Joshua 10
1 Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek, the king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured 'Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; [that] as he had done to Jericho and its king, so had he done to 'Ai and its king; and that the inhabitants of Gib'on had made peace with Israel, and were in the midst of them:
Der König von Jerusalem nun, Adonisedek, hörte, daß Josue Ai erobert und es gebannt habe. Wie er Jericho und seinem König getan, so habe er auch Ai und seinem König getan, und Gibeons Einwohner hätten mit Israel Frieden geschlossen und gehörten zu ihnen.
2 That they were greatly afraid; because Gib'on was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than 'Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
Da fürchteten sie sich sehr. Denn Gibeon war eine große Stadt wie irgendeine Reichsstadt. Sie war größer als Ai, und alle ihre Männer waren tapfere Leute.
3 Therefore Adoni-zedek the king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham the king of Hebron, and unto Piram the king of Yarmuth, and unto Yaphia', the king of Lachish, and unto Debir the king of 'Eglon, saying,
Da sandte Jerusalems König Adonisedek zu Hebrons König, Hoham, zu dem von Jarmut, Piram, zu dem von Lachis, Japhia, und zu Eglons König, Debir, und ließ sagen:
4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gib'on; for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
"Zieht zu mir herauf und helft mir! Wir wollen Gibeon schlagen dafür, daß es mit Josue und den Israeliten Frieden geschlossen."
5 And the five kings of the Emorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Yarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of 'Eglon, assembled themselves together, and went up, they and all their camps, and encamped before Gib'on, and made war against it.
Da taten sich die fünf Amoriterkönige zusammen und zogen heran, der König von Jerusalem, der von Hebron, der von Jarmut, der von Lachis und der von Eglon, mit ihren ganzen Heeren. Und sie lagerten gegen Gibeon und bestürmten es.
6 And the men of Gib'on sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Do not withdraw thy hand from thy servants: come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Emorites that dwell in the mountains are assembled together against us.
Da sandten die Gibeoniter zu Josue ins Lager nach dem Gilgal und ließen sagen: "Zieh deine Hand nicht von deinen Sklaven! Komm schnell zu uns und hilf uns! Denn alle Amoriterkönige auf dem Gebirge scharen sich wider uns."
7 And Joshua went up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
Da zog Josue mit dem ganzen Kriegsvolk, lauter tapferen Männern, vom Gilgal aus.
8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Be not afraid of them; for into thy hand have I delivered them: there shall not stand a man of them before thee.
Und der Herr sprach zu Josue: "Hab keine Furcht vor ihnen! Ich gebe sie in deine Hand. Nicht einer von ihnen hält dir stand."
9 And Joshua came unto them suddenly; the whole night he went up from Gilgal.
Und Josue überfiel sie plötzlich. Denn er war die ganze Nacht vom Gilgal heraufgezogen.
10 And the Lord brought them in confusion before Israel, and they smote them with a great slaughter at Gib'on, and pursued them by the way of the ascent to Beth-choron, and smote them up to 'Azekah, and up to Makkedah.
Und der Herr verwirrte sie vor Israel, und dieses schlug sie bei Gibeon schwer, verfolgte sie gegen die Steige von Bet Choron und schlug sie bis Azeka und Makeda.
11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, while they were in the declivity of Beth-choron, that the Lord cast down upon them great stones from heaven, up to 'Azekah, and they died: there were more who died by means of the hailstones than those whom the children of Israel had slain with the sword.
Als sie, vor Israel fliehend, auf dem Abhang von Bet Choron waren, warf der Herr auf sie große Steine vom Himmel bis nach Azeka, daß sie starben. Und durch Hagelsteine starben mehr, als die Israeliten mit dem Schwert umgebracht hatten.
12 Then spoke Joshua to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered up the Emorites before the children of Israel, and he said before the eyes of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gib'on; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ayalon.
Damals sprach Josue zum Herrn an dem Tage, da der Herr die Amoriter den Israeliten preisgab. Er sprach in der Israeliten Gegenwart: "Sonne, steh still zu Gibeon; du Mond, im Tale Ajalon!"
