Joshua 6
1 Now Jericho was shut up, and barred up, because of the children of Israel: no one went out, and no one came in.
Η δε Ιεριχώ ήτο συγκεκλεισμένη και ωχυρωμένη εξ αιτίας των υιών Ισραήλ· ουδείς εξήρχετο και ουδείς εισήρχετο.
2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho and its king, even the mighty men of valor.
Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Ιησούν, Ιδού, παρέδωκα εις την χείρα σου την Ιεριχώ και τον βασιλέα αυτής και τους δυνατούς εν ισχύϊ.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
Και θέλετε περιέλθει την πόλιν, πάντες οι άνδρες του πολέμου, κύκλω της πόλεως άπαξ· ούτω θέλεις κάμνει εξ ημέρας.
4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven cornets of rams' horns; and on the seventh day shall ye compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the cornets.
Και επτά ιερείς θέλουσι βαστάζει έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού επτά σάλπιγγας κερατίνας· και την εβδόμην ημέραν θέλετε περιέλθει την πόλιν επτάκις· και οι ιερείς θέλουσι σαλπίζει με τας σάλπιγγας.
5 And it shall come to pass, that, when they blow a long blast with the ram's horn, when ye hear the sound of the cornet all the people shall utter a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
Και όταν σαλπίσωσι με την κερατίνην επεκτείνοντες, καθώς ακούσητε τον ήχον της σάλπιγγος, πας ο λαός θέλει αλαλάξει μέγαν αλαλαγμόν, και θέλει καταπέσει το τείχος της πόλεως υφ' εαυτό, και ο λαός θέλει αναβή, έκαστος κατ' ενώπιον αυτού.
6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven cornets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord.
Και εκάλεσεν Ιησούς ο υιός του Ναυή τους ιερείς και είπε προς αυτούς, Λάβετε την κιβωτόν της διαθήκης, και επτά ιερείς ας βαστάζωσιν επτά σάλπιγγας κερατίνας έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού του Κυρίου.
7 And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let the armed men pass on before the ark of the Lord.
Και είπε προς τον λαόν, Περάσατε και περιέλθετε την πόλιν, και οι ώπλισμένοι ας περάσωσιν έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού του Κυρίου.
8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests, bearing the seven cornets of rams' horns before the Lord, passed on and blew with the cornets; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.
Και αφού ο Ιησούς ελάλησε προς τον λαόν, οι επτά ιερείς βαστάζοντες τας επτά κερατίνας σάλπιγγας έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου επέρασαν και εσάλπιζον με τας σάλπιγγας, και η κιβωτός της διαθήκης του Κυρίου ηκολούθει αυτούς.
9 And the armed men went before the priests that blew the cornets, and the rereward came after the ark, going on, and blowing with the cornets.
Και οι ώπλισμένοι προεπορεύοντο των ιερέων, των σαλπιζόντων με τας σάλπιγγας, και η οπισθοφυλακή ηκολούθει όπισθεν της κιβωτού, ενώ οι ιερείς προχωρούντες εσάλπιζον με τας σάλπιγγας.
10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you, Shout; and then shall ye shout.
Και προσέταξεν ο Ιησούς τον λαόν, λέγων, Δεν θέλετε αλαλάξει, ουδέ θέλει ακουσθή η φωνή σας, ουδέ θέλει εξέλθει λόγος εκ του στόματός σας, μέχρι της ημέρας καθ' ην θέλω σας ειπεί να αλαλάξητε· τότε θέλετε αλαλάξει.
11 So the ark of the Lord compassed the city, going round it once; and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
Και η κιβωτός του Κυρίου περιήλθε την πόλιν κύκλω άπαξ· και ήλθον εις το στρατόπεδον και διενυκτέρευσαν εν τω στρατοπέδω.
12 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.
Και εξηγέρθη ο Ιησούς το πρωΐ, και οι ιερείς εσήκωσαν την κιβωτόν του Κυρίου·
13 And the seven priests bearing the seven cornets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew with the cornets; and the armed men went before them; and the rereward came after the ark of the Lord, going on, and blowing with the cornets.
και οι επτά ιερείς, βαστάζοντες τας επτά κερατίνας σάλπιγγας, προεπορεύοντο της κιβωτού του Κυρίου, πορευόμενοι και σαλπίζοντες με τας σάλπιγγας· και έμπροσθεν αυτών επορεύοντο οι ώπλισμένοι· η δε οπισθοφυλακή ηκολούθει όπισθεν της κιβωτού του Κυρίου, ενώ οι ιερείς προχωρούντες εσάλπιζον με τας σάλπιγγας.
14 And they compassed the city on the second day once, and returned into the camp: so did they six days.
Και την δευτέραν ημέραν περιήλθον την πόλιν άπαξ, και επέστρεψαν εις το στρατόπεδον· ούτως έκαμνον εξ ημέρας.
15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after this manner seven times; only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
Και την εβδόμην ημέραν εξηγέρθησαν περί τα χαράγματα και περιήλθον την πόλιν επτάκις κατά τον αυτόν τρόπον· μόνον εν ταύτη τη ημέρα περιήλθον την πόλιν επτάκις.
