Job 8
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuchite, and said,
Und Bildad, der Schuchiter, antwortete und sprach:
2 How long wilt thou speak these things? and [let] like a mighty wind be the words of thy mouth?
Wie lange willst du solches reden, und sollen die Worte deines Mundes ungestümer Wind sein?
3 Should God pervert justice? or should the Almighty pervert righteousness?
Wird Gott [El] das Recht beugen, oder wird der Allmächtige beugen die Gerechtigkeit?
4 If thy children have sinned against him, then did he send them off through the means of their transgression.
Wenn deine Kinder gegen ihn gesündigt haben, so gab er sie ihrer Übertretung preis.
5 If thou wilt earnestly seek for God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
Wenn du Gott [El] eifrig suchst und zu dem Allmächtigen um Gnade flehst,
6 If thou become pure and upright: surely then will he watch over thee, and restore thy righteous habitation.
wenn du lauter und rechtschaffen bist, ja, dann wird er zu deinen Gunsten aufwachen und Wohlfahrt geben der Wohnung deiner Gerechtigkeit;
7 And thy beginning will have been small; because thy latter end will grow up greatly.
und dein Anfang wird gering erscheinen, aber dein Ende sehr groß werden.
8 For ask, I pray thee, of an earlier generation, and prepare thyself to [stand by] the research of their fathers; —
Denn befrage doch das vorige Geschlecht, und richte deinen Sinn auf das, was ihre Väter erforscht haben.
9 For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because a [mere] shadow are our days upon earth; —
[Denn wir sind von gestern und wissen nichts, denn ein Schatten sind unsere Tage auf Erden.]
10 Behold, these will truly teach thee, they will speak unto thee, and out of their very heart will they bring forth words:
Werden jene dich nicht belehren, dirs sagen, und Worte aus ihrem Herzen hervorbringen?
11 Can the bulrush shoot upward without mire? can the meadow-grass grow up without water?
Schießt Papierschilf auf, wo kein Sumpf ist? wächst Riedgras empor ohne Wasser?
12 It is yet in its greenness, not yet cut down, when it withereth before any other grass.
Noch ist es am Grünen, wird nicht ausgerauft, so verdorrt es vor allem Grase.
13 So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hope of the hypocrite will perish:
Also sind die Pfade aller, die Gottes [El] vergessen; und des Ruchlosen Hoffnung geht zu Grunde.
14 [It is he] whose trust will be cut off, and but a spider's web is that in which he confideth.
Sein Vertrauen wird abgeschnitten [Eig. dessen Vertrauen abgeschnitten wird usw., ] und seine Zuversicht ist ein Spinnengewebe.
15 He leaneth against his house, but it shall not stand: he layeth fast hold on it, but it shall not remain erect.
Er stützt sich auf sein Haus, und es hält nicht stand; er hält sich daran fest, und es bleibt nicht aufrecht. -
16 He is in full vigor before the sun, and over his garden his shoots go forth.
Saftvoll ist er vor der Sonne, und seine Schößlinge dehnen sich aus über seinen Garten hin;
17 His roots are twisted about a stoneheap, he selecteth [for himself] a place of stones.
über Steinhaufen schlingen sich seine Wurzeln, er schaut die [O. drängt sich hindurch in die] Wohnung der Steine;
18 But when men destroy him from his place, then will it deny him, saying, I have never seen thee.
wenn er [d. h. Gott] ihn wegreißt von seiner Stätte, so verleugnet sie ihn: "Ich habe dich nie gesehen!"
19 Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the [same] dust others will grow up.
Siehe, das ist die Freude seines Weges; und aus dem Staube sprossen andere hervor.
20 Behold, God will not reject a perfect man, and will not hold fast by their hand the evil-doers:
Siehe, Gott [El] wird den Vollkommenen [S. die Anm. zu Kap. 1,1] nicht verwerfen, und nicht bei der Hand fassen die Übeltäter.
21 Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with joyful shouting.
Während er deinen Mund mit Lachen füllen wird und deine Lippen mit Jubelschall,
22 They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
werden deine Hasser bekleidet werden mit Scham, und das Zelt der Gesetzlosen wird nicht mehr sein.
