Job 31
1 A covenant had I made with my eyes: how then should I fix my look on a virgin?
௧என் கண்களுடன் உடன்படிக்கைசெய்த நான் ஒரு கன்னிகையின்மேல் நினைவாக இருப்பதெப்படி?
2 And what then would have been my portion of God from above? and what lot of the Almighty from on high?
௨அப்பொழுது உன்னதங்களிலிருந்து தேவன் அளிக்கும் பங்கும், உன்னதத்திலிருந்து சர்வவல்லமையுள்ள தேவன் கொடுக்கும் பங்கும் கிடைக்குமோ?
3 Is not calamity [ready] for the unjust? and misfortune for the wrong-doers?
௩மாறுபாடானவனுக்கு ஆபத்தும், அக்கிரமக்காரருக்கு தண்டனையுமல்லவோ கிடைக்கும்.
4 Behold, he truly seeth my ways, and numbereth all my steps;
௪அவர் என் வழிகளைப் பார்த்து, என் நடைகளையெல்லாம் கணக்கிடுகிறார் அல்லவோ?
5 [And knoweth] whether I have walked with vain desires, or if my foot hath hastened after deceit.
௫நான் மாயையிலே நடந்தேனோ, என் கால் தவறுசெய்ய வேகமானதோ என்று,
6 Let him weigh me then in a righteous balance, and let God acknowledge my integrity,
௬சரியான தராசிலே தேவன் என்னை நிறுத்து, என் உத்தமத்தை அறிவாராக.
7 If my step have turned aside from the [proper] way, and my heart have walked after my eyes, and if any blemish have cleaved to my hands:
௭என் நடைகள் வழியைவிட்டு விலகினதும், என் இருதயம் என் கண்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்ததும், ஏதாகிலும் ஒரு குற்றம் என் கைகளில் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டதும் இருந்தால்,
8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; and let what I have growing be rooted out.
௮அப்பொழுது நான் விதைத்ததை வேறொருவன் சாப்பிடுவானாக; என் பயிர்கள் வேர் இல்லாமல் போகக்கடவது.
9 If my heart have been beguiled toward a woman, or if I have lain in wait at my neighbor's door:
௯என் மனம் எந்தப் பெண்ணின்மேல் மயங்கி, அடுத்தவனுடைய வாசலை நான் எட்டிப் பார்த்திருந்தால்,
10 Then may my wife labor at the mill for another, and may strangers ill-use her;
௧0அப்பொழுது என் மனைவி வேறொருவனுக்கு மாவரைப்பாளாக; வேறு மனிதர் அவள்மேல் சாய்வார்களாக.
11 For this would be incest; yea, it would be an iniquity [to be punished by] the judges;
௧௧அது தவறு, அது நியாயாதிபதிகளால் விசாரிக்கப்படும் குற்றமாமே.
12 For it would be a fire that consumeth down to the place of corruption, and would root out all my products.
௧௨அது பாதாளம்வரை எரிக்கும் நெருப்பாய் என் விளைச்சல்களையெல்லாம் அழிக்கும்.
13 If ever I cast aside the justice due to my man-servant and my maid-servant, when they contended with me:
௧௩என் வேலைக்காரனோ, என் வேலைக்காரியோ, என்னுடன் வழக்காடும்போது, அவர்கள் நியாயத்தை நான் அசட்டைசெய்திருந்தால்,
14 What then could I do when God should rise up? and when he should investigate, what could I answer him?
௧௪தேவன் எழும்பும்போது, நான் என்ன செய்வேன்; அவர் விசாரிக்கும்போது, நான் அவருக்கு திரும்ப என்ன பதில் சொல்லுவேன்.
15 Did not he that made me make him born or a woman? and did not the same one fashion us in the womb?
௧௫தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் என்னை உண்டாக்கியவர் அவனையும் உண்டாக்கினார் அல்லவோ? ஒரேவிதமான கர்ப்பத்தில் எங்களை உருவாக்கினார் அல்லவோ?
16 If ever I denied the wish of the indigent, or ever allowed the eyes of the widow to fall [in vain hopes];
௧௬ஏழைகள் விரும்பியதை நான் கொடுக்காமலிருந்து, விதவையின் கண்ணீரினால் கண்களைப் பூத்துப்போகவைத்து,
17 Or if ever I ate my bread by myself alone, and the fatherless did not eat thereof;
௧௭தாய் தகப்பனில்லாத பிள்ளை என் ஆகாரத்தில் சாப்பிடாமல், நான் ஒருவனாய்ச் சாப்பிட்டதுண்டோ?
18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as though we were of one father, and I have guided her [as though she was sprung] from my mother's womb; )
௧௮என் சிறுவயதுமுதல் அவனுடைய தகப்பனிடத்தில் வளர்வதுபோல என்னுடன் வளர்ந்தான்; நான் என் தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் பிறந்ததுமுதல் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களை கைபிடித்து நடத்தினேன்.
19 If ever I saw any one perishing for want of clothing, or the needy without covering:
௧௯ஒருவன் உடையில்லாததினால் மடிந்துபோகிறதையும், ஏழைக்கு அணிய ஆடையில்லாதிருக்கிறதையும் நான் கண்டபோது,
20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he have not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
௨0அவன் என் ஆட்டுரோமக் கம்பளியினாலே அனல்கொண்டதினால், அவனுடைய இருதயம் என்னைப் புகழாதிருந்ததும்,
21 If I have swung my hand against the fatherless, because I saw in the gate those that would help me:
௨௧ஒலிமுகவாசலில் எனக்குச் செல்வாக்கு உண்டென்று நான் கண்டு, திக்கற்றவனுக்கு விரோதமாக என் கையை நீட்டினதும் உண்டானால்,
22 Then may my shoulder fall from my shoulder-blade, and my arm be broken from the channel-bone;
௨௨என் கை தோள்பட்டையிலிருந்து விலகி, என் கையின் எலும்பு முறிந்துபோவதாக.
