Judges 2
1 And a messenger of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, And he said, I caused you to go up out of Egypt, and I brought you unto the land which I had sworn unto your fathers; and I said, I will not break my covenant with you for ever.
Entonces el Ángel de Yavé subió de Gilgal a Bohim y dijo: Yo los saqué de Egipto, los introduje en la tierra que juré a sus antepasados y dije: Nunca quebrantaré mi Pacto con ustedes.
2 But ye for your part shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; their altars shall ye throw down; but ye have not obeyed my voice: what is this ye have done?
Pero ustedes no harán pacto con los habitantes de esta tierra y derribarán sus altares. Sin embargo, no me obedecieron. ¿Qué es esto que hicieron?
3 And I also have said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be evil neighbors to you, and their gods shall become a snare unto you.
Por lo cual dije: No los echaré de delante de ustedes, pero ellos serán espinas en su costado, y sus divinidades serán una trampa para ustedes.
4 And it came to pass, when the messenger of the Lord spoke these words unto all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
Cuando el Ángel de Yavé habló estas Palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo alzó su voz y lloró.
5 And they called the name of that place, Bochim; and they sacrificed there unto the Lord.
Llamaron aquel lugar Bohim. Allí ofrecieron sacrificios a Yavé.
6 And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to take possession of the land.
Cuando Josué despidió al pueblo, cada uno de los hijos de Israel salió a poseer su heredad.
7 And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that lived many days after Joshua, who had seen all the great deeds of the Lord, which he had done for Israel.
El pueblo sirvió a Yavé todos los días de Josué y todos los días de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué, quienes vieron todas las grandes obras de Yavé cumplidas a favor de Israel.
8 Then died Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, being one hundred and ten years old.
Josué, hijo de Nun, esclavo de Yavé, murió cuando tenía 110 años.
9 And they buried him on the border of his inheritance in Timnath-cheres, in the mountain of Ephraim, on the north side of mount Ga'ash.
Lo sepultaron en el territorio de su heredad en Timnat-sera, en la región montañosa de Efraín, al norte de la montaña Gaas.
10 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, who knew not the Lord, and likewise not the deeds which he had done for Israel.
Toda aquella generación también fue reunida a sus antepasados. Pero después de ellos se levantó otra generación que no conocía a Yavé, ni las obras que Él hizo a favor de Israel.
11 And the children of Israel did the evil in the eyes of the Lord, and served the Be'alim:
Entonces los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo delante de Yavé, y sirvieron a los baales.
12 And they forsook the Lord the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and they went after other gods, of the gods of the nations that were round about them, and they bowed themselves unto them, and incensed the Lord.
Abandonaron a Yavé, el ʼElohim de sus antepasados, Quien los sacó de la tierra de Egipto. Siguieron a otras divinidades de los pueblos que estaban alrededor de ellos y se postraron ante ellas. De esta manera provocaron a ira a Yavé.
13 And they forsook the Lord, and served Baal and 'Ashtaroth.
Abandonaron a Yavé y sirvieron a baal y a Astarot.
14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of spoilers who spoiled them, and he sold them into the hand of their enemies round about, and they were not able any longer to stand before their enemies.
Por eso la ira de Yavé se encendió contra Israel y los entregó en manos de salteadores que los despojaron. Los vendió en manos de sus enemigos de alrededor, de tal modo que ya no pudieron hacer frente a sus enemigos.
15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had spoken, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
Por dondequiera que salían, la mano de Yavé estaba contra ellos para mal, como Yavé habló y les juró. De manera que estaban severamente afligidos.
16 And the Lord raised up judges, and they delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
Entonces Yavé levantó jueces que los libraban de las manos de sus saqueadores.
17 But also unto their judges they did not hearken; but they went astray after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers had walked in, to obey the commandments of the Lord; they did not so.
Pero tampoco escucharon a sus jueces. Se prostituyeron tras otras divinidades y se postraban ante ellas. Pronto se desviaron del camino en el cual anduvieron sus antepasados cuando obedecían los Mandamientos de Yavé. Éstos no lo hicieron así.
18 And when the Lord raised them up judges, then was the Lord with the judge, and he delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord bethought himself because of their groaning by reason of those that oppressed them and ill-treated them.
Cuando Yavé les levantaba jueces, Él estaba con el juez y los libraba de mano de sus enemigos todos los días de aquel juez, porque Yavé era movido a compasión por sus gemidos a causa de los que los oprimían y afligían.
19 And it came to pass, when the judge died, that they returned, and became more corrupt than their fathers, in going after other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them: they omitted nothing from their doings, and from their stubborn way.
Pero acontecía que cuando moría aquel juez, ellos se volvían atrás y actuaban con más corrupción que sus antepasados, pues seguían a otros ʼelohim para servirles y postrarse ante ellos. No abandonaban sus prácticas ni su obstinado camino.
20 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel; and he said, For the cause that this people have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice:
Entonces la ira de Yavé se encendió contra Israel y dijo: Por cuanto esta nación transgredió mi Pacto que ordené a sus antepasados y no obedece mi voz,
21 So will I also for my part not drive out henceforth any man from before them out of the nations which Joshua left when he died;
Yo tampoco volveré a echar de delante de ellos algún hombre de aquellas naciones que Josué dejó cuando murió,
22 In order to prove through them the Israelites, whether they will keep the way of the Lord, to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.
a fin de probar a Israel por medio de ellas, si guardarían o no mis caminos, para andar en ellos como los guardaron sus antepasados.
23 And thus did the Lord leave these nations, so as not to drive them out speedily; and he delivered them not into the hand of Joshua.
Por esto Yavé dejó aquellas naciones. No las echó de una vez y no las entregó en mano de Josué.
