Job 34
1 And Elihu commenced, and said,
Och Elihu svarade, och sade:
2 Hear, O ye wise men, my words; and ye that have knowledge, give ear unto me.
Hörer, I vise, mitt tal, och I förståndige, akter på mig;
3 For the ear proveth words, as the palate tasteth the food.
Ty örat pröfvar talet, och munnen smakar maten.
4 Let us choose for ourselves what is just: let us acknowledge between ourselves what is good.
Låt oss utvälja en dom, att vi måge emellan oss känna hvad godt är.
5 For Job hath said, “I am righteous; and God hath taken away justice from me.
Ty Job hafver sagt: Jag är rättfärdig, och Gud hafver förvägrat mig min rätt.
6 Should I lie concerning the justice due me? incurable is [my wound from] the arrow I bear in me without any transgression.”
Jag måste ljuga, om jag än rätt hade; jag varder plågad af min skott, om jag än det intet förskyllat hade.
7 What man is there like Job, who drinketh scorning like water,
Ho är en sådana, som Job; som gabberi dricker såsom vatten,
8 And is on the road to keep company with the wrong-doers, and to walk with men of wickedness?
Och går på vägenom med illgerningsmän, så att han vandrar med ogudaktiga män?
9 For he hath said, “It profiteth a man nothing when he acteth according to the pleasure of God.”
Ty han hafver sagt: Om än någor rätt färdig vore, så gäller han dock intet när Gudi.
10 Therefore ye men of sense hearken unto me: far is it from God to practise wickedness; and from the Almighty to do wrong!
Hörer mig, I vise män: Bort det, att Gud skulle vara ogudaktig, och den Allsmägtige orättvis;
11 For the work of a son of earth doth he recompense unto him, and according to the path of man doth he permit things to occur to him.
Utan han lönar menniskone, efter som hon hafver förtjent; och drabbar uppå hvar och en efter hans gerningar.
12 Yea, surely God will not condemn unjustly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice.
Utan tvifvel, Gud fördömer ingen med orätt, och den Allsmägtige böjer icke rätten.
13 Who hath given him a charge concerning the earth? or who hath intrusted [him] the whole world?
Ho hafver skickat det uppå jordene är, och ho hafver satt hela jordenes krets?
14 If he were to set his heart upon man, he would gather unto himself his spirit and his breath:
Om han det toge sig före, kunde han allas anda och lif till sig samla;
15 All flesh would perish together, and the son of earth would return again unto dust.
Allt kött vorde tillhopa förgåendes, och menniskan vorde åter till asko igen.
16 If then thou wishest to understand, hear this: give ear to the sound of my words.
Hafver du förstånd, så hör detta, och gif akt på mins tals röst.
17 Is it possible that he who hateth justice should govern? or wilt thou condemn the righteous mighty One?
Skulle någon fördenskull tvinga rätten, att han hatar honom? Och derföre att du stolt äst, skulle du fördenskull fördöma den rättfärdiga?
18 [Is it fit] to say to a king, Thou art worthless? and to princes, Ye are wicked?
Skulle någor säga till Konungen: Du Belial? och till Förstarna: I ogudaktige?
19 Whereas he is one that showeth no favor to chieftains, and distinguisheth not the rich before the indigent; for all of them are the work of his hands.
Den dock icke ser på Förstarnas person, och känner icke mer den härliga än den fattiga; förty de äro alle hans handaverk.
20 In a moment will they die, and in the midst of the night; people are moved, and pass away: and the mighty will be removed without a human hand.
Med hast måste menniskorna dö, och om midnattstid förskräckas och förgås; de mägtige varda kraftlöse borttagne.
21 For big eyes are upon the ways of man, and all his steps doth he see.
Ty hans ögon se uppå hvars och ens vägar, och han skådar alla deras gånger.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the evil-doers can hide themselves.
Intet mörker eller skygd är, att ogerningsmän måga sig der fördölja;
23 For he need not direct [his attention] a long time upon man, that he should enter into judgment before God.
Ty det varder ingom tillstadt, att han kommer med Gud till rätta.
24 He breaketh down mighty men without [long] searching, and placeth others in their stead.
Han förgör många stolta, som icke stå till att räkna; och sätter andra i deras stad;
25 For the reason that he knoweth their deeds: therefore he overturneth them in the night, and they are crushed.
Derföre, att han känner deras gerningar; och omstörter dem om nattena, att de skola sönderkrossade varda.
26 Among wicked men doth he strike them, in the place where [many] see them:
Han kastar de ogudaktiga uti en hop, der man gerna ser det;
27 Because they have departed from following him, and have not considered all his ways.
Derföre, att de icke hafva följt honom efter, och förstodo ingen af hans vägar;
28 Bringing before them the cry of the indigent, and the cry of the afflicted which he had to hear.
Att de fattigas rop skulle komma inför honom, och han dens eländas rop höra måtte.
29 When he now granteth rest, who will condemn [him]! and when he hideth his face, who can behold him? whether it be against a nation, or against one man, it is the same:
Om han frid gifver, ho vill fördöma? Och om han förskyler anletet, ho vill se uppå honom ibland folken och menniskorna?
30 That no hypocritical man may reign, that such shall not be a mare to the people.
Så låter han nu en skrymtare regera, till att plåga folket.
31 For truly it is only fitting to say unto God, “I bear [cheerfully], I will not do any wrong;
För Guds skull vill jag lida talet, och icke förmenat.
32 What I cannot see myself, do thou truly teach me; if I have done what is unjust, I will do so no more.”
Hafver jag icke drabbat rätt, lär du mig bättre; hafver jag orätt handlat, vill jag icke göra så mer.
33 Should he then according to thy view send a recompense, because thou hast rejected him? “Because thou must choose, and not I?” and what thou knowest, do speak.
Man vänter nu svar af dig; ty du förkastar all ting, och du hafver begynt det, och icke jag. Vetst du nu något, så tala.
34 Men of sense will say unto me, and every wise man who heareth me,
Visa män låter jag väl tala, och en vis man hörer mig.
35 That Job hath not spoken with knowledge, and that his words are without intelligence.
Men Job talar ovisliga, och hans ord äro icke vis.
36 Oh that Job may therefore be probed continually, in order to give answers against sinful men.
Min Fader, låt Job försökt varda allt intill ändan, derföre att han vänder sig till orättfärdiga menniskor.
37 For he addeth unto his sin transgression: among us he uttereth too many loud words, and multiplieth his speeches against God.
Han hafver utöfver sina synd ännu dertill hädat; derföre låt honom inför oss slagen varda; och träte sedan med sinom ordom inför Gud.
