Job 33
1 Therefore do thou but hear, O Job, my speeches, and give ear to all my words.
Höre doch, Hiob, meine Rede und merke auf alle meine Worte!
2 Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my mouth.
Siehe, ich tue meinen Mund auf, und meine Zunge redet in meinem Munde.
3 Out of my straightforward heart [come] my sayings, and my lips utter knowledge clearly.
Mein Herz soll recht reden, und meine Lippen sollen den reinen Verstand sagen.
4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty giveth me life.
Der Geist Gottes hat mich gemacht, und der Odem des Allmächtigen hat mir das Leben gegeben.
5 If thou canst, answer me, array thyself before me, stand forward.
Kannst du, so antworte mir; schicke dich gegen mich und stelle dich!
6 Behold, I am in the same relation as thyself toward God: I myself also am cut out of the clay.
Siehe ich bin Gottes ebensowohl als du, und aus Leimen bin ich auch gemacht.
7 Behold, dread of me cannot terrify thee, and my pressure will not be too heavy upon thee.
Doch du darfst vor mir nicht erschrecken, und meine Hand soll dir nicht zu schwer sein.
8 But thou hast said before my ears, and the sound of the words I still hear,
Du hast geredet vor meinen Ohren, die Stimme deiner Rede mußte ich hören:
9 “I am pure without transgression, I am quite clean; and there is no iniquity in me:
Ich bin rein, ohne Missetat, unschuldig und habe keine Sünde.
10 Yet, behold, he findeth hateful backsliding on me, he regardeth me as an enemy unto him;
Siehe, er hat eine Sache wider mich funden, darum achtet er mich für seinen Feind.
11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he watcheth all my paths.”
Er hat meinen Fuß in Stock gelegt und hat alle meine Wege verwahret.
12 Behold, In this thou art not just: I will answer thee; for God is far greater than a mortal.
Siehe, eben daraus schließe ich wider dich, daß du nicht recht bist; denn Gott ist mehr weder ein Mensch.
13 Why dost thou contend against him? for with all his words will he not give an answer.
Warum willst du mit ihm zanken, daß er dir nicht Rechenschaft gibt alles seines Tuns?
14 For God speaketh once, yea twice: [yet man] regardeth it not.
Denn wenn Gott einmal etwas beschließt, so bedenket er's nicht erst her nach.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumbers upon the couch:
Im Traum des Gesichts in der Nacht, wenn der Schlaf auf die Leute fällt, wenn sie schlafen auf dem Bette,
16 Then doth he lay open the ear of men, and sealeth it with their warning;
da öffnet er das Ohr der Leute und schreckt sie und züchtiget sie,
17 To remove the son of earth [from his intended] deed and he covereth up pride from man;
daß er den Menschen von seinem Vorhaben wende und beschirme ihn vor Hoffart.
18 He withholdeth his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.
Und verschonet seiner Seele vor dem Verderben und seines Lebens, daß es nicht ins Schwert falle.
19 And so is he admonished by pain upon his couch, and all his bones with violent [aches].
Er straft ihn mit Schmerzen auf seinem Bette und alle seine Gebeine heftig;
20 So that his inclination abhorreth bread, and his soul, the most agreeable food.
und richtet ihm sein Leben so zu, daß ihm vor der Speise ekelt, und seine Seele, daß sie nicht Lust zu essen hat.
21 His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen, and his bones that were not seen stick out.
Sein Fleisch verschwindet, daß er nicht wohl sehen mag, und seine Beine werden zerschlagen, daß man sie nicht gerne ansiehet,
22 Yea, his soul draweth near unto the pit, and his life to those that slay.
daß seine Seele nahet zum Verderben und sein Leben zu den Toten.
23 If there be now about him one single angel, as defender, one out of a thousand, to tell for man his uprightness:
So dann ein Engel, einer aus tausend, mit ihm redet, zu verkündigen dem Menschen, wie er solle recht tun,
24 Then is he gracious unto him, and saith, Release him from going down to the pit, I have found an atonement.
so wird er ihm gnädig sein und sagen: Er soll erlöset werden, daß er nicht hinunterfahre ins Verderben; denn ich habe eine Versöhnung funden.
25 His flesh becometh full again as in youth: he returneth to the days of his boyhood.
Sein Fleisch grüne wieder wie in der Jugend, und laß ihn wieder jung werden.
26 He will offer his entreaty unto God, and he will receive him in favor, that he may see his face with joy: so doth He recompense unto the mortal his righteousness.
Er wird Gott bitten; der wird ihm Gnade erzeigen und wird sein Antlitz sehen lassen mit Freuden und wird dem Menschen nach seiner Gerechtigkeit vergelten.
27 He then should assemble men around, and say, “I had sinned, and perverted what is right, yet have I not received a like return.”
Er wird vor den Leuten bekennen und sagen: Ich wollte gesündiget und das Recht verkehret haben, aber es hätte mir nichts genützet.
28 Thus he redeemeth his soul from passing into the pit, and his life will look joyously on the light.
Er hat meine Seele erlöset, daß sie nicht führe ins Verderben, sondern mein Leben das Licht sähe.
29 Lo, all these things doth God two or three times with man;
Siehe, das alles tut Gott zwei oder dreimal mit einem jeglichen,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, that she may shine in the light of life.
daß er seine Seele herumhole aus dem Verderben und erleuchte ihn mit dem Licht der Lebendigen.
31 Listen well, O Job, hearken unto me: keep silence, and I will truly speak.
Merke auf, Hiob, und höre mir zu, und schweige, daß ich rede!
32 If thou hast any words, answer me: speak, for I wish to justify thee.
Hast du aber was zu sagen, so antworte mir; sage her, bist du recht, ich will's gerne hören.
33 If not, hearken thou unto me: keep silence, and I will teach thee wisdom.
Hast du aber nichts, so höre mir zu und schweige, ich will dich die Weisheit lehren.
