Joshua 17

1 And then came the lot for the tribe of Menasseh; for he was the first-born of Joseph: to wit, for Machir the first-born of Menasseh, the father of Gil'ad; because he was a man of war, therefore he obtained Gil'ad and Bashan.

Bagian undian yang ditentukan bagi suku Manasye, sebab dialah anak sulung Yusuf, ialah demikian: Kepada Makhir, anak sulung Manasye, bapa Gilead, telah diberikan Gilead dan Basan, karena ia seorang tentara.

2 There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Menasseh after their families; for the children of Abi'ezer, and for the children of Chelek, and for the children of Assriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Chepher, and for the children of Shemida': these were the male children of Menasseh the son of Joseph after their families.

Jadi bagian itulah yang ditentukan bagi anak-anak Manasye yang lain, menurut kaum-kaum mereka, yakni bagi bani Abiezer, bani Helek, bani Asriel, bani Sekhem, bani Hefer dan bani Semida; itulah keturunan yang laki-laki dari Manasye bin Yusuf, menurut kaum-kaum mereka.

3 But Zelophchad, the son of Chepher, the son of Gil'ad, the son of Machir, the son of Menasseh, had no sons, but only daughters, and these are the names of his daughters, Machlah, and No'ah, Choglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

Tetapi Zelafehad bin Hefer bin Gilead bin Makhir bin Manasye tidak mempunyai anak laki-laki, tetapi hanya anak perempuan. Inilah nama anak-anaknya itu: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milka dan Tirza.

4 And they came near before Elazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The Lord commanded Moses to give unto us an inheritance among our brethren. And he gave them, according to the order of the Lord, an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

Mereka datang menghadap imam Eleazar, dan menghadap Yosua bin Nun, serta para pemimpin, dan berkata: "TUHAN telah memerintahkan kepada Musa untuk memberikan milik pusaka kepada kami di tengah-tengah saudara-saudara kami." Sebab itu diberikannya kepada mereka, milik pusaka di tengah-tengah saudara-saudara ayah mereka, sesuai dengan titah TUHAN.

5 And there fell ten portions of Menasseh, beside the lands of Gil'ad and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Jordan;

Demikianlah kepada suku Manasye jatuh sepuluh bidang tanah, selain dari tanah Gilead dan Basan yang di seberang Yordan,

6 Because the daughters of Menasseh obtained an inheritance among his sons: and the land of Gil'ad belonged to the rest of the sons of Manasseh.

sebab anak-anak perempuan Manasye telah menerima milik pusaka di tengah-tengah anak-anaknya lelaki, sedang tanah Gilead ditentukan bagi anak-anak lelaki Manasye yang lain.

7 And the boundary of Menasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, that lieth before Shechem; and the boundary went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of 'En-tappuach.

Jadi batas daerah Manasye ialah dari Asyer ke Mikhmetat yang di sebelah timur Sikhem; kemudian batas itu terus ke selatan ke daerah penduduk En-Tapuah.

8 To Menasseh belonged the land of Tappuach; but Tappuach on the borders of Menasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

Tanah Tapuah adalah kepunyaan suku Manasye, tetapi kota Tapuah, dekat batas daerah Manasye, adalah kepunyaan bani Efraim.

9 And the boundary descended unto the brook Kanah, southward of the brook; these cities belonging to Ephraim are in the midst of the cities of Menasseh; and the boundary of Menasseh was on the north side of the river, and its terminations were toward the sea:

Kemudian batas itu turun ke sungai Kana, ke sebelah selatan sungai itu. Kota-kota di sana adalah kepunyaan suku Efraim, sekalipun di tengah-tengah kota-kota suku Manasye. Selanjutnya batas daerah Manasye itu lewat dari sebelah utara sungai itu dan berakhir ke laut.

10 Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Menasseh's, and the sea was [there] his boundary; and on Asher they touched on the north, and on Issachar on the east.

Ke selatan daerah itu kepunyaan suku Efraim dan ke utara kepunyaan suku Manasye. Batasnya ialah laut; di sebelah utara batas daerah itu menyinggung daerah Asyer, di sebelah timur menyinggung daerah Isakhar.

11 And to Menasseh belonged in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and its towns, and Yible'am and its towns, together with the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of 'En-dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Ta'anach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, namely the three districts.

Tetapi di daerah Isakhar dan Asyer ada juga kepunyaan suku Manasye, yakni Bet-Sean dengan segala anak kotanya, Yibleam dengan segala anak kotanya, penduduk Dor dengan segala anak kotanya, penduduk En-Dor dengan segala anak kotanya, penduduk Taanakh dengan segala anak kotanya, dan penduduk Megido dengan segala anak kotanya, yakni ketiga daerah bukit itu.

12 Yet the children of Menasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of these cities; but the Canaanites succeeded to dwell in this land;

Tetapi bani Manasye tidak dapat menduduki kota-kota itu, sebab orang Kanaan berhasil untuk tetap diam di negeri itu.

13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were become strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but they did not drive them out.

Setelah orang Israel menjadi kuat, orang Kanaan itu dibuatnya menjadi orang rodi, tetapi tidaklah sama sekali mereka itu dihalaunya.

14 And the children of Joseph spoke unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion as an inheritance, seeing I am a numerous people, to which extent the Lord hath hitherto blessed me?

Berkatalah bani Yusuf kepada Yosua, demikian: "Mengapa engkau memberikan kepadaku hanya satu bagian undian dan satu bidang tanah saja menjadi milik pusaka, padahal aku ini bangsa yang banyak jumlahnya, karena TUHAN sampai sekarang memberkati aku?"

15 And Joshua said unto them, If thou art a numerous people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down [a space] for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim, if the mountain of Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

Jawab Yosua kepada mereka: "Kalau engkau bangsa yang banyak jumlahnya, pergilah ke hutan dan bukalah tanah bagimu di sana di negeri orang Feris dan orang Refaim, jika pegunungan Efraim terlalu sesak bagimu."

16 And the children of Joseph said, The mountain will not be enough for us; and chariots of iron are belonging to all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley, to those who are at Beth-shean and its towns, and to those who are in the valley of Yizre'el.

Kemudian berkatalah bani Yusuf: "Pegunungan itu tidak cukup bagi kami, dan semua orang Kanaan yang diam di dataran itu mempunyai kereta besi, baik yang diam di Bet-Sean dengan segala anak kotanya maupun yang diam di lembah Yizreel."

17 And Joshua said unto the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and to Menasseh, as followeth, Thou art a numerous people, and hast great power; thou shalt not have one lot only;

Lalu berkatalah Yosua kepada keturunan Yusuf, kepada suku Efraim dan suku Manasye: "Engkau ini bangsa yang banyak jumlahnya dan mempunyai kekuatan yang besar; tidak hanya satu bagian undian ditentukan bagimu,

18 But the mountain shall be thine; it is indeed a wood, yet thou canst cut it down; and the terminations of it shall be thine; for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, though they be strong.

tetapi pegunungan itu akan ditentukan bagimu juga, dan karena tanah itu hutan, haruslah kamu membukanya; kamu akan memilikinya sampai kepada ujung-ujungnya, sebab kamu akan menghalau orang Kanaan itu, sekalipun mereka mempunyai kereta besi dan sekalipun mereka kuat."
