna' fled; but he pursued after them, and captured the two kings of Midian, Zebach and Zalmunna', and all the camp he discomfited.
जेबह र सल्मुन्ना भागे, र जब गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई खेदे, तब तिनले मिद्दानका ती दुई जना राजा जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई समाते, र तिनीहरूका जम्मै सेनाहरूमा त्रास ल्याए ।
13 And Gid'on the son of Joash returned from the battle before the rising of the sun,
योआशका छोरा गिदोन युद्धबाट फर्केर हेरेस भन्ज्याङ्को बाटो गए ।
14 And he caught a young man of the people of Succoth, and inquired of him: and he wrote down for him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, seventy and seven men.
तिनले सुक्कोतका एक जना जवान मानिसलाई समाए र उसलाई सोधे । त्यस जवान मानिसले सुक्कोतका सतहत्तर जना अधिकारी र एल्डरका नाउँ लेखिदियो ।
15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold here are Zebach and Zalmunna', with whom ye derided me, saying, Is the sole of the foot of Zebach and Zalmunna' now already in thy hand, that we should give unto thy weary men bread?
गिदोन सुक्कोतका मानिसहरूकहाँ आए र भने “जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई हेर, जसको बारेमा तिमीहरूले मेरो खिल्ली गर्यौ र यसो भन्यौ, ‘के तिमीले जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई परास्त गरिसकेका छौ र? हामीले तिम्रा सेनालाई रोटी दिनुपर्छ भन्ने कुरा हामीलाई थाहा छैन ।’”
16 And he took the elders of the city, and the thorns of the wilderness and briers, and chastised with them the men of Succoth.
गिदोनले सहरका एल्डरहरूलाई नियन्त्रणमा लिए, र तिनले सुक्कोतका मानिसहरूलाई मरुभूमिका काँढाहरू र घोच्ने झाडीले दण्ड दिए ।
17 And the tower of Penuel he beat down, and slew the men of the city.
तब तिनले पनीएलको किल्ला भत्काइदिए र त्यस सहरका मानिसहरूलाई मारे ।
18 And he said unto Zebach and Zalmunna', What kind of men were those whom ye slew at Tabor! And they answered, As thou art, so were they; one was in form like that of the children of a king.
तब गिदोनले जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई भने, “तिमीहरूले तबोरमा कस्ता मानिसहरूलाई मार्यौ?” तिनीहरूले जवाफ दिए, “तिनीहरू तपाईंजस्तै थिए । तिनीहरूमध्ये हरेक व्यक्ति राजाका छोराजस्ता देखिन्थे ।”
19 And he said, They were my brothers, the sons of my mother; as the Lord liveth, if ye had spared them alive, I would not slay you.
गिदोनले भने, “तिनीहरू मेरा दाजु-भाइ, मेरी आमाका छोराहरू थिए । परमप्रभु जीवित हुनुभएको हुनाले, तिमीहरूले तिनीहरूलाई जीवितै राखेका भए, म तिमीहरूलाई मार्ने थिइनँ ।”
20 And he said unto Yether his first-born, Rise up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword; for he was afraid, because he was yet a youth.
तिनले आफ्नो जेठो छोरो येतेरलाई भने, “उठ् र उनीहरूलाई मार् ।” तर त्यो जवान मानिसले आफ्नो तरवार झिकेन किनकि ऊ डरायो, किनभने ऊ अझैसम्म एउटा सानो केटो नै थियो ।”
21 Then said Zebach and Zalmunna', Rise thou, and fall upon us; for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gid'on arose, and slew Zebach and Zalmunna'; and he took away the crescent ornaments that were on the necks of their camels.
त्यसपछि जेबह र सल्मुन्नाले भने, “तपाईं नै उठेर हामीलाई मार्नुहोस्! किनभने तपाईंसँग पुरुषको बल छ ।” गिदोन उठे र जेबह र सल्मुन्नालाई मारे । तिनले उनीहरूका ऊँटका घाँटीमा भएका चन्द्रहारका गहनाहरू पनि लगे ।
22 And the men of Israel said unto Gid'on, Rule thou over us, both thou and thy son, and thy son's son also; for thou hast delivered us out of the hand of Midian.
त्यसपछि इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले गिदोनलाई भने, “तपाईं, तपाईंका छोरा, तपाईंका नातिले हामीमाथि राज्य गरून्, किनभने तपाईंले हामीलाई मिद्दानीका हातबाट बचाउनुभएको छ ।”
23 And Gid'on said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the Lord shall rule over you.
गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “म तिमीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्नेछैनँ, न त मेरो छोराले राज्य गर्नेछ । परमप्रभुले नै तिमीहरूमाथि राज्य गर्नुहुनेछ ।”
24 And Gid'on said unto them, I would ask one request of you, that ye should give me every man the earring of his booty; for they had had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.
