Jeremiah 7

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

൧യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട് എന്തെന്നാൽ:

2 Place thyself in the gate of the house of the Lord, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of Judah, that enter in by these gates to bow down before the Lord.

൨“നീ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതില്ക്കൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഈ വചനം വിളിച്ചുപറയുക: ‘യഹോവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കുവാൻ ഈ വാതിലുകളിൽകൂടി കടക്കുന്നവരായ എല്ലാ യെഹൂദയുമായുള്ളോരേ, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് കേൾക്കുവിൻ.’

3 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will permit you to dwell in this place.

൩യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നന്നാക്കുവിൻ; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു വസിക്കുമാറാക്കും.

4 [But] do not rely on the words of falsehood, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, [as] they [say].

൪‘യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരം, യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരം, യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരം’ എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള വ്യാജവാക്കുകളിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കരുത്.

5 For if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your deeds; if ye thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;

൫നിങ്ങളുടെ നടപ്പും പ്രവൃത്തികളും നിങ്ങൾ വാസ്തവമായി നന്നാക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ, നിങ്ങൾ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ ന്യായം നടത്തുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ,

6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after other gods to your own hurt:

൬പരദേശിയെയും അനാഥനെയും വിധവയെയും പീഡിപ്പിക്കാതെയും കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് ചൊരിയാതെയും നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദോഷത്തിനായി അന്യദേവന്മാരോടു ചേർന്ന് നടക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ,

7 Then will I permit you to dwell in this place, in the land that I have given to your fathers, from eternity to eternity.

൭ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു കൊടുത്ത ദേശമായ ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് നിങ്ങളെ എന്നും എന്നേക്കും വസിക്കുമാറാക്കും.

8 Behold, ye rely on the words of falsehood, that cannot profit.

൮നിങ്ങൾ പ്രയോജനമില്ലാത്ത വ്യാജവാക്കുകളിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നു.

9 How? will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Ba'al, and walk after other gods of which ye have no knowledge;

൯നിങ്ങൾ മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയും കൊലചെയ്യുകയും വ്യഭിചരിക്കുകയും കള്ളസ്സത്യം ചെയ്യുകയും ബാലിനു ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും നിങ്ങൾ അറിയാത്ത ദേവന്മാരോടു ചേർന്ന് നടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

10 And [then] come and stand before my presence in this house, which is called by my name, and say, “We are delivered;” in order to do all these abominations?

൧൦പിന്നെ വന്ന് എന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആലയത്തിൽ എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട്: ‘ഞങ്ങൾ രക്ഷപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു’ എന്നു പറയുന്നത് ഈ മ്ലേച്ഛതകളെല്ലാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന് തന്നെയോ?

11 Is then this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? [But] I also, behold, I have seen it, saith the Lord.

൧൧എന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ആലയം ‘കള്ളന്മാരുടെ ഗുഹ’ എന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് തോന്നുന്നുവോ? എനിക്കും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ തോന്നുന്നു” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

12 For go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did unto it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

൧൨“എന്നാൽ ആദിയിൽ എന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരുന്ന ശീലോവിലെ എന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലത്തു നിങ്ങൾ ചെന്ന് എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതനിമിത്തം ഞാൻ അതിനോട് ചെയ്തതു നോക്കുവിൻ!

13 And now, whereas ye have done all these acts, saith the Lord, and I spoke unto you, causing [the prophets] to rise up early and speaking, while ye would not hear; and I called you, but ye would not answer:

൧൩ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഈ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ എല്ലാം ചെയ്യുകയും ഞാൻ അതികാലത്തും ഇടവിടാതെയും നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കാതിരിക്കുകയും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ ഉത്തരം പറയാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുകകൊണ്ട്,

14 Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, whereon ye rely, and unto the place which I have given to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

൧൪എന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും നിങ്ങൾ ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നതുമായ ഈ ആലയത്തോടും, നിങ്ങൾക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കും ഞാൻ നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ സ്ഥലത്തോടും ശീലോവിനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാൻ ചെയ്യും.

15 And I will cast you out of my presence, as I have cast out all your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.

൧൫എഫ്രയീംസന്തതിയായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെയെല്ലാം ഞാൻ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളെയും എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ തള്ളിക്കളയും” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

16 But thou—pray not thou in behalf of this people, nor lift up in their behalf entreaty or prayer, nor make intercession to me; for I will not hear thee.

൧൬അതുകൊണ്ട് നീ ഈ ജനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കരുത്; അവർക്ക് വേണ്ടി യാചനയും പ്രാർത്ഥനയും കഴിക്കരുത്; എന്നോട് പക്ഷവാദം ചെയ്യുകയുമരുത്; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്കുകയില്ല.

17 Dost thou not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

൧൭യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിലും അവർ ചെയ്യുന്നത് നീ കാണുന്നില്ലയോ?

18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven, and they pour out drink-offerings unto other gods, in order to provoke me to anger.

൧൮എനിക്ക് കോപം ജ്വലിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം, ആകാശരാജ്ഞിക്ക് അപ്പം ചുടേണ്ടതിനും അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു പാനീയബലി പകരേണ്ടതിനും മക്കൾ വിറകു പെറുക്കുകയും അപ്പന്മാർ തീ കത്തിക്കുകയും സ്ത്രീകൾ മാവു കുഴയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Lord, [and] not themselves, to the shame of their own faces?

൧൯എന്നാൽ അവർ എന്നെയോ മുഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്? സ്വന്തലജ്ജയ്ക്കായിട്ട് അവർ അവരെത്തന്നെയല്ലയോ മുഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്.

20 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold my anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, over man, and over beast, and over the trees of the field, and over the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and it shall not be quenched.