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Yashar? And the sun stood still in the midst of the heavens, and hastened not to go down about a whole day.
Und still stand der Lauf des Mondes und der Sonne, bis über seine Feinde ein Volk den Sieg gewonnen. Steht es nicht so geschrieben im Buche des Richtigen? Die Sonne stand still mitten am Himmel und eilte nicht unterzugehen, den ganzen Tag.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.
Wie dieser Tag ist keiner zuvor noch nachher gewesen, daß der Herr der Stimme eines Menschen gefolgt hätte. Denn der Herr hatte für Israel gestritten.
15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
Dann kehrte Josue mit ganz Israel ins Lager zurück nach dem Gilgal.
16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in the cave at Makkedah.
Jene fünf Könige aber flohen und versteckten sich in der Höhle bei Makeda.
17 And it was told to Joshua, saying, The five kings have been found hidden in the cave at Makkedah.
Da ward Josue gemeldet: "Die fünf Könige hat man in der Höhle bei Makeda versteckt gefunden."
18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and set men over it to guard them;
Da befahl Josue: "Wälzt große Steine vor den Eingang der Höhle und stellt Männer als Wache dabei auf!
19 But you, do ye not stay, pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them: suffer them not to enter into their cities; for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.
Ihr anderen aber bleibt nicht stehen! Verfolgt eure Feinde! Vernichtet ihre Nachhut! Laßt sie nicht in ihre Städte kommen! Denn der Herr, euer Gott, gibt sie in eure Hand."
20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of smiting them with a very great defeat, till they were all spent, and those that escaped had fled from them and entered into the fortified cities,
So schlugen Josue und die Israeliten sie sehr schwer bis zur Vernichtung. Einige von ihnen aber waren entkommen, und sie gelangten in die festen Städte.
21 That all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: no one pointed against any man of the children of Israel his tongue.
Das ganze Volk kehrte nun zu Josue ins Lager nach Makeda unangefochten zurück. Niemand wagte es, gegen Israel auch nur leise etwas zu sagen.
22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out unto me those five kings out of the cave.
Da befahl Josue: "Öffnet den Höhleneingang und bringt mir aus der Höhle jene fünf Könige!"
23 And they did so, and brought forth unto him those five kings out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Yarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of 'Eglon.
Sie taten so und brachten ihm jene fünf Könige aus der Höhle, den König von Jerusalem, den von Hebron, den von Jarmut, den von Lachis und den von Eglon.
24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the chiefs of the men of war who had gone with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon their necks.
Als man jene Könige zu Josue brachte, rief Josue alle Männer Israels herbei und sprach zu den Obersten der Kriegsleute, die mit ihm gezogen: "Kommt heran und setzt diesen Königen den Fuß auf den Nacken." Da kamen sie heran und setzten ihnen den Fuß auf den Nacken.
25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be disheartened, be strong and of good courage; for thus will the Lord do unto all your enemies against whom ye fight.
Und Josue sprach zu ihnen: "Seid ohne Furcht und unverzagt! Seid fest und mutig! So tut der Herr mit all euren Feinden, gegen die ihr streitet."
26 And Joshua smote them afterward, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees; and they remained hanging upon the trees until the evening.
Hierauf schlug sie Josue und tötete sie. Dann hängte er sie an fünf Pfähle. Und sie hingen an den Pfählen bis zum Abend.
27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down from the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hidden; and they placed great stones upon the mouth of the cave, [which remain] even until this very day.
Gegen Sonnenuntergang befahl Josue, sie von den Pfählen zu nehmen. Man warf sie in die Höhle, in der sie sich versteckt hatten. Dann legte man große Steine vor der Höhle Eingang, bis zu diesem Tage.
28 And Joshua captured Makkedah on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and its king he devoted, them, and all the souls that were therein; he left none that escaped; and he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done unto the king of Jericho.
Und Makeda eroberte Josue am gleichen Tage; er schlug es samt seinem König mit des Schwertes Schärfe. Er hatte sie gebannt und alle anderen Menschen darin. Er hatte keinen einzigen übriggelassen. Und mit Makedas König tat er so, wie er mit Jerichos König getan.