23 For dreaded by me was the calamitous punishment of God, and against his highness I can accomplish nothing.
௨௩தேவன் தண்டிப்பார் என்றும், அவருடைய மகிமைக்கு முன் நிற்கமுடியாது என்றும், எனக்குப் பயங்கரமாயிருந்தது.
24 If I have made gold my confidence, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my trust:
௨௪நான் பொன்னின்மேல் என் நம்பிக்கையை வைத்து, தங்கத்தைப்பார்த்து: நீ என் ஆதரவு என்று நான் சொன்னதும்,
25 If ever I rejoiced because my wealth was abundant, and because my hand had gotten much;
௨௫என் செல்வம் அதிகமென்றும், என் கைக்கு அதிகமாக கிடைத்ததென்றும் நான் மகிழ்ந்ததும்,
26 If ever I looked at the light [of the sun] when he shone brightly and on the moon walking in splendor:
௨௬சூரியன் பிரகாசிக்கும்போதும், அல்லது சந்திரன் மகிமையாகச் செல்லும்போதும், நான் அதை நோக்கி:
27 And my heart became misled in secret, and my hand kissed my mouth:
௨௭என் மனம் இரகசியமாக மயங்கி, என் வாய் என் கையை முத்தம் செய்ததுண்டானால்,
28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge; for thus would I have denied the God that is above.
௨௮இதுவும் நியாயாதிபதிகளால் விசாரிக்கப்படத்தக்க அக்கிரமமாயிருக்கும்; அதினால் உன்னதத்திலிருக்கிற தேவனை மறுதலிப்பேனே.
29 If ever I rejoiced at the downfall of him that hated me, or was elated when evil befell him; —
௨௯என் பகைவனுடைய ஆபத்திலே நான் மகிழ்ந்து, பொல்லாப்பு அவனுக்கு நடந்தபோது மகிழ்ந்திருந்தேனோ?
30 But I suffered not my mouth to sin by denouncing with a curse his soul: —
௩0அவன் உயிருக்குச் சாபத்தைக் கொடுக்க விரும்பி, வாயினால் பாவம் செய்ய நான் இடங்கொடுக்கவில்லை.
31 If the men of my tent said not, Oh is there one that is not satisfied of his flesh; —
௩௧அவனுடைய இனத்தார்களில் திருப்தியாகாதவனைக் காண்பிப்பவன் யாரென்று என் கூடாரத்தின் மனிதர் சொல்லமாட்டார்களோ?
32 In the street a stranger had not to lodge; my doors I held open to the roadside;
௩௨அந்நியர் வீதியிலே இரவு தங்கினதில்லை; வழிப்போக்கனுக்கு என் வாசல்களைத் திறந்தேன்.
33 If I covered up my transgressions like a common man, by hiding in my bosom my iniquity;
௩௩நான் ஆதாமைப்போல என் மீறுதல்களை மூடி, என் அக்கிரமத்தை என் மடியிலே ஒளித்துவைத்தேனோ?
34 Because I dreaded the great multitude, or because the contempt of families did terrify me, so that I kept silence, and dared not to go out of the door; —
௩௪மிகுதியான என் மக்கள் கூட்டத்திற்கு நான் பயந்ததினாலாவது, மக்கள் செய்யும் இகழ்ச்சி என்னை அதிர்ச்சியடையச் செய்ததினாலாவது, நான் பேசாதிருந்து, வாசற்படியைவிட்டுப் புறப்படாதிருந்தேனோ?
35 Oh who will bring me one that would hear me! behold, here is my plea; may the Almighty answer me; and any record which my opponent may have written, —
௩௫ஆ, என் வழக்கைக் கேட்கிறவன் ஒருவன் இருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; இதோ, சர்வவல்லவர் எனக்கு பதில் அருளிச்செய்யவும், என் எதிராளி தன் வழக்கை எழுதிக்கொடுக்கவும் எனக்கு விருப்பமுண்டு.
36 Surely upon my shoulder would I carry it: I would bind it as a crown unto me.
௩௬அதை நான் என் தோளின்மேல் வைத்து, எனக்குக் கிரீடமாக அணிந்துகொள்வேனே.
37 The number of my steps would I tell him: as [to] a prince would I go near unto him.—
௩௭அவனுக்கு நான் என் நடைகளைத் தொகை தொகையாகக் காண்பித்து, ஒரு பிரபுவைப்போல அவனிடத்தில் போவேன்.
38 If my land ever cried out because of me, or if its furrows wept together;
௩௮எனக்கு விரோதமாக என் சொந்த பூமி கூப்பிடுகிறதும், அதின் வரப்புகள்கூட அழுகிறதும்,
39 If I ever consumed its strength without payment, or caused the soul of its owners to grieve:
௩௯கூலிகொடுக்காமல் நான் அதின் பலனைச் சாப்பிட்டு, பயிரிட்டவர்களின் ஆத்துமாவை உபத்திரவப்படுத்தினதும் உண்டானால்,
40 Then may instead of wheat, thorns come forth, and instead of barley, cockle. (Here end the words of Job.)
௪0அதில் கோதுமைக்குப் பதிலாக முள்ளும், வாற்கோதுமைக்குப் பதிலாகக் களையும் முளைக்கட்டும்” என்றான். யோபின் வார்த்தைகள் முடிந்தது.