गिदोनले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “म तिमीहरूसँग एउटा अनुरोध गर्न चाहन्छु: तिमीहरू हरेकले आफ्नो लुटको सामानबाट मलाई कुण्डलहरू देओ ।” (मिद्दानीहरूले सुनका कुण्डल लगाउँथे, किनभने तिनीहरू इश्माएलीहरू थिए ।)
25 And they answered, We will willingly give. And they spread out a garment, and they cast therein every man the earring of his booty.
तिनीहरूले जवाफ दिए, “ती तपाईंलाई दिन हामी खुशी छौं ।” तिनीहरूले एउटा लुगा ओछ्याए र हरेक मानिसले आफ्नो लुटको सामनाबाट कुण्डलचाहिँ त्यसमा राखे ।
26 And the weight of the golden earrings that he had requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; besides the crescent ornaments, and ear-drops, and purple garments that were on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that were about their camels' necks.
उनले अनुरोध गरेका सुनका कुण्डलको तौल १,७०० शेकेल सुन भयो । यी सुन ती चन्द्रहारका गहनाहरू, अरू गहनाहरू, मिद्दानी राजाहरूले लगाएका बैजनी वस्त्र, र तिनीहरूका ऊँटका घाँटीमा भएका सिक्रीहरूभन्दा बाहेकका थिए ।
27 And Gid'on made thereof an ephod, and set it up in his city, in 'Ophrah: and all Israel went astray after it thither; and it became a snare unto Gid'on, and to his house.
गिदोनले ती कुण्डलहरूबाट एउटा एपोद बनाए र आफ्नो सहर ओप्रामा राखे, र सबै इस्राएलले त्यसको पुजा गरेर वेश्याजस्तै भए । गिदोन र उनका घरमा भएकाहरूका निम्ति यो एउटा पासो हुन गयो ।
28 And Midian was humbled before the children of Israel, so that they lifted not up their head any more. And the country was quiet forty years in the days of Gid'on.
यसरी मिद्दानीहरू इस्राएलका मानिसहरूका अधीनमा रहे र तिनीहरूले आफ्नो शिर फेरि कहिल्यै उठाएनन् । यसरी गिदोनको समयमा देशमा चालिस वर्षसम्म शान्ति भयो ।
29 And Yerubba'al the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.
योआशका छोरा, यरूब-बाल गए र आफ्नै घरमा बसे ।
30 And Gid'on had seventy sons begotten of his body; for he had many wives.
गिदोनको वंशमा सत्तरी छोराहरू थिए, किनकि तिनका धेरै जना पत्नीहरू थिए ।
31 And his concubine that was in Shechem, she also bore him a son, and he gave him the name, Abimelech.
शकेमामा बस्ने तिनकी उपपत्नीले पनि तिनको निम्ति एउटा छोरो जन्माइन्, र गिदोनले उसको नाउँ अबीमेलेक राखे ।
32 And Gid'on the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in 'Ophrah of the Abi'ezrites.
योआशका छोरा गिदोन धेरै वृद्ध अवस्थामा मरे र तिनलाई आफ्नै बुबा योआशको चिहानमा अबीएजेरीहरूको ओप्रामा गाडियो ।
33 And it came to pass, when Gid'on was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went astray after the Be'alim, and made themselves Ba'al-berith for a god.
गिदोनको मृत्यु हुनेबित्तिकै यस्तो भयो, इस्राएलका मानिसहरू फेरि फर्के र बाल देवताहरूको पुजा गरेर वेश्याजस्ता भए । तिनीहरूले बाल-बरीतलाई आफ्नो देवता बनाए ।
34 And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God, who delivered them out of the hand of all their enemies on every side.
इस्राएलका मानिसहरूले परमप्रभु आफ्ना परमेश्वरलाई सम्मान गर्न सम्झेनन्, जसले तिनीहरूलाई आफ्ना वरिपरि भएका सबै शत्रुबाट बचाउनुभएको थियो ।
35 Neither showed they kindness to the house of Yerubba'al, namely, Gid'on, in accordance with all the good which he had done unto Israel.
यरूब-बालले (अर्थात् गिदोनले) इस्राएलमा तिनीहरूका निम्ति गरेका सबै असल कुराहरूका खातिर तिनीहरूले गिदोनको घरानालाई गरेका आफ्ना प्रतिज्ञाहरूलाई पुरा गरेनन् ।
