Judges 17
1 And there was a man of the mountain of Ephraim, whose name was Michayhu.
੧ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੀ।
2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spokest of also in my ears, —behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be my son unto the Lord.
੨ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਹ ਗਿਆਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੌ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਕੇ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਲਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਵੇਖ ਉਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਲੈ ਲਈ ਸੀ।” ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇਵੇ।”
3 And he restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand, for my son, to make a graven and molten image; and now I will give it back unto thee.
੩ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੌ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਣ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਘੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਢਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੂਰਤ ਬਣਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹਾਂ।”
4 Yet he gave the money back unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the silversmith, who made thereof a graven and molten image; and it was in the house of Micah.
੪ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਰੁਪਏ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਸੌ ਸਿੱਕੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਢਾਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਘੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਢਾਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੂਰਤ ਬਣਾਈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹੀ।
5 And the man Micah had a house of god, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.
੫ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਮੰਦਰ ਸੀ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਏਫ਼ੋਦ ਅਤੇ ਤਿਰਾਫ਼ੀਮ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਘਰੇਲੂ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ।
6 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did what seemed right in his own eyes.
੬ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਠੀਕ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਉਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
7 And there was a young man out of Beth-lechem-judah of the family of Judah, but he was a Levite, and sojourned there.
੭ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਜੁਆਨ ਲੇਵੀ, ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਗੋਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
8 And the man departed from the city, from Beth-lechem-judah, to sojourn where he could find [a place]; and he came to the mountain of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he was pursuing his journey.
੮ਇਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰਹੇ। ਉਹ ਚਲਦੇ-ਚਲਦੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਗਿਆ।
9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite from Beth-lechem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find [a place].
੯ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਕਿੱਥੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ?” ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਮਿਲੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰਹਾਂ।”
10 And Micah said unto him, Remain with me, and become unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver for the year, and suitable apparel, and thy victuals. And the Levite went in.
੧੦ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਬਣ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਦਸ ਸਿੱਕੇ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਜੋੜੀ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਵੀ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।”
11 And the Levite consented to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.
੧੧ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੇਵੀ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੁਆਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਰਿਹਾ।
12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and remained in the house of Micah.
੧੨ਤਾਂ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਲੇਵੀ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਜੁਆਨ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗਾ।
13 Then said Micah, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have obtained a Levite for priest.
੧੩ਤਦ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੁਰੋਹਿਤ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।”
