Job 28
1 For truly there is a source for the silver, and a place for the gold which men refine.
La plata tiene sus yacimientos, y el oro un lugar donde refinarlo.
2 Iron is taken out of the dust, and the stone is melted into copper.
Se saca el hierro de la tierra, y se funde el cobre de la piedra.
3 An end doth he set to darkness, and the very utmost limit doth he search out, the stones of darkness, and of the shadow of death.
El hombre da fin a la oscuridad y examina la piedra oscura y opaca hasta el último rincón.
4 He breaketh a channel far from the inhabited place; those of unsteady foot, the poorest of men move [there about].
Lejos de donde vive la gente, en lugares donde el pie no pasa, abren minas. Son suspendidos y balanceados lejos de los demás hombres.
5 The earth, out of which cometh forth bread, is under its surface turned up as it were with fire.
La tierra de la cual sale el pan, y por debajo, es trastornada como por fuego;
6 Her stones are the place whence the sapphire cometh; and golden dust is also there;
es lugar donde hay piedras de zafiro y polvo de oro.
7 [On the] path which no bird of prey knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not surveyed;
Es una senda que el ave de rapiña no conoce. Jamás la vio el ojo del halcón.
8 [Which] ravenous beasts have never trodden, over which the lion hath never passed.
Nunca fue pisoteada por fieras arrogantes, ni pasó por allí el león.
9 To the flinty rock he stretcheth forth his hand; he overturneth the mountains from the root.
El hombre alarga su mano sobre el pedernal y trastorna la raíz de las montañas.
10 Amid rocks he heweth out canals: and every precious thing doth his eye behold.
Abre canales en la roca, y sus ojos ven todo lo precioso.
11 The various droppings of water he uniteth into streams, and what is hidden he bringeth forth to light.
Detiene los ríos en su nacimiento y hace que salga a la luz lo escondido.
12 But wisdom—where shall she he found? and where is the place of understanding?
Pero ¿dónde se halla el entendimiento? ¿Dónde está el lugar de la sabiduría?
13 Man knoweth not her value: and she is not to be found in the land of the living.
El hombre no conoce el valor de ella. No se halla en la tierra de los vivientes.
14 The deep saith, Not in me is she: and the sea saith, She is not with me.
El océano dice: No está en mí. El mar dice: No está conmigo.
15 No fine gold can be given in lieu of her, and silver cannot be weighed out as her price.
No se puede obtener con oro fino, ni por su precio se pesa la plata.
16 She cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
No se puede evaluar con oro de Ofir, ni con ónice precioso o con zafiro.
17 She cannot be estimated after gold and glass; and not in exchange for her [can] vessels of refined gold [be taken.]
El oro y los diamantes no se le igualan, ni se puede pagar con objetos de oro fino.
18 Coral and crystal will not be thought of; and the value of wisdom is above pearls.
El coral y el cristal de roca ni se mencionen, porque el valor de la sabiduría supera al de las perlas.
19 She cannot be estimated after the topaz of Ethiopia, nor can she be valued with pure gold.
El topacio de Etiopía no la iguala, ni podrá ser evaluada en oro puro.
20 But wisdom—whence cometh she? and where is the place of understanding?
¿De dónde viene la sabiduría? ¿Dónde está el lugar del entendimiento?
21 Yea, she is hidden from the eyes of all living, and from the fowls of the heavens is she concealed.
Está encubierta a los ojos de todo viviente, y oculta a todas las aves del cielo.
22 Perdition and death say, With our ears have we heard a report of her.
El Abadón y la Muerte dicen: ¡Su fama escuchamos con nuestros oídos!
23 God [alone] understandeth her way, and he knoweth her place;
ʼElohim entiende el camino de ella y conoce su lugar,
24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, [whatever is] under the whole heaven doth he see.
porque contempla los confines de la tierra y ve cuanto hay debajo del cielo
25 When he imparted weight unto the wind; and [when] the waters he established by measure;
cuando da su peso al viento y determina la medida de las aguas,
26 When he made a law for the rain, and a way for the lightning of [his] thunders;
cuando dicta una ley para la lluvia, y un camino para truenos y relámpagos.
27 Then did he see her, and make her known; he established her, and also searched her out.
Entonces Él la vio, la declaró, la estableció y también la escudriñó,
28 And he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to eschew evil is understanding.
y dice al hombre: Ciertamente el temor a ʼAdonay es la sabiduría, y el apartarse del mal, el entendimiento.
