Job 2
1 And it happened [again] on a certain day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, that the Accuser also came in the midst of them to present himself before the Lord.
Xảy ra một ngày kia, các con trai của Đức Chúa Trời đến ra mắt Đức Giê-hô-va, Sa-tan cũng có đến trong vòng chúng đặng ra mắt Đức Giê-hô-va.
2 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Whence comest thou now? And the Accuser answered the Lord, and said, From roaming over the earth, and from wandering through it.
Đức Giê-hô-va bèn phán hỏi Sa-tan rằng: Ngươi ở đâu đến? Sa-tan thưa cùng Đức Giê-hô-va rằng: Tôi trải qua đây đó trên đất và dạo chơi tại nơi nó.
3 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Hast thou directed thy attention toward my servant Job: for there is none like him on the earth, a man perfect and upright, who feareth God, and escheweth evil? and he is still holding fast to his integrity, and thou hast incited me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Đức Giê-hô-va lại phán hỏi Sa-tan rằng: Ngươi có nhìn thấy Gióp, tôi tớ của ta chăng? Trên đất chẳng có ai giống như người, vốn trọn vẹn và ngay thẳng, kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời, và lánh khỏi điều ác; lại người bền đỗ trong sự hoàn toàn mình, mặc dầu ngươi có giục ta phá hủy người vô cớ.
4 Then answered the Accuser the Lord, and said, Skin for skin: yea, all that a man hath will he give in behalf of his life.
Sa-tan thưa lại với Đức Giê-hô-va rằng: Lấy da đền da, phàm vật chi một người có, tất sẽ trao thế cho mạng sống mình.
5 But stretch only forth thy hand, and touch his bone and his flesh, and [see] whether he will not renounce thee to thy face.
Nhưng bây giờ xin Chúa hãy giơ tay ra, đụng đến hại xương thịt người, ắt là người sẽ phỉ báng Chúa trước mặt.
6 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Behold, he is in thy hand: only take care of his life.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán với Sa-tan rằng: Kìa, người ở trong tay ngươi; nhưng chỉ hãy giữ mạng sống người.
7 Thereupon went the Accuser forth from the presence of the Lord, and he smote Job with a sore inflammation, from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head.
Sa-tan bèn lui ra khỏi trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, hành hại Gióp một bịnh ung độc, từ bàn chân cho đến chót đầu.
8 And [Job] took himself a potsherd to scrape himself there with, while he was sitting down among the ashes.
Gióp lấy một miếng sành đặng gãi mình, và ngồi trong đống tro.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Art thou still holding fast to thy integrity? renounce God, and die.
Vợ người nói với người rằng: Uûa? Oâng hãy còn bền đỗ trong sự hoàn toàn mình sao? Hãy phỉ báng Đức Chúa Trời, và chết đi!
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the worthless women would speak. What? should we accept the good alone, from God, and the evil we should not accept? With all this did Job not sin with his lips.
Người đáp lại rằng: Ngươi nói như một người đàn bà ngu muội. Uûa sao! Sự phước mà tay Đức Chúa Trời ban cho chúng ta, chúng ta lãnh lấy, còn sự tai họa mà tay Ngài giáng trên chúng ta, lại chẳng lãnh lấy sao? Trong mọi việc đó, Gióp không phạm tội bởi môi miệng mình.
11 When now the three friends of Job had heard of all this evil that was come over him, they came every one from his own place, Eliphaz the Themanite, and Bildad the Shuchite, and Zophar the Na'amthite; and they met together to come to condole with him and to comfort him.
Vả, khi ba bạn hữu của Gióp, là Ê-li-pha người Thê-man, Binh-đát người Su-a, và Sô-pha người Na-a-ma, hay được các tai nạn đã xảy đến cho người, mỗi người bèn hẹn nhau từ xứ mình đi đến đặng chia buồn và an ủi người.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and they recognised him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his robe, and strewed dust upon their heads toward heaven.
Ba bạn hữu ở xa ngước mắt lên thì chẳng nhận biết người, bèn cất tiếng lên khóc, mỗi người xé áo mình, hất bụi lên trời mà vãi trên đầu mình.
13 They likewise sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights; but no one spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his pain was very great.
Đoạn, ba bạn ngồi xuống đất với người trong bảy ngày bảy đêm, chẳng ai nói một lời với người, vì thấy sự đau đớn người lớn lắm.
