Job 12
1 Then answered Job, and said,
Und Hiob antwortete und sprach:
2 Truly ye are indeed the [right kind of] people, and with you wisdom must die out.
Fürwahr, ihr seid die Leute, und mit euch wird die Weisheit aussterben!
3 I also have sense like you; I do not fall short compared with you: and who possesseth not such things as these?
Auch ich habe Verstand wie ihr; ich stehe nicht hinter euch zurück; [Eig. ich falle nicht gegen euch ab; so auch Kap. 13,2] und wer wüßte nicht dergleichen?
4 I am as one laughed at by his friend, who calleth upon God, while he answered him: [yea, ] a laughing-stock though righteous and innocent.
Ich muß einer sein, der seinem Freunde zum Gespött ist, der zu Gott ruft, und er antwortet [O. rief antwortete] ihm; der Gerechte, Vollkommene ist zum Gespött!
5 To the unfortunate there is given contempt— according to the thoughts of him that is at ease— prepared [also] for those whose foot slippeth.
Dem Unglück gebührt Verachtung nach den Gedanken des Sorglosen; sie ist bereit für die, welche mit dem Fuße wanken.
6 Prosperous are the tents of robbers, and security is given to those that provoke God. to him who carrieth his god in his hand.
Die Zelte der Verwüster sind in Ruhe, und Sicherheit ist für die, welche Gott [El] reizen, für den, welcher Gott in seiner Hand führt. [d. h. welcher nur auf seine Hand vertraut. Vergl. Hab. 1,11]
7 Yet, do only ask of the beasts, and they will instruct thee; and the fowls of the heavens, and they will tell it thee;
Aber frage doch das Vieh, und es wirds dich lehren; und das Gevögel des Himmels, und es wirds dir kundtun;
8 Or speak to the earth, and she will instruct thee; and the fishes of the sea will inform thee
oder rede zu der Erde, und sie wirds dich lehren; und die Fische des Meeres werden es dir erzählen.
9 Who knoweth not through all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this?
Wer erkennte nicht an diesen allen, daß die Hand Jehovas solches gemacht hat,
10 [He] in whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the spirit of all the bodies of men?
in dessen Hand die Seele alles Lebendigen ist und der Geist alles menschlichen Fleisches?
11 Doth not the ear try words, as the palate tasteth food for itself?
Soll nicht das Ohr die Worte prüfen, wie der Gaumen für sich die Speise kostet?
12 So It with the ancients wisdom, and with [those of] length of days understanding,
Bei Greisen ist Weisheit, und Einsicht bei hohem Alter.
13 That with him are wisdom and strength, his are counsel and understanding.
Bei ihm ist Weisheit und Macht, sein ist Rat und Einsicht.
14 Behold, he pulleth down, and there can be no rebuilding: he locketh [the prison] upon a man, and there can be no opening,
Siehe, er reißt nieder, und es wird nicht wieder gebaut; er schließt über jemand zu, und es wird nicht aufgetan.
15 Behold, he restraineth the waters, and they dry up; or he suffereth them to flow, and they overturn the earth.
Siehe, er hemmt die Wasser, und sie vertrocknen; und er läßt sie los, und sie kehren das Land um.
16 With him are strength and counsel: his are the deceived and the deceiver.
Bei ihm ist Kraft und vollkommenes Wissen; sein ist der Irrende und der Irreführende.
17 He leadeth counsellors away bereft of sense, and maketh the judges fools.
Er führt Räte beraubt [Eig. ausgezogen] hinweg, und Richter macht er zu Narren.
18 He looseth the bond of kings, and bindeth a girdle around their loins.
Die Herrschaft der Könige löst er auf, und schlingt eine Fessel [Eig. einen Gurt, ein Band] um ihre Lenden.
19 He leadeth priests away bereft of sense, and the powerful he causeth to walk on crooked paths.
Er führt Priester beraubt [Eig. ausgezogen] hinweg, und Feststehende stürzt er um.
20 He removeth the speech from trusty speakers, and taketh away the intelligence of the aged.
Zuverlässigen [d. h. solchen, auf deren Rat man sich verlassen kann] entzieht er die Sprache, und Alten benimmt er das Urteil.
21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and the belt of the mighty be looseneth.
Verachtung schüttet er auf Edle, und den Gürtel der Starken macht er schlaff.
22 He layeth open deep things from the midst of darkness, and bringeth out unto light the shadow of death.
Er enthüllt Tiefes aus der Finsternis, und Todesschatten zieht er an das Licht hervor.
23 He permitteth the nations to become great, and destroyeth them: he spreadeth out the nations, and leadeth them away.
Er vergrößert Nationen, und er vernichtet sie; er breitet Nationen aus, und er führt sie hinweg.
24 He taketh away the sense of the chiefs of the people of the land, and causeth them to wander astray in a wilderness when there is no way.
Er entzieht den Verstand den Häuptern der Völker der Erde, und macht sie umherirren in pfadloser Einöde;
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he causeth them to wander astray like a drunken man.
sie tappen in der Finsternis, wo kein Licht ist, und er macht sie umherirren gleich einem Trunkenen.
