Job 35
1 Then commenced Elihu, and said,
Und wieder hob Elihu an und sprach:
2 Dost thou deem this to be just, that thou hast said, “My righteousness is more than God's?”
"Ja, hältst du das für Recht und meinst du das mit 'meinem Rechthaben vor Gott'?
3 For thou sayest, “What benefit will it be unto thee? what more profit shall I have, than if I had sinned?”
Du sagst: 'Was nützt es Dir? Was nützt es mir, wenn ich nicht sündige?'
4 I will truly reply unto thee with words, and unto thy friends with thee.
Ich will dir drauf die Antwort geben und deinen Freunden hier bei dir.
5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and gaze on the skies which are higher than thou.
Schau auf zum Himmel; sieh! Blick zu den hohen Wolken über dir empor!
6 If thou sin, what dost thou effect against him? and if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?
Du hast gesündigt. Was tust du ihm damit? Sind deiner Sünden noch so viel, was machst du ihm damit?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what doth he accept out of thy hand?
Und bist du fromm, was schenkst du ihm? Was nur empfängt er da aus deiner Hand?
8 A man like thyself thy wickedness may reach, and a son of earth thy righteousness.
Doch deinesgleichen geht dein Frevel an, die Menschenkinder deine Frömmigkeit.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions [the wicked] cause men to cry: these complain aloud because of the arm of the mighty.
Man schreit wohl über der Bedrückung Menge, führt Klage ob der Großen Macht.
10 But [man] saith not, Where is God my maker, who bestoweth joyful songs even in the night;
Doch niemand fragt: 'Wo bleibt da Gott, mein Schöpfer, der in der Nachtzeit spricht,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of the heavens?
der vor des Feldes Tieren uns belehrt, uns vor des Himmels Vögeln Weisheit schenkt?'
12 There do they cry, but he answereth not: because of the pride of evil men.
Dann schreit man ob des Übermuts der Bösen; doch er schenkt kein Gehör.
13 Only what is false will God not hear, nor will the Almighty regard it.
Zu nichts führt es, so sagst du, nimmer höre Gott, und der Allmächtige seh' dies Treiben nicht,
14 Although thou sayest, thou canst not see him: yet the decision is before him; and do thou wait for him.
zumal du sagst, du könnest ihn nicht sehen; der Streitfall liege ihm zwar vor, du aber müßtest immer auf ihn warten,
15 But now, because his anger hath punished nothing, shall he not greatly take cognizance of the multitude of sins?
und weil er sich nicht zeige, so strafe er im Zorne; er wolle nichts von Urteil wissen.
16 But Job openeth wide his mouth for nought: without knowledge he heapeth up words.
Da redet Job denn doch gar unvernünftig; er macht viel Redens ohne Einsicht."
