Jonah 2
1 Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
Ja Joona rukoili Herraa, Jumalaansa, kalan sisässä
2 And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
ja sanoi: "Minä huusin ahdistuksessani Herraa, ja hän vastasi minulle. Tuonelan kohdussa minä huusin apua, ja sinä kuulit minun ääneni. (Sheol h7585)
3 For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
Sinä syöksit minut syvyyteen, merten sydämeen, ja virta ympäröitsi minut, kaikki sinun kuohusi ja aaltosi vyöryivät minun ylitseni.
4 And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
Minä ajattelin: Olen karkoitettu pois sinun silmiesi edestä. Kuitenkin minä saan vielä katsella sinun pyhää temppeliäsi.
5 The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
Vedet piirittivät minut aina sieluun asti, syvyys ympäröitsi minut, kaisla kietoutui päähäni.
6 To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
Minä vajosin alas vuorten perustuksiin asti, maan salvat sulkeutuivat minun ylitseni iankaikkisesti. Mutta sinä nostit minun henkeni ylös haudasta, Herra, minun Jumalani.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
Kun sieluni nääntyi minussa, minä muistin Herraa, ja minun rukoukseni tuli sinun tykösi, sinun pyhään temppeliisi.
8 They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
Ne, jotka kunnioittavat vääriä jumalia, hylkäävät armonantajansa.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
Mutta minä tahdon uhrata sinulle kiitoksen kaikuessa. Mitä olen luvannut, sen minä täytän. Herrassa on pelastus."
10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Sitten Herra käski kalaa, ja se oksensi Joonan kuivalle maalle.