29 Then did Joshua, and all Israel with him, pass from Makkedah unto Libnah; and he fought against Libnah;
Und Josue zog mit ganz Israel von Makeda nach Libna und stritt wider Libna.
30 And the Lord delivered it also into the hand of Israel, with its king; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he left none in it that escaped; and he did unto its king as he had done unto the king of Jericho.
Der Herr gab auch dieses samt dem König in Israels Hand, und Israel schlug es mit des Schwertes Schärfe, sowie alle anderen Leute darin. Keinen einzigen hat es übriggelassen. Und mit seinem Könige tat es so, wie es mit Jerichos König getan.
31 And Joshua, and all Israel with him, passed from Libnah unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it;
Und Josue zog mit ganz Israel von Libna nach Lachis, lagerte davor und stritt dawider.
32 And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel; and he captured it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein: just as he had done to Libnah.
Und der Herr gab Lachis in Israels Hand. Es nahm es am zweiten Tage ein und schlug es mit des Schwertes Schärfe, sowie alle anderen Menschen darin, ganz so, wie es bei Libna getan.
33 Then came up Horam the king of Gezer to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none that escaped.
Damals zog Gezers König, Horam, heran, Lachis zu helfen. Aber Josue schlug ihn und sein Volk so, daß von ihm niemand übrigblieb, der hätte entrinnen können.
34 And Joshua and all Israel with him passed from Lachish unto 'Eglon; and they encamped against it, and fought against it;
Und Josue zog mit ganz Israel von Lachis nach Eglon. Sie lagerten davor und stritten dawider.
35 And they captured it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and all the souls that were therein he devoted on that day: just as he had done to Lachish.
Sie nahmen es am selben Tag und schlugen es mit des Schwertes Schärfe, und alle Leute darin bannten sie an jenem Tage, ganz so, wie sie bei Lachis getan.
36 And Joshua and all Israel with him went up from 'Eglon unto Hebron; and they fought against it;
Und Josue zog mit ganz Israel von Eglon nach Hebron hinauf, und sie stritten dawider.
37 And they captured it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and its king, and all its cities, and all the souls that were therein; he left none that escaped, just as he had done to 'Eglon; and he devoted it, and all the souls that were therein.
Sie nahmen es und schlugen es mit des Schwertes Schärfe, auch den König und alle seine Städte und alle Leute darin. Keinen einzigen haben sie entkommen lassen, ganz so, wie sie bei Eglon getan. Die Stadt und alle Leute darin bannten sie.
38 And Joshua and all Israel with him returned to Debir; and fought against it;
Dann wandte sich Josue mit ganz Israel gegen Debir und griff es an.
39 And he captured it, and its king, and all its cities; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and devoted all the souls that were therein; he left none that escaped: as he had done to Hebron, so did he to Debir and to its king; and as he had done to Libnah and to its king.
Er nahm es samt seinem König und alle seine Städte. Sie schlugen sie mit des Schwertes Schärfe und bannten alle Leute darin. Keinen einzigen hatte er entkommen lassen. Wie er mit Hebron getan und wie mit Libna und seinem König, so tat er mit Debir und seinem König.
40 And Joshua smote all the country, the mountain, and the south, and the lowlands, and the declivities, and all their kings; he left none that escaped; and all that breathed he utterly destroyed, as the Lord, the God of Israel had commanded.
So bezwang Josue das ganze Land, das Bergland, das Südland, die Niederung und das Hügelland mit all ihren Königen. Keinen hatte er entkommen lassen. Alles Lebende hatte er gebannt, wie der Herr, Israels Gott, befohlen hatte.
41 And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea' even unto Gazzah, and all the country of Goshen, even up to Gib'on.
Und Josue bezwang sie von Kades Barnea bis Gaza und das ganze Land Gosen bis Gibeon.
42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua capture at one time; because the Lord, the God of Israel fought for Israel.
Alle jene Könige und ihr Land nahm Josue auf einmal. Denn der Herr, Israels Gott, hatte für Israel gestritten.
43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
Hierauf kehrten Josue und ganz Israel ins Lager nach dem Gilgal zurück.
