Joshua 14
1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel obtained as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for an inheritance unto them,
Ja nämät ovat ne mitkä Israelin lapset ovat perimiseksi saaneet Kanaanin maalla, jonka heille perinnöksi jakoi pappi Eleatsar ja Josua Nunin poika ja Israelin lasten sukukuntain ylimmäiset isät.
2 By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.
Ja he jakoivat sen heillensä arvalla, niinkuin Herra oli käskenyt Moseksen käden kautta, yhdeksälle sukukunnalle ja puolelle sukukunnalle.
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.
Sillä Moses oli antanut puolelle kolmatta sukukunnalle perimisen tuolla puolella Jordania. Mutta Leviläisille ei hän antanut yhtään perimistä heidän seassansa.
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Menasseh and Ephraim; therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their open spaces for their cattle and for their substance.
Sillä Josephin lasten oli kaksi sukukuntaa, Manasse ja Ephraim; sentähden ei he Leviläisille yhtään osaa antaneet maakunnassa, vaan kaupungit heidän asuaksensa, ja esikaupungit, joissa heidän karjansa ja kalunsa oleman piti.
5 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and so divided they the land.
Niinkuin Herra oli Mosekselle käskenyt, niin tekivät Israelin lapset, ja jakoivat maakunnan.
6 And the children of Judah came near unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou well knowest the word which the Lord spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thyself in Kadesh-barnea'.
Silloin menivät Juudan lapset Josuan tykö Gilgalissa, ja Kaleb Jephunnen poika Kenisiläinen sanoi hänelle: sinä tiedät, mitä Herra sanoi Jumalan miehelle Mosekselle minun ja sinun puolestas KadesBarneassa.
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea' to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
Minä olin neljänkymmenen ajastaikainen, kuin Moses Herran palvelia minun lähetti KadesBarneasta vakoomaan maata, ja minä sanoin hänelle jälleen vastauksen sydämeni jälkeen.
8 But my brethren who had gone up with me caused the heart of the people to be faint; but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
Mutta veljeni, jotka minun kanssani menneet olivat, saattivat kansalle vapisevaisen sydämen; mutta minä seurasin Herraa minun Jumalaani uskollisesti.
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
Ja Moses vannoi sinä päivänä ja sanoi: se maa, jonka päälle sinä jaloillas olet astunut, on sinun ja sinun lastes perittävä ijankaikkisesti, ettäs Herraa minun Jumalaani uskollisesti seurannut olet.
10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.
Ja nyt katso, Herra on antanut minun elää, niinkuin hän sanonut oli. Tämä on viides ajastaika viidettäkymmentä sittekuin Herra näitä sanoi Mosekselle, kuin Israel vaelsi korvessa. Ja katso, minä olen tänäpäivänä viiden ajastajan vanha yhdeksättäkymmentä,
11 I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.
Ja olen vielä tänäpäivänä niin väkevä, kuin minä sinä päivänä olin, jona Mosen minun lähetti; niinkuin väkevyyteni oli siihen aikaan, niin on se vielä nyt vahva sotimaan, käymään ulos ja sisälle.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke on that day; for thou didst hear on that day that the 'Anakim were there, and great fortified cities: perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the Lord hath spoken.
Niin anna nyt minulle tämä vuori, josta Herra sanoi sinä päivänä, sillä sinä kuulit sen siihen aikaan. Ja Enakilaiset asuvat siellä, ja siellä ovat suuret ja vahvat kaupungit; jos Herra on minun kanssani, että minä ajaisin heidät pois, niinkuin Herra on sanonut.
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh for an inheritance.
Ja Josua siunasi häntä ja antoi Kalebille Jephunnen pojalle Hebronin perimiseksi.
14 Therefore did Hebron become the inheritance of Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day; for the cause that he had wholly followed the Lord the God of Israel.
Siitä oli Hebron Kalebin Jephunnen pojan Kenisiläisen perimys tähän päivään asti, että hän on uskollisesti seurannut Herraa Israelin Jumalaa.
15 And the name of Hebron was aforetimes Kiryatharba', who was the greatest man among the 'Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
Mutta Hebron kutsuttiin muinaiseen aikaan KirjatArba, joka oli suurin mies Enakilaisten seassa; ja maakunta lakkasi sotimasta.
