Jonah 2
1 Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
Och Jona bad till HERREN, sin Gud, i fiskens buk.
2 And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
Han sade: »Jag åkallade HERREN i min nöd, och han svarade mig; från dödsrikets buk ropade jag, och du hörde min röst. (Sheol h7585)
3 For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
Du kastade mig i djupet, mitt i havet, och strömmen omslöt mig, alla dina svallande böljor gingo över mig.
4 And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
Jag tänkte då: 'Jag är bortdriven ifrån dina ögon.' Men jag skall åter få skåda upp mot ditt heliga tempel.
5 The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
Vatten omvärvde mig in på livet, djupet omslöt mig; sjögräs omsnärjde mitt huvud.
6 To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
Till bergens grund sjönk jag ned, jordens bommar slöto sig bakom mig för evigt. Men du förde min själ upp ur graven, HERRE, min Gud.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
När min själ försmäktade i mig, då tänkte jag på HERREN, och min bön kom till dig, i ditt heliga tempel.
8 They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
De som hålla sig till fåfängliga avgudar, de låta sin nåds Gud fara.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
Men jag vill offra åt dig, med högljudd tacksägelse; vad jag har lovat vill jag infria; frälsningen är hos HERREN!»
10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Och på HERRENS befallning kastade fisken upp Jona på land.
