Job 9
1 Then answered Job, and said,
१मग ईयोब उत्तर देऊन म्हणाला,
2 Truly I know that it is so: and how could a mortal be righteous before God?
२“तू जे काही म्हणत आहेस ते खरे असल्याची जाणीव मला आहे, परंतु देवापुढे मनुष्य कसा बरोबर ठरेल?
3 If he were desirous to enter into a contest with him, he could not give him one answer out of a thousand.
३मनुष्य देवाशी वाद घालू शकत नाही. देव हजार प्रश्न विचारु शकतो आणि मनुष्यास त्याच्या एकाही प्रश्नाचे उत्तर देता येत नाही.
4 He is wise of heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and escaped unscathed?
४देव खूप विद्वान आहे आणि त्याची शक्ती अमर्याद आहे. देवाचे मन कठीण करून कोण निभावेल?
5 [He it is] who removeth mountains, and they know it not, yea, when he overturneth them in his anger;
५तो क्रोधित झाला की पर्वत हलवतो आणि लोकांस ते कळत देखील नाही.
6 Who shaketh the earth loose out of her place, that her pillars tremble;
६तो पृथ्वीचा थरकाप करण्यासाठी भूकंप पाठवतो. आणि पृथ्वीचा पायाच हलवून टाकतो.
7 Who speaketh to the sun, and he shineth not, and around the stars he placeth a seal;
७तोच तो देव आहे, जो सूर्याला उगवू नये म्हणून सांगतो आणि तो उगवत नाही, आणि ताऱ्यांनी चमकू नये म्हणून तो लपवून ठेवतो.
8 Who spread out the heavens by himself alone, and treadeth upon the hillocks of the sea;
८त्याने एकट्याने आकाश निर्माण केले. तो सागराच्या लाटांवर चालतो.
9 Who made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers the south;
९देवाने सप्तर्षि, मृगश्रीष व कृत्तिका यांना निर्माण केले. दक्षिणेकडचे आकाश ओलांडणारे ग्रहही त्यानेच निर्माण केले.
10 Who doth great things which are quite unsearchable, and wonders which are quite without number.
१०तोच देव आहे ज्याने आश्यर्यकारक अनाकलनीय गोष्टीही निर्मिल्या. खरोखरच देवाच्या अद्भुत कृत्यांची सीमा नाही.
11 Lo, were he to go past by me, I should not see him; and were he to pass along, I should not perceive him.
११पाहा, देव जेव्हा माझ्या जवळून जातो तेव्हा मी त्यास बघू शकत नाही. तो जातो तरी त्याची महानता मला समजत नाही.
12 Behold, were he to snatch aught away, who could hold him back? who would say unto him, What dost thou?
१२देवाने जरी काही घेतले तरी त्यास कोणीही अडवू शकत नाही. तू काय करीत आहेस? असे त्यास कोणी विचारु शकत नाही.
13 God will not withdraw his anger: beneath him sink down the helpers of the proud.
१३देव त्याचा क्रोध काबूत ठेवणार नाही. राहाबाचे मदतनीससुध्दा त्यास घाबरतात.
14 How much less then could I answer him, and select my words [to contend] with him?
१४म्हणून मी देवाशी वाद घालू शकत नाही. त्याच्याशी काय बोलावे ते मला सुचणार नाही.
15 Whom, were I even righteous, I could not answer? to him that condemneth me I could [only] make supplication.
१५मी निष्पाप आहे, पण मी त्यास उत्तर देऊ शकणार नाही. मी केवळ माझ्या देवाची कृपादृष्टी मिळावी म्हणून याचना करु शकतो.
16 Or were I to call, and he would answer me, I could yet not believe that he would give ear unto my voice—
१६मी हाक मारल्यानंतर त्याने उत्तर दिले असते. तरी त्याने माझे ऐकलेच अशी माझी खात्री झाली नसती.
17 He that bruiseth me with [his] tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without a cause.
१७तो मला चिरडण्यासाठी वादळे पाठवील. आणि काहीही कारण नसता तो मला जखमा देईल.
18 He suffereth me not to recover my breath; but feedeth me overmuch with bitter things.
१८तो मला माझा श्वास परत घेऊ देणार नाही. म्हणून तो मला अधिक कष्ट देईल.
