< Joshua 14 >
1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel obtained as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for an inheritance unto them,
Maya nĩmo mabũrũri marĩa andũ a Isiraeli maheirwo matuĩke igai rĩao bũrũri-inĩ wa Kaanani, ũrĩa Eleazaru mũthĩnjĩri-Ngai, na Joshua mũrũ wa Nuni, na atongoria a mbarĩ cia mĩhĩrĩga ya Isiraeli maamagaĩire.
2 By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.
Magai mao maagairwo na njĩra ya gũcuukĩra mĩtĩ kũrĩ o mĩhĩrĩga ĩyo kenda na nuthu, o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathĩte Musa,
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.
nĩgũkorwo Musa nĩaheete mĩhĩrĩga ĩĩrĩ na nuthu igai rĩao mwena wa irathĩro wa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani. No rĩrĩ, ndaaheete Alawii igai hamwe na andũ acio angĩ,
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Menasseh and Ephraim; therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their open spaces for their cattle and for their substance.
5 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and so divided they the land.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ a Isiraeli makĩgayania bũrũri ũcio o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathĩte Musa.
6 And the children of Judah came near unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou well knowest the word which the Lord spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thyself in Kadesh-barnea'.
Na rĩrĩ, andũ a mũhĩrĩga wa Juda magĩthiĩ kũrĩ Joshua kũu Giligali, nake Kalebu mũrũ wa Jefune ũrĩa Mũkenizi akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩũũĩ ũhoro ũrĩa Jehova eerire Musa mũndũ wa Ngai ũkoniĩ niĩ nawe tũrĩ kũu Kadeshi-Barinea.
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea' to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
Niĩ ndaarĩ na ũkũrũ wa mĩaka mĩrongo ĩna hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Musa ndungata ya Jehova aandũmire kuuma Kadeshi-Barinea thiĩ ngathigaane bũrũri ũcio. Nĩndamũcookeirie ũhoro o ta ũrĩa warĩ ngoro-inĩ yakwa,
8 But my brethren who had gone up with me caused the heart of the people to be faint; but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
no rĩrĩ, ariũ a ithe witũ arĩa twaambatanĩtie nao nĩmatũmire ngoro cia andũ ciyũrwo nĩ guoya. No o na kũrĩ ũguo-rĩ, niĩ nĩ ndarũmĩrĩire Jehova Ngai wakwa na ngoro yakwa yothe.
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, Musa akĩĩhĩta na mwĩhĩtwa mũthenya o ro ũcio akĩnjĩĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Ti-itherũ bũrũri ũcio makinya maku marakinyangire ũgaatuĩka igai rĩaku na rĩa ciana ciaku nginya tene, nĩ ũndũ nĩũrũmĩrĩire Jehova Ngai wakwa na ngoro yaku yothe.’
10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.
11 I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.
Ndĩ na hinya ũmũthĩ o ta ũrĩa ndarĩ naguo mũthenya ũrĩa Musa aandũmire; ndĩ na hinya wa gũthiĩ mbaara-inĩ o ta ũrĩa ndaarĩ naguo hĩndĩ ĩyo, hinya wa gũthiĩ rũgendo kana wa kũinũka mũciĩ.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke on that day; for thou didst hear on that day that the 'Anakim were there, and great fortified cities: perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the Lord hath spoken.
Tondũ ũcio rĩu kĩĩhe bũrũri ũyũ wa irĩma, o ũrĩa Jehova aaririe ũhoro waguo mũthenya ũcio. Wee mwene nĩwaiguire mũthenya ũcio atĩ andũ a Anaki maarĩ kũndũ kũu, namo matũũra mao maarĩ manene na makairigĩrwo na hinya mũno, na rĩrĩ, Jehova angĩkorwo hamwe na niĩ andeithie-rĩ, nĩngũmaingata o ta ũrĩa oigire.”
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh for an inheritance.
Nake Joshua agĩkĩrathima Kalebu mũrũ wa Jefune, na akĩmũhe Hebironi gũtuĩke igai rĩake.
14 Therefore did Hebron become the inheritance of Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day; for the cause that he had wholly followed the Lord the God of Israel.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Hebironi gũtũũire kũrĩ gwa Kalebu mũrũ wa Jefune ũcio Mũkenizi kuuma hĩndĩ ĩyo, nĩ ũndũ nĩarũmĩrĩire Jehova Ngai wa Isiraeli na ngoro yake yothe.
15 And the name of Hebron was aforetimes Kiryatharba', who was the greatest man among the 'Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
(Hebironi gwetagwo Kiriathu-Ariba nĩ ũndũ gwetanĩtio na Ariba, ũrĩa warĩ mũndũ mũnene mũno gũkĩra arĩa angĩ othe thĩinĩ wa andũ a Anaki). Naguo bũrũri ũkĩhoorera, gũkĩaga mbaara.
