Joshua 14
1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel obtained as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for an inheritance unto them,
১কনান দেশে ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানরা এই এই অধিকার গ্রহণ করল; ইলীয়াসর যাজক ও নূনের পুত্র যিহোশূয় এবং ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানদের বংশগুলির পিতৃকুলপতিরা এই সব তাদেরকে অংশ করে দিলেন;
2 By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.
২সদাপ্রভু মোশির মাধ্যমে যেরকম আদেশ করেছিলেন, সেই অনুসারে তারা গুলিবাটের মাধ্যমে সাড়ে নয় বংশের অংশ নির্ধারণ করলেন।
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.
৩কারণ যর্দ্দনের ওপারে মোশি আড়াই বংশকে অধিকার দিয়েছিলেন, কিন্তু লেবীয়দের লোকদের মধ্যে কোন অধিকার দেন নি।
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Menasseh and Ephraim; therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their open spaces for their cattle and for their substance.
৪কারণ যোষেফ-সন্তানরা দুই বংশ হল, মনঃশি ও ইফ্রয়িম; আর লেবীয়দেরকে দেশে কোন অংশ দেওয়া গেল না, কেবল বাস করবার জন্য কতগুলি নগর এবং তাদের পশুপালের ও তাদের সম্পত্তির জন্য সেই সকল নগরের পশুপালনের মাঠগুলিও দেওয়া হল।
5 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and so divided they the land.
৫সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে যে আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন, ইস্রায়েল-সন্তানরা সেই অনুসারে কাজ করল এবং দেশ বিভাগ করে নিল।
6 And the children of Judah came near unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou well knowest the word which the Lord spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thyself in Kadesh-barnea'.
৬আর যিহূদা-সন্তানরা গিল্গলে যিহোশূয়ের কাছে আসল; আর কনিসীয় যিফুন্নির পুত্র কালেব তাকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু আমার ও তোমার বিষয়ে কাদেশ-বর্ণেয়ে ঈশ্বরের লোক মোশিকে যে কথা বলেছিলেন, তা তুমি জানো।
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea' to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.
৭আমার চল্লিশ বছর বয়সের দিনের সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি দেশ অনুসন্ধান করতে কাদেশ-বর্ণেয় থেকে আমাকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন, আর আমি সরল মনে তার কাছে সংবাদ এনে দিয়েছিলাম।
8 But my brethren who had gone up with me caused the heart of the people to be faint; but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
৮আমার যে ভাইয়েরা আমার সঙ্গে গিয়েছিল, তারা লোকদের হৃদয় [ভয়ে] গলিয়ে দিয়েছিল; কিন্তু আমি পুরোপুরিভাবে নিজের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগামী ছিলাম।
9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
৯আর মোশি ওই দিনের শপথ করে বলেছিলেন, যে জমির উপরে তোমার পা পড়েছে, সেই জমি তোমার ও চিরকাল তোমার সন্তানদের অধিকার হবে; কারণ তুমি পুরোপুরি আমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুসরণ করেছ।
10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.
১০আর এখন দেখ, প্রান্তরে ইস্রায়েলের ভ্রমণের দিনের যখন সদাপ্রভু মোশিকে সেই কথা বলেছিলেন, তখন থেকে সদাপ্রভু নিজের বাক্য অনুসারে এই পঁয়তাল্লিশ বছর আমাকে জীবিত রেখেছেন; আর এখন, দেখ, আজ আমার বয়স পঁচাশী বছর।
11 I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.
১১মোশি যে দিন আমাকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন, সেই দিন আমি যেমন বলবান ছিলাম, এখন পর্যন্ত তেমনি আছি; যুদ্ধের জন্য এবং বাইরে যাবার ও ভিতরে আসার জন্য আমার তখন যেমন শক্তি ছিল, এখনও সেরকম শক্তি আছে।
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke on that day; for thou didst hear on that day that the 'Anakim were there, and great fortified cities: perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the Lord hath spoken.
১২অতএব সেই দিন সদাপ্রভু এই যে পর্বতের বিষয় বলেছিলেন, এখন তা আমাকে দাও; কারণ তুমি সেই দিন শুনেছিলে যে, অনাকীয়েরা সেখানে থাকে এবং নগরগুলি বড় ও প্রাচীর দিয়ে ঘেরা; হয় তো, সদাপ্রভু আমার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে থাকবেন, আর আমি সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য অনুসারে তাদেরকে অধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত করব।”
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh for an inheritance.
১৩তখন যিহোশূয় তাকে আশীর্বাদ করলেন এবং যিফুন্নির ছেলে কালেবকে রাজত্বের জন্য হিব্রোণ দিলেন।
14 Therefore did Hebron become the inheritance of Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day; for the cause that he had wholly followed the Lord the God of Israel.
১৪এই জন্য আজ পর্যন্ত হিব্রোণ কনিসীয় যিফুন্নির পুত্র কালেবের অধিকার রয়েছে; কারণ তিনি পুরোপুরিভাবে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর অনুগামী ছিলেন।
15 And the name of Hebron was aforetimes Kiryatharba', who was the greatest man among the 'Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
১৫পূর্বকালে হিব্রোণের নাম কিরিয়ৎ অর্ব [অর্বপুর] ছিল; ঐ অর্ব অনাকীয়দের মধ্যে মহান ছিলেন। পরে দেশে যুদ্ধ শেষ হল।