൨൦അതുകൊണ്ട് യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ് ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഇതാ, എന്റെ കോപവും എന്റെ ക്രോധവും ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് മനുഷ്യന്റെമേലും മൃഗത്തിന്മേലും വയലിലെ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളിന്മേലും നിലത്തിലെ വിളവിന്മേലും ചൊരിയും; അത് കെട്ടുപോകാതെ ജ്വലിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും”.

21 Thus hath said the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Add your burnt-offerings unto your peace-sacrifices, and eat the flesh thereof.

൨൧യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “നിങ്ങൾ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളോടു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും കൂട്ടി മാംസം തിന്നുവിൻ.

22 For I spoke not with your fathers, and I commanded them not on the day of my bringing them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt-offering or sacrifice;

൨൨ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂര്‍വ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാളിൽ ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചോ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചോ അവരോടു സംസാരിക്കുകയോ കല്പിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

23 But this thing did I command them, saying, Hearken to my voice, and I will be unto you for a God, and ye shall be unto me for a people; and walk ye altogether on the way which I may command you, in order that it may be well unto you.

൨൩എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുവിൻ; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവമായും നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്ക് ജനമായും ഇരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ശുഭമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള എല്ലാ വഴികളിലും നടക്കുവിൻ” എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള കാര്യമാകുന്നു ഞാൻ അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചത്.

24 Yet they hearkened not, and inclined not their ear; but they walked in the counsels, in the stubbornness of their evil heart; and they went backward, and not forward:

൨൪എന്നാൽ അവർ അനുസരിക്കുകയോ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ അവരുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ആലോചനയിലും ദുശ്ശാഠ്യത്തിലും നടന്നു മുമ്പോട്ടല്ല പിറകോട്ടു തന്നെ പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു.

25 Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt until this day; and I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, sending them daily in the morning early;

൨൫നിങ്ങളുടെ പൂര്‍വ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാൻ അതികാലത്തും ഇടവിടാതെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരായ എന്റെ സകലദാസന്മാരെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

26 Yet they hearkened not unto me, and inclined not their ear; but they hardened their neck; they did worse than their fathers.

൨൬എന്നിട്ടും എന്നെ കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുകയോ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യാതെ അവർ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യം കാട്ടി അവരുടെ പൂര്‍വ്വ പിതാക്കന്മാരെക്കാൾ അധികം ദോഷം ചെയ്തു.

27 And if thou speak unto them all these words, and they will not hearken to thee; and if thou call unto them, and they will not answer thee:

൨൭ഈ വചനങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം നീ അവരോടു പറയുമ്പോൾ അവർ നിനക്ക് ചെവി തരുകയില്ല; നീ അവരെ വിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവർ ഉത്തരം പറയുകയില്ല;

28 Then shalt thou say unto them, This is the nation that hearken not to the voice of the Lord their God, and accept not correction; lost is the truth, and is obliterated from their mouth.

൨൮എന്നാൽ നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടത്: “ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കുകയോ ഉപദേശം കൈക്കൊള്ളുകയോ ചെയ്യാത്ത ജനതയാകുന്നു ഇത്; സത്യം നശിച്ച് അവരുടെ വായിൽനിന്നും നിർമ്മൂലമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

29 Cut off thy flowing hair, and cast it away, and take up on mountain-tops a lamentation; for rejected hath the Lord and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

൨൯നിന്റെ തലമുടി കത്രിച്ച് എറിഞ്ഞുകളയുക; മൊട്ടക്കുന്നിന്മേൽ കയറി വിലാപം കഴിക്കുക; യഹോവ തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

30 For the children of Judah have done what is evil in my eyes, saith the Lord: they have set up their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

൩൦യെഹൂദാപുത്രന്മാർ എനിക്ക് അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്. എന്റെ നാമത്താൽ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ആലയത്തെ മലിനമാക്കുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവർ അവരുടെ മ്ലേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ അതിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

31 And they have built the high-places of Thophet, which is in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I had not commanded, and which never came into my mind.

൩൧അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും അഗ്നിയിൽ ദഹിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവർ ബെൻ-ഹിന്നോം താഴ്വരയിലുള്ള തോഫെത്തിലെ പൂജാഗിരികളെ പണിതിരിക്കുന്നു; അത് ഞാൻ കല്പിച്ചതല്ല; എന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ തോന്നിയതുമല്ല.

32 Therefore, behold days are coming, saith the Lord, that it shall not be called any more Thophet, or The valley of Ben-hinnom, but The valley of slaughter: and they shall bury in Thophet, for want of room.

൩൨അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇനി അതിന് തോഫെത്ത് എന്നും ബെൻ-ഹിന്നോം താഴ്വര എന്നും പേരുപറയാതെ കൊലത്താഴ്വര എന്നു പേര് വിളിക്കുന്ന കാലം വരും” എന്ന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട്. വേറെ സ്ഥലം ഇല്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ തോഫെത്തിൽ ശവം അടക്കും.

33 And the carcasses of this people shall become food unto the fowls of the heavens, and unto the beasts of the earth, with none to chase them away.

൩൩എന്നാൽ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ ശവങ്ങൾ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികൾക്കും ഭൂമിയിലെ കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും ഇരയായിത്തീരും; ആരും അവയെ ആട്ടിക്കളയുകയുമില്ല.

34 And I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of gladness, and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride; for a desert shall the land become.

൩൪അന്ന് ഞാൻ യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും യെരൂശലേം വീഥികളിൽനിന്നും ആനന്ദഘോഷവും സന്തോഷധ്വനിയും മണവാളന്റെ സ്വരവും മണവാട്ടിയുടെ സ്വരവും നീക്കിക്കളയും; ദേശം ശൂന്യമായിക്കിടക്കും”.