19 If it regard strength, lo, he is the powerful; and if justice, who will cite him for me to appear?
१९कोण शक्तीमान आहे जर आपण बोलतो तर देव सर्वशक्तिमान आहे, आणि जर आपण न्याया विषयी बोलतो, तर त्यास न्यायालयात कोणी आणू शकेल काय?
20 If I were righteous even, my own mouth would condemn me: were I innocent, it would still prove me perverse.
२०मी धर्मी जरी असलो, माझेच मुख मला अपराधी बनवते. मी परिपूर्ण जरी असलो, तरी पण माझे बोलणेच माझी अपूर्णता प्रमाणीत करते.
21 I am innocent; I will not have regard for myself: I will despise my life.
२१मी निष्पाप आहे, पण काय विचार करावा ते मला कळत नाही. मी माझ्याच आयुष्याचा धिक्कार करतो.
22 One thing is [certain], therefore have I said it, The innocent and the wicked he bringeth to their end.
२२मी स्वत: शीच म्हणतो: सगळ्याच्याच बाबतीत हे घडते. पापी लोकांसारखेच निष्पाप लोकही मरतात. देवच सगळ्यांचे जीवन संपवतो.
23 If a scourge should slay suddenly, he will mock at the trial of the guiltless.
२३काहीतरी भयानक घडते आणि निष्पाप मनुष्य मरतो तेव्हा देव त्यास फक्त हसतो का?
24 Is a land given up into the hand of the wicked? he covereth the faces of its judges: if this be not the truth, who is it then?
२४जेव्हा एखादा वाईट मनुष्य सत्ता बळकावतो तेव्हा जे घडते आहे ते बघण्यापासून देव पुढाऱ्यांना दूर ठेवतो जर नाही, तर तो कोण आहे जो असे करतो?
25 And my days pass swifter than a runner: they flee away, they see no happiness,
२५माझे दिवस एखाद्या धावपटू पेक्षाही वेगाने धावतात. माझे दिवस उडून जातात, त्यामध्ये कुठेही सुख दिसत नाही.
26 They hasten along like pirate ships: like the eagle that stoopeth down upon his food.
२६लव्हाळाची बनवलेली बोट जशी वेगात जाते तसे माझे दिवस वेगात सरतात. गरुडाने आपल्या भक्ष्यावर झडप घालावी त्याप्रमाणे माझे दिवस अतिशय वेगात जातात.
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my sorrowful countenance, and recover my cheerfulness:
२७मी जरी म्हणालो, की माझे दु: ख विसरेन, मी चेहऱ्यावर हास्य आणेन, मी तक्रार करणार नाही. आणि आनंदी होईल.
28 O then would I be in dread of all my pains; I know that thou wilt not declare me innocent.
२८मला माझा दु: खाचे भय वाटायला हवे. कारण मला माहित आहे, निर्दोष गनणार नाहीस.
29 I must ever be guilty: why then should I fatigue myself for nought?
२९मी आधीच अपराधी ठरवला गेलो आहे. मग प्रयत्न तरी कशाला करायचे?
30 If I were to wash myself in snow-water, to cleanse myself in the purity of my hands:
३०मी माझे अंग बर्फाने धुतले आणि हात साबणाने स्वच्छ केले.
31 Even then wouldst thou plunge me in the ditch, that my own clothes would render me abhorred.
३१तरीही देव मला घाणीच्या खड्ड्यात ढकलेल. नंतर माझे स्वत: चे कपडे देखील माझा तिरस्कार करतील.
32 For he is not a man, like me, that I could answer him, that we should enter together into a contest.
३२देव माझ्यासारखा मनुष्य नाही. म्हणूनच मी त्यास उत्तर देऊ शकत नाही. आम्ही न्यायालयात एकमेकांना भेटू शकणार नाही.
33 There is no one who can decide between us, who could lay his hand upon us both.
३३आमच्यात कोणी असा न्यायाधीश नाही. जो आम्हा दोघांना सारख्याच न्यायाने तोलेल.
34 Let him but remove from me his rod, and let not his dread terrify me:
३४देवाच्या शिक्षेची छडी माझ्यापासून दूर करणारा कोणी न्यायाधीश नाही त्याच्या धाकामुळे मला भयभीत होण्यापासून वाचवणारा कोणी नाही.
35 Then would I speak, and not fear him; for the like I feel not within me.
३५असे जर झाले तर देवाला न घाबरता मला जे काही म्हणायचे आहे ते मी म्हणू शकेन. परंतु आता मात्र मी तसे करु शकत नाही.”