16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priest blew with the cornets, that Joshua' said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city.
Και εις την εβδόμην φοράν, ενώ εσάλπιζον οι ιερείς με τας σάλπιγγας, είπεν ο Ιησούς προς τον λαόν, Αλαλάξατε· διότι ο Κύριος παρέδωκεν εις εσάς την πόλιν·
17 And the city shall be devoted, it, and all that is therein, to the Lord: only Rachab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house; because she did hide the messengers that we sent.
και η πόλις θέλει είσθαι ανάθεμα εις τον Κύριον, αυτή και πάντα τα εν αυτή· εις μόνην την Ραάβ την πόρνην θέλει φυλαχθή η ζωή, εις αυτήν και εις πάντας τους όντας εν τη οικία μετ' αυτής· διότι έκρυψε τους κατασκόπους, τους οποίους απεστείλαμεν·
18 But ye, keep yourselves from the devoted things, lest ye devote and yet take of the devoted things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
σεις όμως φυλάχθητε από του αναθέματος, διά να μη γείνητε ανάθεμα, λαμβάνοντες από του αναθέματος, και καταστήσητε το στρατόπεδον του Ισραήλ ανάθεμα και ταράξητε αυτό·
19 And all the silver, and gold, and vessels of copper and iron, shall be holy unto the Lord: into the treasury of the Lord shall they come.
άπαν δε το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη τα χάλκινα και τα σιδηρά είναι αφιερωμένα εις τον Κύριον· εις το θησαυροφυλάκιον του Κυρίου θέλουσιν εισαχθή.
20 So the people shouted, when they blew with the cornets; and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the cornet, that the people uttered a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, and the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.
Και ηλάλαξεν ο λαός, ότε εσάλπισαν με τας σάλπιγγας· και ως ήκουσεν ο λαός την φωνήν των σαλπίγγων, τότε ηλάλαξεν ο λαός αλαλαγμόν μέγαν, και κατέπεσε το τείχος υφ' εαυτό, και ανέβη ο λαός εις την πόλιν, έκαστος κατ' ενώπιον αυτού, και εκυρίευσαν την πόλιν.
21 And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and lamb, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
Και εξωλόθρευσαν εν στόματι μαχαίρας πάντας τους εν τη πόλει, άνδρας και γυναίκας, νέους και γέροντας, και βόας και πρόβατα και όνους.
22 But unto the two men that had spied out the country, Joshua said, Go into the house of the woman, the harlot, and bring out thence the woman, and all belonging to her, as ye have sworn unto her.
Είπε δε ο Ιησούς προς τους δύο άνδρας, τους κατασκοπεύσαντας την γην, Εισέλθετε εις την οικίαν της πόρνης και εξαγάγετε εκείθεν την γυναίκα, και πάντα όσα έχει, καθώς ώμόσατε προς αυτήν.
23 And the young men, the spies, went in, and brought out Rachab, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all belonging to her: and they brought out all her kindred, and they left them without the camp of Israel.
Και εισήλθον οι νέοι οι κατάσκοποι και εξήγαγον την Ραάβ και τον πατέρα αυτής και την μητέρα αυτής και τους αδελφούς αυτής, και πάντα όσα είχε· και εξήγαγον πάσαν την συγγένειαν αυτής και εφύλαξαν αυτούς έξω του στρατοπέδου του Ισραήλ.
24 And the city they burnt with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of copper and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
Και κατέκαυσαν την πόλιν εν πυρί και πάντα τα εν αυτή· μόνον το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη τα χάλκινα και τα σιδηρά έδωκαν εις το θησαυροφυλάκιον του οίκου του Κυρίου.
25 And Rachab the harlot did Joshua save alive, and her father's household, and all belonging to her; and she dwelt in the midst of Israel even unto this day; because she had hidden the messengers, whom Joshua had sent to spy out Jericho.
Και εις την Ραάβ την πόρνην και εις την οικογένειαν του πατρός αυτής και εις πάντα όσα είχε, ο Ιησούς εφύλαξε την ζωήν· και κατοικεί εν τω μέσω του Ισραήλ έως της σήμερον· διότι έκρυψε τους κατασκόπους, τους οποίους απέστειλεν ο Ιησούς διά να κατασκοπεύσωσι την Ιεριχώ.
26 And Joshua adjured [the people] at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord, that will rise up and build this city Jericho: with his first-born shall he lay its foundation, and with his youngest shall he set up its gates.
Και ώμοσεν ο Ιησούς κατ' εκείνον τον καιρόν, λέγων, Κατηραμένος ενώπιον του Κυρίου ο άνθρωπος, όστις αναστήση και κτίση την πόλιν ταύτην την Ιεριχώ· με τον θάνατον του πρωτοτόκου υιού αυτού θέλει βάλει τα θεμέλια αυτής, και με τον θάνατον του νεωτάτου υιού αυτού θέλει στήσει τας πύλας αυτής.
27 And the Lord was with Joshua; and his fame was spread throughout all the country.
Και ο Κύριος ήτο μετά του Ιησού, και το όνομα αυτού διεφημίσθη καθ' όλην την γην.
