Joshua 16

1 And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from the Jordan by Jericho, unto the waters of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho by the mount Beth-el,

Mgawanyo wa Yosefu ulianzia Yordani ya Yeriko, mashariki mwa miji ya Yeriko na kutoka hapo ulipanda kupitia jangwani na kuingia katika nchi ya vilima ya Betheli.

2 And [the boundary] went out from Beth-el to Luz, and passed along unto the boundary of the Arkites to 'Ataroth,

Ukaendelea kutoka Betheli (ndiyo Luzu), ukavuka kuingia eneo la Waariki huko Atarothi,

3 And went down westward to the boundary of the Yaphleti, unto the border of Beth-choron the lower, and to Gezer; and its terminations were toward the sea.

ukateremkia kuelekea magharibi hadi eneo la Wayafleti ukienea hadi eneo la Beth-Horoni ya Chini hadi Gezeri, ukiishia baharini.

4 This did the children of Joseph, Menasseh and Ephraim, take as their inheritance.

Kwa hiyo Manase na Efraimu, wazao wa Yosefu, walipokea urithi wao.

5 And [this] was the boundary of the children of Ephraim according to their families; and the boundary of their inheritance on the east side was 'Atroth-addar, up to Beth-choron the upper;

Hili ndilo lilikuwa eneo la Efraimu, ukoo kwa ukoo: Mpaka wa urithi wao ulianzia Ataroth-Adari upande wa mashariki hadi Beth-Horoni ya Juu,

6 And the boundary went out toward the sea to Michmethath on the north; and the boundary fetched a compass eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Yanochah;

na kuendelea mpaka baharini. Kutoka Mikmeta upande wa kaskazini ulipinda kuelekea mashariki hadi Taanath-Shilo, ukiupita hadi Yanoa upande wa mashariki.

7 And it went down from Yanochah to 'Ataroth, and to Na'arath, and touched on Jericho, and went out at the Jordan.

Kisha uliteremka kutoka Yanoa hadi Atarothi na Naara, ukagusa Yeriko na kutokea katika Mto Yordani.

8 From Tappuach westward the border went out unto the brook Kanah; and its terminations were toward the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim after their families;

Kutoka Tapua mpaka ulikwenda magharibi hadi Bonde la Kana na kuishia baharini. Huu ulikuwa ndio urithi wa kabila la Waefraimu, ukoo kwa ukoo.

9 And [in addition to this] the cities which were separated for the children of Ephraim in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Menasseh, all the cities with their villages.

Pia ulijumuisha miji yote na vijiji vyake ambavyo vilitengwa kwa ajili ya Waefraimu ndani ya urithi wa kabila la Manase.

10 And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt among the Ephraimites until this day, and became tributary servants.

Hawakuwatoa Wakanaani waishio Gezeri; mpaka leo Wakanaani wanaishi miongoni mwa watu wa Efraimu lakini wanatakiwa kufanya kazi ngumu za kulazimishwa.
