Jonah 2
1 Then prayed Jonah unto the Lord his God out of the belly of the fish.
I modlil se Jonáš Hospodinu Bohu svému v střevách té ryby,
2 And he said, I called from the midst of my distress unto the Lord, and he hath answered me: out of the depth of the grave have I cried, and thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
A řekl: Z ssoužení svého volal jsem k Hospodinu, a ozval se mi; z břicha hrobu křičel jsem, a vyslyšel jsi hlas můj. (Sheol h7585)
3 For thou hast cast me into the deep, in the heart of the seas; and the stream compasseth me about: all thy billows and thy waves have passed over me.
Nebo jsi mne uvrhl do hlubiny, do prostřed moře, a řeka obklíčila mne; všecka vlnobití tvá i rozvodnění tvá na mne se svalila.
4 And I thought indeed, I am driven out from before thy eyes: yet I again shall look toward thy holy temple.
Bylť jsem již řekl: Vyhnán jsem od očí tvých, ale ještěť pohledím na tvůj svatý chrám.
5 The waters surrounded me, to the peril of my life; the deep compassed me about: sea-weeds were bound about my head.
Obklíčily mne vody až k duši, propast obklíčila mne, lekno otočilo se okolo hlavy mé.
6 To the bottoms of the mountains did I go down; the earth [closed] her bars about me for ever: when thou broughtest up my life from the pit, O Lord my God!
Až k spodkům hor dostal jsem se, země závorami svými zalehla mi na věčnost, ty jsi však vysvobodil od porušení život můj, ó Hospodine Bože můj.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came unto thee, unto thy holy temple.
Když se svírala ve mně duše má, na Hospodina jsem se rozpomínal, i přišla k tobě modlitba má do chrámu svatého tvého.
8 They that guard false vanities forsake [the source of] their kindness.
Kteříž ostříhají marností pouhých, dobroty Boží se zbavují.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed will I pay; [for] help is with the Lord.
Já pak s hlasem díkčinění obětovati budu tobě; což jsem slíbil, splním. Hojné vysvobození jest u Hospodina.
10 And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
Rozkázal pak byl Hospodin rybě té, i vyvrátila Jonáše na břeh.
