Job 34
1 And Elihu commenced, and said,
Además, Eliú respondió,
2 Hear, O ye wise men, my words; and ye that have knowledge, give ear unto me.
“Escuchad mis palabras, sabios. Escúchame, tú que tienes conocimiento.
3 For the ear proveth words, as the palate tasteth the food.
Porque el oído prueba las palabras, como el paladar prueba la comida.
4 Let us choose for ourselves what is just: let us acknowledge between ourselves what is good.
Escojamos para nosotros lo que es correcto. Conozcamos entre nosotros lo que es bueno.
5 For Job hath said, “I am righteous; and God hath taken away justice from me.
Porque Job ha dicho: “Soy justo”, Dios me ha quitado el derecho.
6 Should I lie concerning the justice due me? incurable is [my wound from] the arrow I bear in me without any transgression.”
A pesar de mi derecho se me considera un mentiroso. Mi herida es incurable, aunque estoy sin desobediencia’.
7 What man is there like Job, who drinketh scorning like water,
Qué hombre es como Job, que bebe el desprecio como el agua,
8 And is on the road to keep company with the wrong-doers, and to walk with men of wickedness?
que va en compañía de los obreros de la iniquidad, y camina con los hombres malvados?
9 For he hath said, “It profiteth a man nothing when he acteth according to the pleasure of God.”
Porque él ha dicho: “De nada le sirve al hombre para que se deleite con Dios”.
10 Therefore ye men of sense hearken unto me: far is it from God to practise wickedness; and from the Almighty to do wrong!
“Por tanto, escuchadme, hombres de entendimiento: lejos de Dios, que haga la maldad, del Todopoderoso, para que cometa iniquidad.
11 For the work of a son of earth doth he recompense unto him, and according to the path of man doth he permit things to occur to him.
Porque el trabajo de un hombre se lo devolverá, y haz que cada uno encuentre según sus caminos.
12 Yea, surely God will not condemn unjustly, nor will the Almighty pervert justice.
Sí, ciertamente, Dios no hará maldad, ni el Todopoderoso pervertirá la justicia.
13 Who hath given him a charge concerning the earth? or who hath intrusted [him] the whole world?
¿Quién lo puso a cargo de la tierra? ¿O quién lo ha designado sobre el mundo entero?
14 If he were to set his heart upon man, he would gather unto himself his spirit and his breath:
Si pone su corazón en sí mismo, si reuniera para sí su espíritu y su aliento,
15 All flesh would perish together, and the son of earth would return again unto dust.
toda la carne perecería junta, y el hombre volvería a convertirse en polvo.
16 If then thou wishest to understand, hear this: give ear to the sound of my words.
“Si ahora tienes entendimiento, escucha esto. Escucha la voz de mis palabras.
17 Is it possible that he who hateth justice should govern? or wilt thou condemn the righteous mighty One?
¿Debe gobernar incluso quien odia la justicia? ¿Condenarás al que es justo y poderoso,
18 [Is it fit] to say to a king, Thou art worthless? and to princes, Ye are wicked?
que dice a un rey: “¡Vil! o a los nobles, “¡malvados!”?
19 Whereas he is one that showeth no favor to chieftains, and distinguisheth not the rich before the indigent; for all of them are the work of his hands.
No respeta las personas de los príncipes, ni respetar a los ricos más que a los pobres, porque todos son obra de sus manos.
20 In a moment will they die, and in the midst of the night; people are moved, and pass away: and the mighty will be removed without a human hand.
En un momento mueren, incluso a medianoche. El pueblo se estremece y fallece. A los poderosos se les quita la mano.
21 For big eyes are upon the ways of man, and all his steps doth he see.
“Porque sus ojos están en los caminos del hombre. Él ve todas sus salidas.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the evil-doers can hide themselves.
No hay oscuridad, ni tinieblas espesas, donde los obreros de la iniquidad pueden esconderse.
23 For he need not direct [his attention] a long time upon man, that he should enter into judgment before God.
Porque no necesita considerar más a un hombre, que debe ir ante Dios en el juicio.
24 He breaketh down mighty men without [long] searching, and placeth others in their stead.
El rompe en pedazos a los hombres poderosos de una manera que no se puede descubrir, y pone a otros en su lugar.
25 For the reason that he knoweth their deeds: therefore he overturneth them in the night, and they are crushed.
Por eso toma conocimiento de sus obras. Él los derriba en la noche, para que sean destruidos.
26 Among wicked men doth he strike them, in the place where [many] see them:
Los golpea como hombres malvados a la vista de los demás;
27 Because they have departed from following him, and have not considered all his ways.
porque se apartaron de seguirlo, y no prestaba atención a ninguna de sus formas,
28 Bringing before them the cry of the indigent, and the cry of the afflicted which he had to hear.
de modo que hicieron llegar a él el clamor de los pobres. Oyó el clamor de los afligidos.
29 When he now granteth rest, who will condemn [him]! and when he hideth his face, who can behold him? whether it be against a nation, or against one man, it is the same:
Cuando da tranquilidad, ¿quién puede entonces condenar? Cuando esconde su rostro, ¿quién puede verlo entonces? Está sobre una nación o un hombre por igual,
30 That no hypocritical man may reign, that such shall not be a mare to the people.
para que no reine el hombre impío, para que no haya nadie que engañe al pueblo.
31 For truly it is only fitting to say unto God, “I bear [cheerfully], I will not do any wrong;
“Porque ¿ha dicho alguno a Dios, ‘Soy culpable, pero no ofenderé más.
32 What I cannot see myself, do thou truly teach me; if I have done what is unjust, I will do so no more.”
Enséñame lo que no veo. Si he hecho iniquidad, no la haré más’?
33 Should he then according to thy view send a recompense, because thou hast rejected him? “Because thou must choose, and not I?” and what thou knowest, do speak.
¿Será su recompensa como deseas, que la rechaces? Porque tú debes elegir, y no yo. Por lo tanto, habla de lo que sabes.
34 Men of sense will say unto me, and every wise man who heareth me,
Los hombres de entendimiento me dirán, sí, todo sabio que me escuche:
35 That Job hath not spoken with knowledge, and that his words are without intelligence.
“Job habla sin conocimiento. Sus palabras carecen de sabiduría”.
36 Oh that Job may therefore be probed continually, in order to give answers against sinful men.
Deseo que Job sea juzgado hasta el final, a causa de su respuesta como hombres malvados.
37 For he addeth unto his sin transgression: among us he uttereth too many loud words, and multiplieth his speeches against God.
Porque añade la rebelión a su pecado. Aplaude entre nosotros, y multiplica sus palabras contra Dios”.
