Job 40
1 And the Lord addressed Job, and said,
Moreover Yahweh respondeu Job,
2 Will he that contendeth with the Almighty yet find fault? him that reproveth God answer this.
“Será que aquele que argumenta deve contender com o Todo-Poderoso? Aquele que discute com Deus, deixe-o responder”.
3 Then answered Job the Lord, and said,
Então Job respondeu Yahweh,
4 Behold, I am too vile: what shall I answer thee? my hand do I place on my mouth.
“Eis que eu sou de pequena conta. O que lhe responderei? Eu coloco minha mão sobre minha boca.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will not repeat it again.
Já falei uma vez e não vou responder; Sim, duas vezes, mas não prosseguirei”.
6 Then answered the Lord unto Job out of the storm-wind, and said,
Então Yahweh respondeu Job fora do redemoinho:
7 Do but gird up like a mighty man thy loins: I will ask thee, and do thou inform me.
“Agora prepare-se como um homem. Eu o questionarei, e você me responderá.
8 Wilt thou indeed annul my decree? wilt thou condemn me, in order that thou mayest appear righteous?
Você vai ao menos anular meu julgamento? Vai me condenar, para que possa ser justificado?
9 But if thou hast an arm like God, or if thou canst thunder loudly like him:
Ou você tem um braço como Deus? Você pode trovejar com uma voz como ele?
10 Then do deck thyself with excellence and greatness, and clothe thyself in majesty and glory.
“Agora se enfeita com excelência e dignidade. Arraigar-se com honra e majestade.
11 Scatter abroad the ragings of thy wrath, and look on every proud one, and humble him.
Pour para fora da fúria de sua raiva. Olhe para todos que se orgulham, e o traga para baixo.
12 Look on every proud one, and bend him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Olhe para todos que se orgulham e o humilhem. Esmagar os ímpios em seu lugar.
13 Hide them in the dust altogether: bind up their faces in concealment.
Escondê-los juntos na poeira. Amarrar seus rostos no lugar escondido.
14 Then will I also myself praise thee, when thy own right hand hath helped thee.
Então eu também admitirei a você que sua própria mão direita pode salvá-lo.
15 Only behold Behemoth, which I made near thee: grass he eateth like the ox.
“Veja agora behemoth, que eu fiz tão bem quanto você. Ele come grama como um boi.
16 Only see, [how great] is his strength in his loins, and his force, in the muscles of his belly.
Veja agora, sua força está em suas coxas. Sua força está nos músculos de sua barriga.
17 He stretcheth out his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his loins are closely wrapped together.
Ele move sua cauda como um cedro. Os nervos de suas coxas são tricotados.
18 His bones are like pipes of brass: his frame is like bars of iron.
His os ossos são como tubos de bronze. Seus membros são como barras de ferro.
19 He is the first in rank of the works of God: he that made him can alone bring his sword near unto him.
Ele é o chefe dos caminhos de Deus. Aquele que o fez dá-lhe sua espada.
20 But truly the mountains bear for him his food, and all the beasts of the field play there.
Certamente, as montanhas produzem alimentos para ele, onde todos os animais do campo brincam.
21 Under shady trees he lieth down, in the covert of the reeds, and swamp.
Ele está deitado sob as árvores de lótus, na coberta da palheta, e no pântano.
22 Shady trees cover him as his shadow: willows of the brook encompass him about.
Os lótus o cobrem com sua sombra. Os salgueiros do riacho o cercam.
23 Behold, a river sweepeth violently along, but he hasteneth not away: he remaineth quiet, though a Jordan rusheth up to his mouth.
Veja, se um rio transborda, ele não treme. Ele está confiante, embora o Jordão incha até a boca.
24 Can one catch him before his eyes? pierce his nose by means of snares?—
Shall qualquer um o pegue quando ele estiver no turno, ou furar-lhe o nariz com uma armadilha?
