Job 2
1 And it happened [again] on a certain day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, that the Accuser also came in the midst of them to present himself before the Lord.
I stało się niektórego dnia, gdy przyszli synowie Boży, aby stanęli przed Panem, przyszedł też szatan między nich, aby stanął przed Panem.
2 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Whence comest thou now? And the Accuser answered the Lord, and said, From roaming over the earth, and from wandering through it.
Tedy rzekł Pan do szatana: Gdzieś był, skąd idziesz? I odpowiedział szatan Panu, a rzekł: Okrążałem ziemię, i przechodziłem się po niej.
3 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Hast thou directed thy attention toward my servant Job: for there is none like him on the earth, a man perfect and upright, who feareth God, and escheweth evil? and he is still holding fast to his integrity, and thou hast incited me against him, to destroy him without cause.
Zatem rzekł Pan do szatana: Przypatrzyłżeś się słudze memu Ijobowi, że mu nie masz równego na ziemi? Mąż to doskonały i szczery, bojący się Boga, a odstępujący od złego, i który jeszcze trwa w uprzejmości swojej; a tyś mię pobudził przeciw niemu, abym go niszczył bez przyczyny.
4 Then answered the Accuser the Lord, and said, Skin for skin: yea, all that a man hath will he give in behalf of his life.
I odpowiedział szatan Panu, i rzekł: Skórę za skórę, i wszystko, co ma człowiek, da za duszę swoję;
5 But stretch only forth thy hand, and touch his bone and his flesh, and [see] whether he will not renounce thee to thy face.
Ale ściągnij tylko rękę twoję, a dotknij kości jego, i ciała jego, ujrzysz, jeźliżeć w oczy złorzeczyć nie będzie.
6 Then said the Lord unto the Accuser, Behold, he is in thy hand: only take care of his life.
Tedy rzekł Pan do szatana: Oto w ręce twojej jest; wszakże żywot jego zachowaj.
7 Thereupon went the Accuser forth from the presence of the Lord, and he smote Job with a sore inflammation, from the sole of his foot unto the crown of his head.
Wszedłszy tedy szatan od oblicza Pańskiego, zaraził Ijoba wrzodem złym od stopy nogi jego aż do wierzchu głowy jego;
8 And [Job] took himself a potsherd to scrape himself there with, while he was sitting down among the ashes.
Tak, że wziął skorupę, aby się nią skrobał; i siedział w popiele.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Art thou still holding fast to thy integrity? renounce God, and die.
I rzekła mu żona jego: A jeszczeż trwasz w uprzejmosci twojej? Złorzecz Bogu, a umrzyj.
10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the worthless women would speak. What? should we accept the good alone, from God, and the evil we should not accept? With all this did Job not sin with his lips.
I rzekł do niej: Tak właśnie mówisz, jako szalone niewiasty mawiają. Izali tylko dobre przyjmować będziemy od Boga, a złego przyjmować nie będziemy? W tem wszystkiem nie zgrzeszył Ijob usty swemi.
11 When now the three friends of Job had heard of all this evil that was come over him, they came every one from his own place, Eliphaz the Themanite, and Bildad the Shuchite, and Zophar the Na'amthite; and they met together to come to condole with him and to comfort him.
A gdy usłyszeli trzej przyjaciele Ijobowi to wszystko utrapienie, które nań przypadło, przyszli każdy z miejsca swego: Elifas Temańczyk, i Bildad Suhytczyk, i Sofar Naamatczyk; bo się byli namówili pospołu, aby przyszedłszy pożałowali go, i cieszyli go.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and they recognised him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his robe, and strewed dust upon their heads toward heaven.
A podniósłszy oczy swoje z daleka, nie poznali go, i wyniósłszy głos swój płakali, a rozdarłszy każdy płaszcz swój miotali proch nad głowy swe ku niebu;
13 They likewise sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights; but no one spoke a word unto him; for they saw that his pain was very great.
I siedzieli z nim na ziemi siedm dni i siedm nocy, a żaden do niego słowa nie przemówił; bo widzieli, że się gwałtownie wzmagała boleść jego.
