Job 12
1 Then answered Job, and said,
Da antwortete Hiob und sprach:
2 Truly ye are indeed the [right kind of] people, and with you wisdom must die out.
Ja, ihr seid die Leute, mit euch wird die Weisheit sterben!
3 I also have sense like you; I do not fall short compared with you: and who possesseth not such things as these?
Ich habe so wohl ein Herz als ihr und bin nicht geringer denn ihr; und wer ist, der solches nicht wisse?
4 I am as one laughed at by his friend, who calleth upon God, while he answered him: [yea, ] a laughing-stock though righteous and innocent.
Ich muß von meinem Nächsten verlacht sein, der ich Gott anrief, und er erhörte mich. Der Gerechte und Fromme muß verlacht sein
5 To the unfortunate there is given contempt— according to the thoughts of him that is at ease— prepared [also] for those whose foot slippeth.
und ist ein verachtet Lichtlein vor den Gedanken der Stolzen, steht aber, daß sie sich daran ärgern.
6 Prosperous are the tents of robbers, and security is given to those that provoke God. to him who carrieth his god in his hand.
Der Verstörer Hütten haben die Fülle, und Ruhe haben, die wider Gott toben, die ihren Gott in der Faust führen.
7 Yet, do only ask of the beasts, and they will instruct thee; and the fowls of the heavens, and they will tell it thee;
Frage doch das Vieh, das wird dich's lehren und die Vögel unter dem Himmel, die werden dir's sagen;
8 Or speak to the earth, and she will instruct thee; and the fishes of the sea will inform thee
oder rede mit der Erde, die wird dich's lehren, und die Fische im Meer werden dir's erzählen.
9 Who knoweth not through all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?
Wer erkennte nicht an dem allem, daß des HERRN Hand solches gemacht hat?
10 [He] in whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all the bodies of men?
daß in seiner Hand ist die Seele alles dessen, was da lebt, und der Geist des Fleisches aller Menschen?
11 Doth not the ear try words, as the palate tasteth food for itself?
Prüft nicht das Ohr die Rede? und der Mund schmeckt die Speise?
12 So It with the ancients wisdom, and with [those of] length of days understanding,
Ja, “bei den Großvätern ist die Weisheit, und der Verstand bei den Alten”.
13 That with him are wisdom and strength, his are counsel and understanding.
Bei ihm ist Weisheit und Gewalt, Rat und Verstand.
14 Behold, he pulleth down, and there can be no rebuilding: he locketh [the prison] upon a man, and there can be no opening,
Siehe, wenn er zerbricht, so hilft kein Bauen; wenn er jemand einschließt, kann niemand aufmachen.
15 Behold, he restraineth the waters, and they dry up; or he suffereth them to flow, and they overturn the earth.
Siehe, wenn er das Wasser verschließt, so wird alles dürr; und wenn er's ausläßt, so kehrt es das Land um.
16 With him are strength and counsel: his are the deceived and the deceiver.
Er ist stark und führt es aus. Sein ist, der da irrt und der da verführt.
17 He leadeth counsellors away bereft of sense, and maketh the judges fools.
Er führt die Klugen wie einen Raub und macht die Richter toll.
18 He looseth the bond of kings, and bindeth a girdle around their loins.
Er löst auf der Könige Zwang und bindet mit einem Gurt ihre Lenden.
19 He leadeth priests away bereft of sense, and the powerful he causeth to walk on crooked paths.
Er führt die Priester wie einen Raub und bringt zu Fall die Festen.
20 He removeth the speech from trusty speakers, and taketh away the intelligence of the aged.
Er entzieht die Sprache den Bewährten und nimmt weg den Verstand der Alten.
21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and the belt of the mighty be looseneth.
Er schüttet Verachtung auf die Fürsten und macht den Gürtel der Gewaltigen los.
22 He layeth open deep things from the midst of darkness, and bringeth out unto light the shadow of death.
Er öffnet die finsteren Gründe und bringt heraus das Dunkel an das Licht.
23 He permitteth the nations to become great, and destroyeth them: he spreadeth out the nations, and leadeth them away.
Er macht etliche zu großem Volk und bringt sie wieder um. Er breitet ein Volk aus und treibt es wieder weg.
24 He taketh away the sense of the chiefs of the people of the land, and causeth them to wander astray in a wilderness when there is no way.
Er nimmt weg den Mut der Obersten des Volkes im Lande und macht sie irre auf einem Umwege, da kein Weg ist,
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he causeth them to wander astray like a drunken man.
daß sie in Finsternis tappen ohne Licht; und macht sie irre wie die Trunkenen.
