< Jonah 2 >

1 Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
Na rĩrĩ, Jona arĩ kũu nda ya thamaki ĩyo nene mũno akĩhooya Jehova Ngai wake.
2 And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
Akiuga atĩrĩ: “Ndakaĩire Jehova ndĩ mĩnyamaro-inĩ, nake akĩnjĩtĩka. Ngĩhooya ũteithio ndĩ o kũu mbĩrĩra-inĩ kũrĩa kũriku, nawe ũkĩigua gũkaya gwakwa. (Sheol h7585)
3 For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
Wee wathinĩkanirie nginya kũrĩa kũriku, o gatagatĩ ka iria rĩrĩa inene, naguo mũiyũro wa maaĩ ũgĩĩthiũrũrũkĩria; makũmbĩ maku mothe na ndiihũ cia maaĩ ikĩĩhubanĩria.
4 And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
Ngiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Ndĩ mũingate, ngeherio maitho-inĩ maku; no rĩrĩ, nĩngerorera hekarũ yaku theru hĩndĩ ĩngĩ.’
5 The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
Maaĩ macio maandigiicĩirie makenda kũnjũraga, nakuo kũu kũriku gũgaathiũrũrũkĩria; riya rĩa iria-inĩ rĩeohereire mũtwe wakwa.
6 To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
Ngĩrikĩra o nginya itina-inĩ cia irĩma; thĩ ya kũu rungu ĩkĩĩhingĩrĩria nginya tene. No Wee Jehova, Ngai wakwa, nĩwarutire muoyo wakwa kuuma irima rĩu.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
“Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa muoyo wakwa wathiraga, nĩndakũririkanire Wee Jehova, namo mahooya makwa magĩkinya o harĩwe, o thĩinĩ wa hekarũ yaku theru.
8 They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
“Andũ arĩa mahooyaga mĩhianano ya tũhũ, nĩmoragĩrwo nĩ ũtugi ũrĩa ũngĩkorwo ũrĩ wao.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
No niĩ-rĩ, ndĩrĩkũrutagĩra igongona ngĩinaga rwĩmbo rwa gũcookia ngaatho. Nĩngahingia mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa ĩrĩa niĩ ndanehĩta. Ũhonokio uumaga kũrĩ Jehova.”
10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Nake Jehova agĩatha thamaki ĩyo nene, nayo ĩgĩtahĩka Jona thĩ nyũmũ.
