Judges 17

1 And there was a man of the mountain of Ephraim, whose name was Michayhu.

Or il y avait un homme de la montagne d'Ephraïm, duquel le nom était Mica;

2 And he said unto his mother, The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from thee, about which thou cursedst, and spokest of also in my ears, —behold, the silver is with me; I took it. And his mother said, Blessed be my son unto the Lord.

Qui dit à sa mère: Les onze cents [pièces] d'argent qui te furent prises, pour lesquelles tu fis des imprécations, en ma présence, voici, j'ai cet argent-là par-devers moi; je l'avais pris. Alors sa mère dit: Béni soit mon fils par l'Eternel.

3 And he restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the Lord from my hand, for my son, to make a graven and molten image; and now I will give it back unto thee.

Et quand il rendit à sa mère les onze cents [pièces] d'argent, sa mère dit: J'avais entièrement dédié de ma main cet argent à l'Eternel pour mon fils, afin d'en faire une image taillée, et une de fonte, ainsi je te le rendrai maintenant.

4 Yet he gave the money back unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred shekels of silver, and gave them to the silversmith, who made thereof a graven and molten image; and it was in the house of Micah.

Après donc qu'il eut rendu cet argent à sa mère, elle en prit deux cents [pièces], et les donna au fondeur, qui en fit une image taillée, et une de fonte; et elles furent dans la maison de Mica.

5 And the man Micah had a house of god, and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest.

Ainsi cet homme, [savoir] Mica, eut une maison de dieux, et fit un Ephod et des Théraphims, et consacra l'un de ses fils, qui lui servit de Sacrificateur.

6 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did what seemed right in his own eyes.

En ce temps-là il n'y avait point de Roi en Israël; chacun faisait ce qui lui semblait être droit.

7 And there was a young man out of Beth-lechem-judah of the family of Judah, but he was a Levite, and sojourned there.

Or il y eut un jeune homme de Bethléhem de Juda, [ville] de la famille de Juda, qui était Lévite, et qui avait fait là son séjour;

8 And the man departed from the city, from Beth-lechem-judah, to sojourn where he could find [a place]; and he came to the mountain of Ephraim to the house of Micah, as he was pursuing his journey.

Lequel partit de cette ville-là, [savoir] de Bethléhem de Juda, pour aller demeurer où il trouverait [sa commodité], et continuant son chemin, il vint en la montagne d'Ephraïm jusqu'à la maison de Mica.

9 And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him, I am a Levite from Beth-lechem-judah, and I go to sojourn where I may find [a place].

Et Mica lui dit: D'où viens-tu? Le Lévite lui répondit: Je suis de Bethléhem de Juda, et je m'en vais pour demeurer où je trouverai [ma commodité].

10 And Micah said unto him, Remain with me, and become unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver for the year, and suitable apparel, and thy victuals. And the Levite went in.

Et Mica lui dit: Demeure avec moi, et sois-moi pour père et pour Sacrificateur, et je te donnerai dix [pièces] d'argent par an, et ce que tes habits coûteront, et ta nourriture. Et le Lévite y alla.

11 And the Levite consented to dwell with the man; and the young man was unto him as one of his sons.

Ainsi le Lévite convint de demeurer avec cet homme-là, et ce jeune homme lui fut comme l'un de ses enfants.

12 And Micah consecrated the Levite; and the young man became his priest, and remained in the house of Micah.

Et Mica consacra le Lévite, et ce jeune homme lui servit de Sacrificateur, et demeura en sa maison.

13 Then said Micah, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, seeing I have obtained a Levite for priest.

Alors Mica dit: Maintenant je connais que l'Eternel me fera du bien, parce que j'ai un Lévite pour Sacrificateur.
